In other words, the Democratic party of the city and county mnst be reorganized by an edict of the Democratic party of the State. The Democratic party of the nation consists of 4,000,000 of freemen; of the State it consists of 450,000 oitizens; of the city more than 100,- 000. These vast masses of Democrats can never conaent that the sole result of their extent should be that half a dozen men might enrich themselves by publio plunder, or that when they just arraign themselves for a national and Htate battle, they should be impeded and dis honored by offences of a small knot of local leaders.” The committee of seventy this afternoon re- solved to ask the District Attorney, Garvin, for permission to appeal by oounsel in the exami nation and prosecution before Judge Dowling, of Haggerty, Batch, and Mrs. Haggerty, charged with stealing vouchers from the Comptroller’s offioe, and appoint Wm.
