The functional action of any organ or portion of toe aystem ia possible only nn der too condition of change. The blood continually washes each organ—brain or muscle, gland or nerve—with its life-giving flood, sweeping away the dead, wora-ont particles and replacing them with new particle*. Death thus start* side by aide into life; and aide by side, aa necessary conditions the one to the other, they press forward to toe common goal of both. The notion that tho vary ing functions of life ere hot toe varying manifes tations and oulworldngs of a mysterious entity known as toe vital principle,is now exploded. Thoso varying functions are now viewed as the simple ef fects of intimate molecular change* in toe organs, just as the motions of the steam engino are viewed as toe effects of the expansion of elastic vapor in the boiler and cylinder. Indeed, very probably, if a man had first met with steam engines in nature, be would have explained their movements by sup posing the existence of a vital principle or some thing similar. Now Dr. Fiech's Bitters is a prepa ration compounded in accordance with toe above late discovered principles. It stimulates molecular changes. It also stimulates alimentation, and tone insures an abundant supply of blood for toe form ation of new tisanes to take the room of those that molecular change has displaced aa useless. Vig orous muscles and strong sinews, broad abonldera and sound lungs, are no defence against the me phitic vapors of autumn. Frames which have with stood the summer heat may succumb now. Many an athletic man, whose family depends for its sup port on hia industry, now lies prostrate, weak and helpless as a babe, nndor the periodical assaults of chills and fever, or bilious remittent fever.
