THURSDAY MORNING. OCT. 19, 1*71.
A Lore Vetter.
ttt ICIWILL WU1IO*.
What shall I writ* thee, Ixjve ?—SO hr away,
And yet to very near. What can I say
That thou bast notalready heard a thousand timea?
Stull lomnpos. for thoe unmomning rhjaee,
. like thle I eead to thee to-day?
Wlut eaa I do for thee that thou wonUet haver
What can I teU thee that tbou tam wwflda t hear.-
My lore for thee gives me a heart so brave
That far from thoe or new
wife,
For tbee to save;
Or else, throogb thee to lose,
Sbooldit thou to eare refuse.
I lore thee. Sweet, supremely; more I caMrt teU
What words remain to wnto thee, lore, that thou
would’atbear?
Ah! listen totho tolling of “j® j*B
That toils within me solemnly the kntli
Of my past years. And laid upon the bier,
heemy doad self! Lament with me his death;
For he was valiant, yes, and not untrue;
lint he must die, because ho know not you.
And so bis breath
Passed from him, and his soul is well.
And then rejoke with me that I have found
A new self and one 1 bold more dear—
A self that bids adieu to hope or fear,
Have when they both are centered bme-
llere in my boundless, endless lore for tbee.
But eboaldsi thou turn aside
In negligence or pndo,
fits spirit free
Mothlnkswill, orealiUlotimo havodied;
And thou the loss must mourn with bitterest
Forgive me, Love, I fear X radden then
When I would cheer.
I love I boo, lovo thee; more I dare not tell.
I lore thee, love tlieo, love thee, beats my heart:
And tike a mountain cataract, my blood
Fauns down its courses, till that funeral bell
Grows faint and fainter for the gurgling flood
That drowns its melancholy music. Then with
sudden start,
I wake to Ufo again, to world and worldly things;
But tboy In bssto resolve themselves to this—
Absence, yearning and the farewell Idee
That sealed our parting, and the doubt which brings
The writbipgs and the agonies of hell.
I love thee, love thee, love thoe; more I cannot
tell.

On a beautiful summer's dsy, a clergyman

snch words as these:
“Learn that tho present lifo is a preparation
for and has a tendency to eternity, Tho pres
ent is linked to the fmnre throughout creation,
in the vegetable, in the animal, and in the
moral world. As is the seed, so is the frnit; ns

the man; and as is the rational being in this
world, so will he be in tbs next; Dives es

from God in the next, and Enoch walking with
God here, is Enoch walking with God in a calm
and better world. 1 beseech yon, live, then,
for a blessed eternity. Go to the worm that
you tread npon, and learn a lesson of wisdom.

and that whieb fed on comparatively groesfood,
sips the dew that revels in iho rich pastures, an

With this the preachor closed bis disoonrso;
