Owe* Moss.—What are onr merchants and
business men doing about dosing their houses
of business on Thursday and Friday afternoons ?
We rosily think it a matter of justice to the
worn down employees to allow them a little re
creation. The display at the Fair Grounds
such as is rarely ever seen, and such, perhaps,
aa XIsoon will never see again. If they think
that they cannot afford to lose two half days
we suggest that they dose for one evening. We
suggest to the employees that they offer to have
Urge placard., printed and posted at all the
hotels, the Passenger Depot and the Fair
Grounds, giving nottoe that the stores will be
dosed after a certain hour; and also, that they
will give notice, through newspapers, to that
effect if the employers will oonsent to dose.
We insist upon onr business men taking the
matter into consideration and treating it favor
ably to their employees.
ThzWcbbsll Sums.—Last evening these
charming artists and their very excellent com
pany were greeted by s Urge and delighted au
dience. The operatic extravaganza of “Cinde
rella" was produced with Miss Sophie as Prinoe
Prettipet, Miss Irene as Cinderella, and Miss
Jennie as Thisbe. Mias Sophie has visited ns
before, and it is only necessary to say that she is
the same captivating little creature, as full of
life and vim as on her former visit when she
became the great favorite that she now is. Her
sisters make their entree before e Macon au
dience and fully sustain the reputation awarded
them by the press throughout the country. Miss
Irene is one of the handsomest ladies on the
stage and is a graceful and perfect actress, pay
ing the utmost attention to ell the detaiU of
her profession, and striving to amn-e her au
diences and not herself, as many actressee that
we might mention are apt to do. Misa Jennie,
the youngest of the sisters, U a beautiful bru
nette and most vivacious actress. Her clog
dance is, indeed, the “best in the world.” Har
ry Jackson, who appeared as Clorinds, and Jen.
nie Willmore Franck as Dandini. The pro
gramme to-njgbt consists of the extravaganza
of the “Field of the Cloth of Gold," and the
farce of “Crossing the Lice."
