Wo ooald wiah that all who are diapoeed to qneation the authority of tbo bible, or carpal the tratha of revelation, bad been permitted to luiea to the loglaal and powerful ditoonreo of Uov. The dogma or phantasm, that matter is oter- nal, and earthly organizations and progress are mi rely tbe work of sentient beings from the erode ‘•ultimate atoms" existing by ntce&tily. was triumphantly refuted, and tbo absurdity of the position demonstrated. So also with the Darwinian theory of the origin and development of tbe human race, from the lower orders of animals, such as the monkey, etc. Tbe goologioal arguments likewise, which sonic sfloct to beliovo, conflict with the Mosaic account cf the creation of tho world, were sbowo to bo fallacious and utterly untenable, from tbo writing! of many of tbe most eminent and learned men of the ago. Prominent among these are the practical and scientific investiga tions of tho lamented Qogh Miller. His exam, (nation, of primary, seoondory and tertiary for mations, and tbe various strata of soil and rock which underlie tbe earths surface in tbo king dom of Great Britain, completely established tbo fact that tbe whole is in entire consistence with the ago of the world, and the teachings cf Holy Writ, Tbs sermon was a masterly exposition and vindication of tbo troth of seriptore, and, for the good of the young especially, should bo printed and generally dissemninated. In these trout, loan times, when the landmarks alike of nations, society, religion and common honesty are constantly yielding to the tide of corruption and revolution, and even the laws are made the vehicles of human fraud, it is pleasant to tea our faithful divines standing in the breach and breasting tbo avalanche of sin and infidelity. An open bible and prenchod gospel, are tho only antidotes to tbo depravity of man and the wilos of the dovil. tiik nutation. Nperch or .rtontgoraery lllnlr, at Htlgo, Montgomery County, Kid., October 31. KeUmB-cUisent— How many poor men have wo aiming na whoso condition bits been mended under lUdiaal rule ? Who of them have bought homes for themselves, or are laying np means for their children ? Wo all know of numbers those condition was bettered under Democratic rule. Collins, Free, Talbot, and others whose names will ooenr to yon, got homesteads Under Democratic rule. Tho colored people have got their freedom, and I helped to give it to them, and I would bo glad if they had better clothes aud more to eat and were better housed. But I doubt if they are better off than they were auder the old system, so for os bodily comfort •ad contentment of mind go. The truth Is, that whilst s few persons who are in partnership with the government selling tbs government Seneca stone, snd in selling tbo people clot In s, working tools und articles of food st mormons prices, and taking hundreds of millions of dollar* of tho public money to bnild railroads for themselves are getting enormously rich, every body else is gettiug poorer. Even tho colored men who have been taken into part nership, aud who are receiving higher wages for working on tbe streets of Washington than any farmer con pay them, are not bettering their condition at nil. Everything that tho working, man cats or clothes himself with is made so high by the enormous taxes pnt upon it by tbo wealthy classes, who control tho legislation of Congress, through tho men they elect by money, that tho working classes blush, and whites ore really •laves, for when the fruit of a man's labor in appropriated by others he is in slavery, and it is a system of slavery far less troublesome and more effective than the personal slavery wbioh existed in tbo South a few years ago. Under this new and ingenious system tbe master class are not troubled with the care of their •laves in sickness; they are not obliged to pro vide food and slothing for them. It is net ne cessary for the master to degrade himself by inflicting corporal punishment for idleness and drunkenness. Hanger drives them book to labor more surely thuu the lash, and that labor is ap propriated by the cunning contrivances of the taskmaster, applied through the universal and pervading taxation brought to bear open him. I da not object whatever, to the growth ofthe wealth of any one or any number of oar fellow citizens. Whilst I believe that men are crested eqnsl as respect* rights, I cannot olosa my eyes to the fact that the Creator has clothed them with very different degrees of faculty, and in tended, therefore, that they should be very unequal in possessions and power. Bnt the very object of government is to proteot tbe weak against the strong, and when, instead of aoeompiishing this, it becomes as oars has now beeome, an Instrument in tbe bands of the rapa cious, to prey upon tho weaker and simple men, there is a total perversion of the govern ment. This is our present condition, and a few years continuance of ft will destroy that love for Democratio government which now fills tbe hearts of the oppressed people of the Old World. Never in the history of tho world was there snoh a rapid change in tbo aatnre of any government as there has been in oars. Never was there anywhere snoh strides made by the monopolists in appropriating the wealth of the country and the power of tbe government General Jackson's administration was signalized by the contest with the Bank of the United Slates—a bank of $35,000,000—$5,000,000 of which was saved by the government General Jackson determined to break down that institu tion aa one dangerous to the liberties of tbe people, by the power It wielded over the poli ties of the eountry, and there was never snoh a contest aa ensued. The straggle which the bank made against Jackson, one of the most popular and eapable men the country ever pro duced, was conclusive proof that snoh an insti tution is inconsistent with republican govern ment It was considered a great escape. No other man ooald have weathered the storm and saved the pnblio liberty. Bat what have we now ? Four hundred millions in United States banks, and not a village of 3,000 people in the United States withont one. And there is another drenmstanoe which even more than the wide difference in these amounts marks the bold advances which monopoly has . made in plundering the people. That is, that whilst in,the old bank all but $5,000,000 was fur nished by the stockholders, and on that $5,000,- 000, which was furnished by the government •be government got the profits and had a pro- portionate share of the directory, now tho gov- eminent tarnishes all but 10 per cent, of the Bock, and his nono of the directory and none of the profits. So with the railroad monop olies. The government famishes the money and Und to build tho roads. The companies do not expend or risk a dollar or even pa; the in terest on the United States bonds given to bnild them. The companies own the rasas and lands. $06,000,000 have in bonds alone beenadvon red, and between two and three hundred million acres of land—the choice lands of the continent Their value hi iootlooliblo. A third gigantic moneyed interest which has been legislated into existenoe by the BadiooU is the manufacturing interest Everything worn Ud used by the people pay* taxes not only to the government bnt to the manufacturing monopolies. It is the alliance of these vast moneyed interests with the government which omuStntas the strength of the Radical party. i of tho people who ore the victims to roose the people to the real condition of the country end make them feel that it is necessary for them to act to save any reel liberty for them- [ TUSTIJIO-MAI.N: selves and their posterity, and the victory is I It m«r be oUerrrf th»t no attempt U mod. to hunt won, and the only real obstacle to this iathe up out-of-the-way or unknown places to fiodaamei sectional quarrel which the monoDolies are keen- to enderre this medicine: it U appreciated risht at ing up t'o cover their ^ and keep a portion of the Northern people who I retain have no tharo in their plunder from aniting | TRY with their brethren in the South to establish honest and chcan administration. The object of those measures was to enable tbs Radi cals to continue themselves in authority by the oae of the powers of the government. Mr. Tbad Stevens supposed that when suf frage ires established it would not be necessary to use the military to retain the Republican port; in power afterwords. Bat their defeat in North Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, and through out the South, notwithstanding negro suffrage, showed that this was ■ mistake. Then we had tbe Kn-KInx bill, and we now have martial law proclaimed in South Carolina.
