Permanent Cure of Gravel of
Twelve Years’ Standing-
Stone Passed and to
Be Seen.
Bbbnsiee, Conn., December 15,1869.
Dr. HELHBOLD:
Dear Sir: It ia with mneb pleasure that I write
you upon facta respecting myself. I do not know
hardly how to oxpreas mysei f. I have boon for the
last ten or twelve years tee greateat sufferer man
could be and live, but more sometimes than others.
Tho complaint was the “Kidneys” and “Bladdi
have been sometimes from twelve to fourteen
hoar, and wanted to make water ereiy minute, but
could cot. Havo consulted doctors both in Massa
chusetts and this State, and taken pills, I may say,
by the quart, also liquored medicines; but found
no relief from any, and got worse the last six
months. 1 was so that I could scarcely got about.
oouid not rest night or day. It would soon htvs
been “all np" with me if I had not aeon your ad
vertisement in The Berkshire Courier, headed
Kulney." I read it through, and thought I would
try it. I purchased a bottle; but, mind you, I had
not much faith in it. Why should I, when I had
been trying so many things and coat me so much ?
Well, before I had taken the first bottle I felt bad;
bnt I finished it and got another. By tho time I took
half of the second I still got worse (apparently).
When I walked it seemed as if my right kidney was
falling from its place, and I made up my mind it
was of no use trying any more. And ail this time
the “Buchu” wae doingUa work, bull did not know
it; so 1 gavo it up, and wont to Hartford, on Sat
urday, to ono of the beat doctors in the city. He
said it was tbs neck of the bladder, and I should
havo to undergo an operation. He gave me med
icine, and I went home quite down-hearted. On
Sunday I wae unable to go to church. I had not
taken of his medicine, bet on my return, continued
using the “Bucbn;” and in tho sftornoon I bad a
desire to make water, but oouid not- About one
hour after this I tried again, with the same result;
but tbe next timo I took tho vessel it was the same
as taming a faucet and stopping it off again. It waa
so for three times, and the third time there was
something came through the passage and struck
against tbe side of tho veasel. I examined it, and
it ia tbe ugliest s ono or gravel you ever saw, cov
ered over with little pieces which collected together.
It looks the color of a mud turtle, and is as hard as
flint. So yon see tho “Buchu” was doing its work,
although I waa feeling so badly. I procured another
bottle, thinking there might be some more behind;
but einoe that has passed, which ia eight weeks ago
last Sunday, I havo been as well as ever I was in my
life. I have the stone securely wrapped, and those
who have aeon it in this place arc surprised. I can
not tell yon all; but this is a true story of my case,
and yon are welcome to make such usaof myname
you think proper. I am pretty well known in
Berkshire; alto in Connecticut. The advertisement
caved mo. Why not puhlith more ? Tho Springfield
Republican is a wide-spread paper. If any one
wisbee to see this wondsr, they can do eo. I could
write all day, bnt I think I have said enough this
time; so I remain your ever well-wisher.
A Case of Twenty Years’ Standing
PnTT.4nrT.T-mt, Pa., Jane 25th, 18(7.
H. T. HELHBOLD, Druggist.
Dear Sir: I have been a sufferer for upward of
twenty yean with gravel, bladder and kidney affec
tions, during which time I have need various medi
cal preparations, and been under the treatment of
the most eminent physicians, experiencing bnt lit
tle relief.
Having seen your preparation extensively adver
tised, I consulted my family physician in regard to
using your Extract Bttchn.
I did this because I bad used ail kinds of adver
tised remedies, and had found them worthless, and
some quite injurious ; in fact, I despaired of ever
getting well, and determined to use no remedies
hereafter, unless I knew of the ingredients. It was
this that prompted me to use your remody. As yon
advertised that it was composed of buchu, cubebe,
and j oniper berries, it occurred to me and my phy
sician as an excellent combination ; and with his
advice, after an examination of the matter, and
consulting again with the druggist, I concluded to
to try it. I oommeneod to use it about sight months
ago, at which time I waa confined to my room.
From the first bottle I was astonished and grati
fied at the beneficial effect, and after using it three
weeks was able to walk out- I felt much liko writ
ing to you a full statement of my case at the time
hut thought my improvement might be only tempo
rary, and therefore concluded to defer, and aee if
it would effect a perfect cure, knowing that it would
hoof greater value to you and more satisfactory to
ms.
I am now able to report that a euro is effected,
after using the remedy for five months.
I have not used any now for three months, and
feel as well in ail respects as I ever did.
Your Bncbu being devoid of any unpleasant taste
and odor, a bice tonic and inrigorator of the sys
tem, I do not moan to be witbont it whenever occa
sion may require its use on such occasions.

for the benefit of those similarly afflicted as myself
to say that, after consulting many eminent physi
cians and trying nearly all the best advertised rem
edies, in the vain hope of finding relief from aggra
vated kidney and bladder diseases from which I have
coffered exoeesively for many years, good fortune
finally suggested to me “Helmbold’a Buchu,” which
commenced using with little faith, and no appa
rent beneficial result for about a month. At the
expiration of that timo, howover, I thought I com
menced to experience slight relief,- which encour-
sged me to persoTerein its use. Now, at the expL
ration of four months, although I am an infirm old
man, nearly 78 years of age, and consequently med
icines cannot be expected to favorably affect ms as
they otherwise would, I have found such unspeaka
ble relief and permanent benefit from Mr. Hembold’s
valuable discovery, and I feel I ought to publicly
record the fact as an acknowledgment to him and a
valuable suggestion to the public.

DB. HELMBOLD:
Dost Sir: Having suffered with gravel for up
ward of nine years, and not obtaining any relief
from the various physicians in my section, I visited
Philadelphia for the purpose of having an operation
performed seme ten or eleven weeks since; but, od
my arrival, I saw your advertisement in tho Ledger,
and I determined to try it first, havinga great aver
sion to the operation. I purchased three bottles,
although at the time I had but Iittlu faith in medi
cine in my cue, bnt hoping it might relieve my suf
fering. I soon found my pain to decrease, and felt
much more comfortable. I then purchased ono
dozen bottles. I continued to use it, and at the ex
piration of four weeks I noticed a deposit in my
chamber, and npon inspection I found this to be
gritty, and then determined to examine more close
ly ; and to my emprise I found this to bo small par
ticles, larger than a pin's bead. I continued to use
the medicine, and have collected a fow of tho same,
which I enclose. I continued to pass them until
within three weeks. My water previous to using it
was foverieh, and a sediment would form from it
Since that period it is much lighter, the pain has
ceased, and I am able to inform you that it is now
of a natural color, and I have no pain, or inflamma
tion in any part of my body, and can walk, ride or
rest, without any inconvenience.
I shall leave for home to-morrow, and shall take
a supply with me, as I intend using it for some
time, although I feel well now, and can candidly
say that it has effected a cure when all othor reme
