A very few, we predict. The Sparta Sentinel says there was a man in that town, last w eek, who says he was married in 1865, and is now tbo father of twelve boy children with good prospects for more before Christmas, l’oor woman P. L. Kobinson, E«q„ one of tbe most highly respected citizen of Early county, died at Blake ly test Friday, in bia eighty-first year. From his early youth ho had been connected vrith tbe press, being tbe proprietor of a paper at Greens boro, ae far back as 1830. Oliver Johnson, a negro porter at tbe Georgia railroad depot, in Washington, while rolling track test Tuesday morning, fell to the floor and died in a few minutes. Tbe Columbus Enquirer, of Sunday, says: Exiobawts rxox Alsace.—Mr. F. J. Springer baa this week fonnd employment for three emi grants from this conquered Province. Those emigrants are named respectively Alexander, Victor and Mary Gaetz. They left tbeir native Province because of disaffection to their con querors. They speak French and German with equal fluency, also broken English. It is thought that rather than give adhesion to tbe Prussian Government many of tbe people will seek homes in this country. Tbe Son says an affray occurred on Thurs day, in the Conrt-house, between Sheriff Brad- ord and a lawyer named B. J. Moses, Jr., in which the former waa badly wonted—so macb so that it waa feared one time be wo old die. Bradford had called Moses a liar, and tbe tetter threw him down twice, tbe two falls injuring bim so severely as to bring on spasms. Tbe waiters at tbe Savannah hotels attempted a strike, on Friday, but took very little by the motion. All st the Screven House left, but tbeir places will be filled by white men from New York, she were telegraphed for at onee. At tbe Pulaski House, Marshall House and Pa vilion, only two or three played tha fool. Tbe Savannah Nows, of Saturday, says: Defaulters—Another Oxe Gone Home.—A party well known in this city, who baa a military tula prefixed to bis name, recently left for hie native land. Sinoe bis departure, which waa qmte unexpected to his friends, it lias been dis covered that he drew ont of ono of tbe banks a sum of money belonging to bis wife (ber own earnings,) which ho took with him. The honse with which be was connected has also reason to complain of cortain little irregularities, which will require an explanation on his return. There are two other cases of misplaced oonfidenoe re ported on the streets lately, bnt facts are want ng to bring matters to a public issue. Tbe Branch House, at Whit* Bind, near Sa- vannsh, was burned test Thursday night, caus ing a loss of $31,300, which was folly covered by insurance. The Liverpool and London and Globe lose $4,000, the -Etna and Pha-oix, of Hartford, $7,000 together, the Southern Mutual, of Athena, $1,000 and Homo Iusnranoo of Geor gia, $4,000. The Angnsta Constitutionalist, of Saturday, says: Georgia Gold Bonds.—We had an interview ; resterday with an intelligent citizen of Georgia, ; not returned from Europe, who states that tbe six per cent. gold bonds of Georgia are being hawked about in fintmrial circles in London and Paris, socking purchasers. They have no market prioe. bnt mo shoved off on the beet terms prac ticable upon tbo nnwary, and are bought at low figures by those who know wbat they are about, bnt are willing to take the riak for tbe chances of a large profit. Oar informant says he does not doubt be oonld have bought any quantity of them at 30 to 40 cents in the dollar. But be having them to be fraudulently, or, at least, ille gally issued, be declined to touch them at any prioe. He heard of no particulars, but as he beard H. L Kimball was in Europe, his suspi cions were on tho alert, and he kept clear of them. He came over on the Scotia, and learned from three passengers on board that they had dipped in and were considerable holder* of these bonds. They were, or affected to be, quite star tled at the suggestion that they might be repu diated by the Legislature as illegally issued, and not binding upon the State. Tho Athens Banner says the bill which was presented to tbe Legislature for the endow- ment of the University of Georgia, his been withdrawn for the present Athens had its first snow Thursday night. The Savannah News, of Saturday, says: Pardoned bv the President.—Mr. Philip Fitzgerald, of Macon, sentenced at the teat term of the United States District Court for al leged violation of the revenae laws, baa, afters careful examination of the facts in tho case, been pardoned by the President Mr. Fitzger ald, it appears, was not guilty of having viola- ted the tews, and his pardon is certainly a sig nificant commentary on the administration of justioe in Urn South. Wm. A. Palmer, of Burke county, ia in qnod for enticing two $30 bills from a cheat belong ing to lb. Arrington, of the same oonnty. He was arrested at Angnsta, on Saturday. Captain Wm. Batchelor and Sergeant Mike Hall, of tho Augusta police, had a shooting match in Kelly’s saloon, back of the Globe Ho tel, ou Saturday, which came near ending Ihe latter's career—the ball from Batchelor’s pistol being stopped by a watch which saved Hall’* life. Afterwards Justice Olin called for a band and railed each of them $1,000 in a bond to keep the peace. We clip the foil >*ing from the Angnsta Con stitutionalist : Hailzoad Accident.—From Mr. J. A. Brer - ner, th* court eons Superintendent of the West, era Union Telegraph Company, wo learn that quite a sertous aooident occurred on the Wil mington, Columbia and Angnsta Railroad, near Florenoe, S. C., about 2 o'clock teat Thursday morning. The steeping ooach and the ladies' car were thrown from the track by a broken rail, it ia supposed. There were at the time twelve ptaaenger* in the sleeping oar and throe in tho other, all of whom were more or leea in jured. The aocident occurred upon an embank ment about 30 feet high, and down this tho care tumbled, tending at the foot of it, bottom np- ward. Mr. Brenner was in the sleeping coach, and says that be at first thought, after the tumb ling had oeaaed, that the majority of the pas senger* had been killed, so (even waa the shock. After getting ont of his berth, however, he dis covered that although all had been mors or leas braised, yet none in that car bad been seriously injured. A Mrs. Dotterer and daughter, from Charleston, South Carolina, who were in the other coach fored worse. Tho former fatally injured, it was at first thought, bat we have aeon a dispatch received late test evening which states that the phyeseans attend ing her say that she will reoover. Both ladies were terribly braised by being thrown from one aide to the other of the car.
