Tax eighth Wonder of the World ha* been found

Judgment, and his discovery has proven such
blessing to woman, that it it already known through
out the country aa “Woman's Best Friend.” With
remarkable quickness and certainty it cure* *11

Toe Bctcbeb tic Best Docrox.—It is from food
alone that we can expect to derive strength and
health. Tliia at dement may aetonieh tome. We
ere accustomed to hear enumerated many other
aourcee of health and of strength. Medicines, etim-
ulanta, exercise, sleep, air, all theca are epoken of
as oondodve to strength and health. Conducive,
nsy, to some extent, essential, they may be, but it
is as conditions, not as sourest. Food alone is the
eonroe. It strengthen*. It alas invigorate* and for
tifies : thus both conferring health and warding off
its. Nay, when unfortunately it has already
obtained a lodgment, it even eaeieta to throw disease
off. For, Indeed, health ia (imply nutrition. A thor
oughly healthy body, and a thoroughly well nour
iahed l ody, are one and the same thing. Hence the
importance of food, and henoe, also, the impor
tance of an efficient tonic stimulant such as Dr.
Gottlieb Fiscb's Bitten, which enables ns to derive
from food the fall measure of nourishment con
tained in it!
This subject continued next week under "Regu

there ia a loaaof vitality in which Dr. Prioe'e Blood
Enricber will not prove beneficial. Cases given up
aa past help, when sinking into hopeless decline,
have recovered renewed life and energy by Its nee.
In addition to its blood enriching properties, it is a
tine tonic, builds up and constructs, renders diges
tion more rapid and effectual, while it eliminates all
impurities. Druggists have It for sale.

WiNrrn Wtenox —Warm clothing alone trill not
protect the body against the consequence* of the
sudden d preeaion of temperature which ia con
comitant of early winter. Flannel qgxt the akin

animal vigor. That property la the apecial prerog
ative of Hoatetter'a Stomach Bitters, which is, there

cuwpKutlia which are mow, ...... .
For example, a course of the greet vegetable inrig-
orant, commenced now, will be almost sure to pre
clude chills and fever, bilious eofio, disorder* of the
atomacb, constipation, and many other complaints
which are often the direct or indirect effect of an
atmosphere eurcharged with eold, unwbolsome va
por. Moreover, the system toned and regulated
by this means is much more likely to resist pulmo
nary disease than it would otherwise be; for the
infiuoneo of searching medicine pervade* all the
organs, and CTory fiber and tissue of the frame.
Persons whose vital powers ire weak, especially in
valid ladies and the aged, are earnestly recommend

Term Usvaxlxnq Falsehood.”—In all theories,

there is always a true side and a false one. It mat
ter* not whether we treat of philosophy, religion,
polities, or th* arts and ariencaa-th* laws of me-

false as well as true principle with which to grappld

trievable error. .
"Bat troth, crushed to earth, will rise again—
The eternal years of God are bars;
While error, wounded, writhes in pain,
And dice amid her worshipers.” *
So has it ever been with those miserable imitators
of Plantation Bitters. They and th«ir vile Ufa-de

oblivion which a discriminating public will always
finally award them, while Plantation Bitten still

Washington, December 6.—Senate—Mr. An
thooy introduced a bill amending the Election
Act making criminal the use of any writing, de
vice, token, word or gesture with the intent to in
timidate voters, or connseling, or indirectly pro
curing the nse of such means of intimidation.
Mr. Robertson endeavored to introduce an
amnesty bill, bnt it was declared ont of order.

tionment bill, bnt reached no conclusion.
The Kn-klax Committee, through Stevenson,
offered a resolution for the removal of politioal
disabilities, extending the time within wbieh
the habeas corpus may be suspended, and mak
ing every member of the Kn-klnx and other
treasonable conspirations, responsible civilly
and criminally, for the seta of fellow members.
Washington, December G.—The Commis
sioner of Agriculture, in his report accompany
ing the President's message, speaking of tbe
needs of Southern agriculture, says it must be
conceded that the course of agriculture in the
Southern States has not been oondneted with
thst care, skill and regard for ultimate results
which hive characterized the operations of
farmers in other States. While these lands are
oontinnonsly devoted to cotton and tobacco,
until they have arrived at a state of exhaustion,
those of the North are oontinnaUy improving
by rotation of crops, which is absolutely
essential to the life of tbe soil itself, and
without wbieh farming and planting had
better be abandoned. These impressions
have induced me to torn my attention to tbe
State* to seek some mode by which the infla-
enee of this department may be directed to
benefit them and to find ont whether their im-
riementa and especially their seeds, may not
Jy improved, and how, in tbe diatribe-
tion of seeds and plants we may best reach
those to whom they may be profitably sent.
He says that tbe Southern States suffer greatly
in these interests for want of grasses, in the n
of which these productions wonld be greatly in
creased by renderings rotation of crops necessa
ry. Clover, with its deep roots and rye gran, iaa
strong grower and will well endure the hot son
of the South. Referring to tbe distribution
of seeds tbe Commissioner says, “I am satis
fied that the mole heretofore pnrsned ia erro
neous. Tbe quantity sent is entirely too small
for even an experiment. A pint or a quart of
wheat, oats, or other cereal, eannot be sne-
eesafoily grown, and such experiments almost
uniformly fail, because the quantity is too
small. I need sot here discuss the reasons for
this, bnt the remit is manifest to those who
have tried the experiment. It wonld be far
better to pat a bail or whole bushel of seed
into tbe hands of one conscientious and care
ful person, than to divide the same quantity
tmonff tea or twentT.”

confer suffrage, and thst Congress should not
be permitted to overrido the Constitntiou. He
argned that Congress could give Federal Courts
no right to try violations of State laws, and
showed that the indictment put the prisoners m

I have carefully examined the sample of “ Cen

from any deleterious substance whatever; the ab

1 find ita alcobolio strength to be exactly that of

Oarolina, says.
I have carefully inveatigated the sample of "Cen
tury” Whisky aent by yon for inspection, and pro
nounce it to be free from adulteration, and as euch
i can recommend its use to the public. I have ex
amined it for coppor, lead, the alkaloids, and other
poisonous aubetaEcee, but am happy to ray I have
found nono of them. The inspected Whisky Con
tains 51 per cont, by volume, or 43 50 per cent, by
weight, of alcohol; 0.06 per oent. of aeh. To the
taste it is mid, mellow end high flavored.

Prof. JOHN DARBY, Editor of tbe American Gro
cer, New York, says:
We have received a sample of the "Centni7
Whisky" for analysis- We have conducted tbe
analysis with great care; there is notraoe of metal
in it. and nothing that should not come from the
fermentation and distillation of the finest grains.
The bouquet is natural, depending upon a minute
quantity of volatile oil or ether. We have analyzed
many Whiskies, and have never before met with one
as strong ns this; they are generally several de
grees below the government standard, tbis is
slightly above. We are not a oonnoiaenr in liqnon,
bat if purity and strength are desirable qualities
the ‘ Century Whiskies" must stand pre-eminent.
Dr. J. M. CARNOCHAN, Health Officer or the Port
of New York, eaya:
I have tried the “Century” Whiskies and find
them to be of very superior quality. I am happy to
recommend them, aa I believe them to bo entirely
free from deleterious or hurtful properties. The
analysis of Frof. Silltman is sufficient proof of their
groat parity, and I believe that they will beoome
very popular Whiskies wherever they ere once
need.

Health OfficerPort of New York, etc.
Prof. TILDEN, of Washington, D. C., says:
I have analyzed the specimens of the “Century”
Whisky sent to me with request to that effect. I
find uo Fusel Oil and no trace of any deleterious
mineral or metallic substance. The liquor proaenle
po feature which does not belong to tbe beet
Whiskies, while it offers some unucual points of
excellence. Its oolor ia dark, owing to the presence
or Caramel, which undoubtedly improves its tone;
tbe taste is smooth and the bead good. Tbe re-
markable strength of thie Whisky, ooupled with the
unmistakable marks of age which ere to be per
ceived, ita freedom from harmful principles too of
ten found in each liquors, and its natural bouquet,
justify me in pronouncing it both for medicinal and
domestic purposes a superior article.
