Frail, x.id Pazcaimoy.—This ia a season tries the frame and the constitution. If there be a weak spot in either, tbe chilling damps, the ma larious fogs, the varieties of temperature that mark the commencement of the winter season are rare to find it out. There are few system* that have not a weak spot somewhere, and the wisest thing that any man or woman can do is to fortify it by a course of Hoetetter'a Stomach Bitten, and thus keep tbe enemy at bay. In war, when a city ia menaced the first thing to be done la to strength' on the ramparts. The earns policy should be adopted with the bnmtn body, when its direst foe, malaria, ia abroad. If the stomach la weak, this tonic will lend it vigor; if tbe bowels are morbidly sensitive, this alterative will regulate them; if the liver ia inert, this wholesome stimulant will ronse it; If there la constipation, this aperient will cure it; if there is nervous debility, this nervine will teplaoe it with nervous vigor; if there ia impurity in the blood, this deparent will neutralize it; if there is a cloud on the spirits, this exhilarant will dispel it These are facte that have been demon strated every day for the laat twenty yean. Can as much be said for any other medicine—or rather, can as much be proved l tor anything may be said try the unscrupulous. Food is Lite —“One man," says the proverb, may lead “the horse to the water, but twonty men cannot make him drink." But it is also true that the hone cannot drink unless be be taken to the water. In like manner, while it ia true that each part of the body must be in a condition of readi ness to take up fiom tho blood the nutriment it needs, it ie also true that there must be abondtnoe of good blood for each part to take up nutriment from. Now. in order to have good blood, we must have, on tbe ono band, a sufficiency of appropriate whole rams food, and, on the other band, we must have a sufficiently keen digestive power, that ia, ■imply—dissolving power—in the stomach. Accident on the Southwestern Railroad. On Monday night last, an sect dent occurred to the accommodation train on the Southwestern Road near Powerxville. Tha axle of the tender broke and threw four or five cars off the track, but for tunately no person was hurt. None of the cars were materially injured. The trains on Tues day were delayed a short time in consequence of the accident, but made all the connections in Macon. Wobth Loosing At.—We know that the weather is cold, very cold, but still we would advise oar readers to stop a moment or taro when they pas Brown A Co'*, store on Second street, and inspect those exquisite chroma's on exhibition in their show windows. That basket of peaches really have the “fax” on them, and aa for the two half lengths of lovely girls one goes boms dissatisfied with his better half after a glance et them. Fine Arts.—We hope oar citizens will not forget that the sale of those magnificent paint ings in the old postoffiee building will oom- menoe to-night at 7 o’clock. We insist that there be a Urge attendance end that they mani fest a liberal disposition in their parch axe«. bach an opportunity to procure real gems of art is rarely afforded to the citizens of Macon, and we cut assure them that a visit to tho hall daring the day will folly satisfy the best con noise ora of the truthfulness of onr assertion. Don’t fail to call and examine the collection da ring the day, if yon hare not heretofore. “Liobtsixo CnasoEs.”—The above caption b certainly applicable to the oondition of the weather “at this time present.” Oa Taesity night at 12 o'clock it was so warm aa to make a long walk, snch as we take nightly, in reaching onr domicile, very unpleasant. In walking a little more than half a mile we were thrown into a heavy perspiration; at seven o'clock yesterdiy morning shawls and overcoats combined were^ barely sufficient to make one oomfortable. There mnst have been, within six or seven hours, a change of at least fifteen to twenty degrees in tbe temperature of tbe westher. Snch sadden changes mnst neeessirily be injurious to hoalth, and it behooves ns all to use every preeantion to prevent pneumonia. Another False Alarm.—Yesterday afternoon At abont five o’clock, tho fire bells sounded an alarm, and soon tbe streets presented a scene of general confusion. The fire companies were in groat commotion, all hastening to their engine i*. Two of tho companies had their en gines ont, ready to move to the scene of action, before it was ascertained that another false alarm had been given. We inquired eagerly for the cause of tha trouble, bat oonld learn no thing definite in regard to it Theso sadden changes in the weather are good occasions for fires, and we eantion onr citizens to be extremely earofol. Maoon has been truly fortnnato in her exemption from the ravages of fire, and every preeantion abonld be token daring the winter months to prevent a conflagration. Onr fire department is one of tho best in tho State, but lot ns remember that Chicago boasted the beet waterworks and firo department in America. Her fate shows the folly of dependence upon earthly aid for tho extinguishment of tho de vouring element in closely crowded cities when heavy winds are blowing. The Moulton Concert To-night.—Wo are gratified to know that Mrs. Monlton will havo an audience to-night that will be a fit tribnto from Georgia's “Central City ’’ to her genius, and the well won Yamoaa n vocalist sho now enjoys. She appeared at Atlanta on Monday and Tuesday nights, and completely captivated all hearts, ears and eyes. The papers there are more unanimously enthusiastic in their bravos than we have ever witnessed before. We print upon the outside of this issne something abont her which will be found interesting. The fob lowing song, whioh will bo sang by Mrs. 11. to night, should alone bo inducement sufficient to peek tho hall: TENDED AND TRUE. He etolo from its neet in my golden lutir, A knot of ribbon bine; He placed on my hand a jewel rare. And whispered soft aa be held it there— Tender and true—adieu! adieu! The almond eras bending with blosromt white, The roses blushed through the dew; The violet smiled In the slowing light. And Life waa happy and Hope was bright. Tender and true—adieu! adieu! They brought my soldier homo to mo. And my knot of ribbon blno; Bat the cruel woand on tho brow was hid By the flqr draped over the coffin lid. Tender and true—adieu! adieu! Tho almond flowers in the breezes shako, The rcees still blush through tbe dow; But the springing of Hope will never awake. And the lone, lone heart will wail till it break. A Brilliant Wedding.—We oopy the follow: ing from the Atlanta Confutation of yesterdey- Sccirrr News.—Long before eight o’clock last night, the grace, beauty and elite of At lanta commenced gathering at the Central Pres byterian Church, to witness tbe nuptial* of Thomas J. Phillips and Mis* Erie Hayden, daughter of Judge J. A. Hayden. An arch of evergreen and magnolia blooms spanned the altar, a beautiful and tasty monogram of the bride and groom being suspended from tha cen ter of the arch. The following were the attendants: Miss Luey Hayden, Mias Georgia Ruasel), Min Julia Reeves, Min Mamie Pitta, Mis* Alice Glenn, Miss Emma Moore, Mis* Mary Will*.— George Shaefer, J. C. Boyd, W. H. Mitchell, - Hobson, A. J. Beall, J. F. Mobley and W. Phillips, Jr. The attire of the bride was lovely and in ac cord with oorrect taste. The assemblage lost light of the magnificent beanty of tbe dress in the bewitching appearance of the brida As the bridal cortege passed up the stales of the church, the organ, trader the skillful manip- ulationaof the accomplished Min Carrie Cowles —herself the incarnation of musio—pealed forth in sweetest tones: “Soft o'er the fountain Breaks the day too soon— With thy dark eyes’ splendor. Where tbe warm light love* to dwell— Weary looks yet tender Speak* the fond farewell— Nits, Juanita, let me linger by tfar side; Nila, Juanita, be my own fair bride." Tbe marriage oeremony waa performed by the venerable Dr. J. 8. Wilson, in an impressive manner. As the newly wedded, with their attendant*, came out, the organ gave a “ wedding march ’ in grand style. And it ta not inappropriate to remark that the beanty and grace of the fair bridesmaids ex torted nniveraal admiration, and we should not be surprised to see some of them follow Miss Erie’s bright example at an early day. The reception at the residence of Judge Hayden from 9 to 12 x., last night, was a moet brilliant affair. There was an ocean of laoe surrounding a sea of lorelinesa. Pen fails in the attempt to decribe it. Mr. and Mrs. Phil lips, with their attendants, left at 2 o’clock this morning on a special train for Macon, where they will spend to-day, and froca thence Mr. and Mrs. Phillips will go to Charleston. Their pathway now appears to them carpeted with roses; their skies radiant with hope, and their light golden-hued. May they find but few thorns in the first as they journey through life; may their skies never be overcast, or their light dimmed with sorrow’s pall Bat as the fragrance of the Corona Buphalit rises, ming ling the fragronoo of the orange and the mag nolia with the iweeler incense of mutual love— may each feel the strength of the ties that bind them—“our hearts are but one" for aye- May their vows pledged to each last night at the bymenial altar outlive the mutations of time, asd only lose itself amid the glow of heaven's glories and tho rhapsodies of a purer lova The party arrived in Macon yesterday morn ing, and the happy couple, we Ieara, left for Charleston in the afternoon. We congratulate the fortunate bridegroom, and to the blushing, beautiful bride, we tender many wishes for happiness aa complete and unalloyed as falls to mortal lot. May they live to see their lock’s silvered o’er by the frosts of time, with their brows unwrinkled by a furrow of care or trou ble; and when they have “slept the Bleep that knows no breaking” may they meet together at 1 the “marriage supper of the Lamb.” I'liDA'rmlonal.
