not what to do.
And now oomss the singular part of the story.
Hts father was inform'd by some one that there
was a “fin extractor" in the aity, named J. B.
diallings, wbo could core the wont eases of
burning, and more in desperation then from any
belief ia what be had heard, the a01 cted father
went off in search of the “eitranior.” lie found
hlti, aud be at once stated that he had no donbt
but that he could effect a core. The Fire Ex
tractor then went with Mr. Spinks to the house
of the latter. There the boy was found appa
rently upon the verge of convulsions, and Buf
fering the moat exquisite pain. The Fire Ex
tractor brought witu him no case of medicine,
no earn of iostrnaaenf a Those wbo wore pres
ent say that he merely went up to the child acd
put bis hands upon the burned places. He let
them remain there about five minutes and then
removed them. The child immediately began
to experience relief, and in about twenty min
utes declared that he was entirely free from
pain. Kbortly after that time he was entirely
at bis eats, his sight was restored, he sat down
ia a chair and sat by the fire, hia bnrna being
expoaed to the heat of the blaxo. In the after
noon be was so well that he went oat into the
struct and resumed the sport with hie playmates
which the explosion in the morning had no sud
denly interrupted. Since that time be has been
free from pain, and has continued to improve
steadily.
The abovo is oertainly a wonderful story, and
some of onr readers may imagine that we are
drawing a pretty heavy draft upon their oredn-
tily. Bat facts speak for themselves, and evi
dence is within reach which will snatain every
assertion made In the statement. The homed

vestigating the affair. The Fire hilraotor is

The Rook Island Argus cleinrs for L. W.
Clemons, of Pleasant Valley Township, the
greatest corn crop of the year i. e., 154 bushels

This is, undoubtedly, an exceptionally fine

to the record—a record commencing in 1820 and
