Ihe New Lien Law,
We are indebted to Senator Simmons for the
following copy of the amendment to the Lien
Law, by which itwili be seen that any body can
now struggle over their crops with liens a foot
deep if they want to—bat woe to the men who
give liens on their crops. They sre like the
organ grinder's monkey—withe chain around
their ankle, dancing and collecting funds for
their owner:
AS ACT
To regular the Law of Liens in the Stste of
Georgia:
Szcnox 6. Bt it further enacted. That fac
tors, merchants, landlords, dealers in fertil
isers, and all ether persona famishing supplies,
money, farming utensils or .other ait-.cies cf
necessity to mats crops, and also, all persons
famishing dothiDg and medicines, supplies or
provisions for the support of families, or medi
cal service, tuition or school books, shall have
the same right to secure themselves from the crop
of the year in which aaid things are done or fur
nished, as is now given by law, nndtr tho act
of 1865-G, to factors, wito the following condi
tions : All of the liens provided for in this
section, must bo crested by special contract in
writing, and every person giving a lien under
thit lection, hating previously given a lien er
liens under it, or any other lien, shall, when
giving a n<ne lien under this section, on the same
property to another person, inf orm such person,
if interrogated as to the facts, of the amount of
such lien or liens, and to ic/um given; and such

whether resident or transient, who shall bring
or introdnoe into the oily, any horses or mules,
for the pnpose of traffic or sale, shall, before
offering tbe same or any part of them for sale
or exchange, or barter, apply to and obtBin
from tbo citok of Conneil a licenoe, which shall
be prescribed by the Mayor, a) in cases of itin
erant dealers in merchandise, regard telng brd
to the nnmber of horses or mules, and the ehar-

Be it farther ordained by the authority afore -
said, That, if nny such dealer or trader shall
sell, exchange or barter, or offer to sell, ex
change, or barter any males or horses within
tho limits of Ihe city, without having obtained
snah license, be, she, or they shall be liable to
a fine of not mo.-e than one hundred dollars, or
by compulsory liber epon the streets for thiity
davs.

said, That the lioense of one hundred dollars
required of the keeper of livery stables shall
not exempt them from the provisions of tips
ordinance.
