I oan’t say how long my. father has been acquainted with it; from my earli est reoallection he spoke of it as "014 Tom," "the old frog." I have known it for a great number of year*—l can answer for fifty-seven yer.ra. It makes its appearance (always a welcome visi tor,) with warm weather, and remains with us till fall, appearing morning and evening to our peat amusement, haring been trained to do many things, such as leaping, turning summersaults, bolding alternately by its feet aod hands to a a _.jj - nn . awiiywina ftn J •tttHivltnrv a Amy the manner of aslack rope performer, marching erect on its hind legs, and at the word of command going through tha manual exerciee.
