Humors of Advertising
Tbe Stamford (Conn) Advocate is
the medium through which the faithfu’
Sarah exposes the vices of her faithless
swain, in the following words:
To the Public.—Whereas, my hus
band, Edward U. Jones, has falsely ad
vertised that I have left his bed and
board, and that he will pay no debts of
my contracting, &c., this is to inform
the public that the aforesaid Edward H.
Jones has neither bed nor board for roe
to leave, he having been liviug at the
expense of my father—and further, un
der preteuce of procuring money to pay
his way to Birmingham, Conn., he bor
rowed a dollar of my father, and with
that paid for this lying advertisement
against me, and even after that das
tardly act, lie took all the money I hail,
and borrowed every cent in my mothers
posessim, and left the town.
For the past three months he has
been kept from nak-dness and starva
tion by tbe exertions o f my self and rel
atives; he squandered in'dissipation all
the money his inborn laziness would
allow him to earn.
The scamp need not have advertised
that he would pay' no ckbts of my con
tracting, for the public well know that
lie would not pay even hip own.
He is a lazy, ungrateful, loafing scotin
drcl—not content with living at the ex
pense of my relatives and borrowing
their mon*y, he publishes an outrageous
lie. His bed and board! indeed—if
left to himself, his bed would be no
thing but a Board, and I should not be
much surprised if the bed he dies in
were made of boards with a strong
cross-beam overhead.
