The corps of Etigme- rs of this rond' returned to Buiubritlge on Sunday evening last, having completed the locution of the line the larger portiou of the route between this city and Colutnba?. On Tuesday morning lust the corps commenced to ran the line to Tallahassee, and will probably / 'xh Florida by to night. We are informed by the President ol this road that a sufficiency of stock has men- subscribed to complete the road bed to Cuthbert; ami that so soon ns ihe line is run tuTallabassee, and specifications can be made out, he hi tends letting out to contractors forty miles of the road towards Cuili- bert and twenty miles towards Talla hassee, or to the Floridu-liuo. The entire’ grading of the road from the Florida line to Columbus will 1 probably be under contract be-, fore the first of December. The Bollock has commenced suit against Angier, State Treasurer, for $2,100, which he b43 pocketed by pat ting out the -State funds at interest in Bank. Correspondence from the North BT V,\ E. HAHILTOX. “Relief.”—The Supreme Court has endorsed tlie Relief Luws throughout in all their retro-active features—the home stead bill ditto, aud declares notes given for slave property aud hire worthless. Gocd if True.—d mlgo Chase has caused the followiug to be given by tel egraphs to the Press of the country: “I am out of all future political con tests, aud no oue ueed be jealous of me heieafter.” The Tbomusville Enterprise says the Post-office iu that city lias decamped for parts unknown. The Bruuswick App-al oithe23th nit., says that Dr. H. H. Harley was assassi nated on the previous Wednesday, on the B. aud A. Railroad. Regular passenger-trains are running between -Savannah and Buunvuk. A portiou of the press gang of State are having a fine time visiting the iron-works in North G“«r<ri>i. The AttupiiliiiisMeeting- The railroad meeting held m Attapul- fms on Wednesday was largely uttcuded, aud much interest manifested in the rood to Tallahassee; yet little more was done than to prepare the way for a large subscription in the future. There will probably be but three sta tions on this end of the road, and Attn- pnlgtis will be the third one from Talla hassee and the first one from B tinhrdge, ami will be the most important one of the three. We couut largely upon the liberality of the people of “Hack.” There are five gentlemen iu and ne;i this noted village who could easily sul scribe to this enterprise $25,000. while there are many more who are able to make their subscription considerably over two'thousand dollars each. We want them to weigh the matter well, and do their whole duty to a work that is to add so largely to the value of their lands and the importance of their village and section. Let every man prove his intelligence and public spirit. The Bullock-angier -Suit.—Tho ■ Atlanta Constitution says that in our notice yesterday morning of the law suit instituted by Governor Bullock against Treasurer Angier, there was an error unintentionally made by us. Governor Bullock, for the uso -of the State, has instituted suit against Treasurer Angier for $21,000, alleging that he has used himself, the funds of the State over forty-two times, and therefore liable in that amount under the law that imposes a penalty of $500 for each and every time the Treanrer uses or nliowB others to use the funds of tlie State. The dec laration wus fl d tiv H. P. Farrow, At torney Guueral for the State, We learn that Governer Bullock has given a re taining fee $500 to a legal firm in this case. Other suits are on the tapis, and the fight is expected to open in earnest The French Cable, it is announced, is open for the transmission of messages between the Uuited States and Europe. The rates to be charged on a message betwe^u Boston and- France, or Great Britain and Ireland, will be sevpn dollars and fifty cents'in gold for ten words, seventy-five ceuts in geld for each addi tional word. The address and signature will be charged for. These are tlie same rates as those charged by the English eabfe for 'the transmission of messages between New York and Great Britain. Suspension »FFactors Work.—Some of the New England mills that produce print cloths having worked up their stock of raw material, have suspended operation nntil the new crop of cotton cornea iutd D .be market It is also stated that some of the large mills on Fall River which make this kind of cloth contem plate putting their mills on 6hort time until trade assumes n more encouraging aspect in regard to this particular line of business. .’ Tabt.—The Courier-Join cal thinks Mrs. Stove’s next volumes will be en titled “Salty Scenes, or.the Secret His tory of Sodom and Gomorrah, including valuable documents fonn 1 among the. -private papers of the late Mrs. Lot.” or “Aont Harriet’s Ash-Hopper, hy the authoress of Uueie Tom's Cubiu,” m * ‘The-Life of Saint Jezebel of Ply month, er “The Literary Chiffonier, a New Eogland Tragedy ” or "The Scandal Monger’s Remorse," a sequel to Sheri- dan’s “School for Scandal.** * Thk Iron Olio vauh to ha put to Virginia.—A speci al to ihe New York Herald of the 17'h says : There seems no doubt now that the iron clad oath will bo adtuiuisiered to members elect of the Virginia Legis lature, uiid that the places of those who cannot take it will be filled with the d-'fes'ed candidates. The ueS Legislature will have to elect two Senators in accord nice with an act of Congress passed in 18311. Tli Legislature just elected in l'eunessee, will also nuder the ame law elect one on the second Tuesday after it organizes. Sound Advice —Hive you a cut, a burn, an nicer, wound or bruise ? Mor- L tier from C.Whbert. Acocst 30, 1869. Dear A g s :—A title of twenty miles from Cntlibrrt, iu a northeast direct-ion, will take us into a neigliborhoo-l in the north western corner of Terrelt county. The ride takes us across some creeks and we reac ted here we found the p per? j branches of htnpid and pure water, mostly taken up with IVsi-leii Gr.itit’s , fl'»wiug between hills not- very noteil for Mosari-osiTY.— -Ve have been shown, by Dr. T. S. Hopkins of this city, two female children delivered by him ou Fhnrsihty last, of a colored woman, so completely united as to have hut oue abdomen and oue thorucic cavity They are united face to face, and from the upper part of the sternum or chest to the umbilicus. So complete is the uuion that that portion «if them may be con sidered as one. The heads, arms, legs aud bodies of these children, save at the points of the nniou, are semmetrical and perfect.- They weighed seven and a half pounds and weie of mature birth. They are preserved ill alcohol and we are in formed are to he sent as a contribution to the Museum of the Savannah Medical College. The Doctor inf -rms ns that, notwith standing the severe trial through which the mother passed in the delivery of this rare specimen of hnmauity, she is doing well.—7 homasville Enterprise. Old Dog Tray ever Faithful.—Sat urday night, as the up train left Chehaw. a large black d g was seen following after and yelping. As the “Joues” in creased her speed the d->g mended up. Soon he attracted the attention of the passengers and engineer, aud all began eueonraging him with yells and shouts. Coming to the large creek this side of the station he plunged boldly in, swam across aud whs soon alongside of the fleeting train. Fences, ditches, thickets nor anything seemed to impede his pur suit, aud his persistency gained the sym pathy of the eutire truiu. On a straight line for a mile or more the engineer put his machine to her best, to see how old Tray would come ont, but be seemed to keep up as easily as before. It turned out that the poor fellow’s master had got ff at Clteliaw, aud when the train start ed, supposing h«an aboard, was determ ined to see him through. At Notssn.ga he was captured amid the sympathies of the passengers.—Opdikn Lacranotive. The Savannah a>~d Charleston Rail road.—The Charleston News is inform ed that eight hundred men are now at work npon tbia important railroad, that the Savannah river bridge is already Building, and ere long Ihe hands will be working simultaneously on both ends of the rood. The track has already been laid to a point some miles beyond Gra- hamville, and there is good reason for thinking that the road will he open throughout before the New Year comes in- J Died for the -South.—A Confederate hlier by the name of A. Kyle was put ff a steamboat at this poiDt th-irtly after the battle|of Belmont or Eort onelson. Ho had been .wounded in battle, nnd died bet we-n this and Evans ville. He was decently interred in our cemetery, and now occupies, n place in Dr. Tyler’s lot i.i onr cemetery. U|»od his tombstone is inscribed the following: A KYLE, C. & A. Co. C, 18th La.
