A large road was drawn together to hear the distin ('ui-hed speakers . —Athens Banner , 22 d inst. Accident and Death. —On Saturday, night, i*th inst., a few miles below Madison, on the Georgia R. He was in the employment of the company, a!l j ff ben last seen, before his death was sitting upon the Road, waiting for the arrival of the co-laborers who were to haye joined him at that point. Tbe supposition is that he there fell and thus lost his life.— Madison Visitor , 22 d inst. The SroEM.—With which we were visited, on Friday, the 13th, was truly terrific, probably more so, than any that we have experienced for ; many years. Something done at Last.—The capital stock I ot the Edgefield and Cheatham Plank Road has been all taken, with the exception of some hun creis of dollars which but await a simple con tingency before being added on. Thus have our | people at length proved themselves capable of i doing a useful deed in handsome style. The ! work will be commenced at an early day and pushed or to rapid completion.
