GWINNETT &. IRWIN COUNTY LANDS
* FOR SALE.
THE undersigned wishing to lemove farther
South, offers for sale the FARM on which he
resides, situated on the Appalachee river, seven
miles east of and on the road leading from Law
renceville to Jefferson, containing four hundred
and fifteen acres, principally Oak and Hickory
land. There are about seventy acres under fence;
about forty of whieh is in cultivation, there is six
teen acres ol prime bottom land in cultivation, and
about the saaie quantity uncleared. The bottom
land, will produce from thirty to fifty bushels of
Corn per acre; there is on the premises a new com
fortable Cottage dwelling, 34 by 18 feot Also, a
Saw and Grist Mill, all in geod order, having been
built about three years. There is attached to the
place, a prime site for a small Merchant Mill; a
good Mill hero would pay well, being in a thickly
populated neighborhood, and tho nearest good
Wheat Mill in any direction, being at least seven
miles. Gwinnett county and this sectier. particu
larly, is noted for health and pure, bracing air, tho
climate in summer is delightful.
The fallowing terms will be made to an approved
purchaser: one third cash, balance in two equal
annual installments, carrying interest from date.

pentine business There is an excellent Mill seat
on Rood creek, which runs through No 254,
which is less than one mile from Sutilla river,
with sufficient water to drive a Circular Saw It is
now a question settled beyond doubt, that the
Savannah A Pensacola railroad will be built, and
will p ass in the neighborhood of these lands, thero
are, or will be, three outlets for Lumber and Tur
pentine.
Ist Down the Allapahaw river, to where the
Brunswick railroad will cross the river in the II th
District of Lowndes, and then to Brunswick by
railroad.
2d. Down theSatilla river, to where the Savan
nah A Pensacola or Mobile railroad, will cross the
river, and thence to Savannah by railroad.
3d. To Brunswick by river.
These lands too are as productive, as the Tine
lands are in many sections of South Carolina and
Georgia. Long staple Cotton can be grown to
advantage, which generally commands in market,
from 30 to 50 cents per pound. If theseiands are
notsoldat private sale, they will be sold at Auc
tion in Augusta, daring Fair week.

AUGUSTA, GA., during the week ix**/!
commencing Oetoborl 7, 1858.
The Secretary’s office will be opened at Augus
ta, on the Ist of Octobor, for the purpose of receiv
ing entries.
Entries ofLive Stock, or any other articles, may
be forwarded to “ Secretary of Southeru Central
Agricultural Society, Augusta, Georgia.” per mail,
any time alter first of October. All articles thus
forwarded, should be carefully labelled the with ow
ner’s name and residence.*
Miscellaneous Articles should he on the Fair
Grounds as early as Saturday, Oct. 15 ; but ani
mals may be brought forward at any time previous
to 9 A. M., on Tuesday, October 18.
All articles intended for exhibition only, will be
transported to and from the Fair, by the different
Railroads, free of charge, and visitors to the Ex
hibition will only be required to pay one faro go
ing and returning. This arrangement will com
mence on the 12th, and end on the 22d of October
—thus allowing ample time for the transfer of all
stock and articles of every description to and from
the Show Grounds- The rates of board at the dif
ferent Hotels, and also Hack and Omnibus hire,are
fixed at a certain standard, from which there can
be no deviation, and nothing will be left undone
on the part of the Society or Committee of Ar
rangements, to promote the comfort and enjoyment
of visitors and strangers.
All persons having business with the Society, or
wishing information, not here furnished, will ad
dress the Secretary, after tho first of October, at
Augusta, Ga.

invited the Rev. RUFUS M. WHITE, who had
just at that moment, resigned the charge of St.
Johns Church, to accept the Rectorship of the
Institute. These appointments, together with the
continuance of the Rev. Mr BRAGG, at tho In
stitute, should give pai ents every confidence that
such as tho school has heretofore been, such will it
be hereafter. I commend is most heartily to the
Diocese, assuring it, that the school has never been
in finer condition, and praying it to use every exer
tion, not to permit an Institution to go down, which
