fIAHE undersigned, inventor of Parkhurst’s Cot-
ML ton Gin, which gins Cotton without saws or
ribs, bog 3 leave to inform Cotton Planters and all
others interested in raising Cotton, and preparing
it for market, that the superiority of his machine
overall other machines for Ginning Cotton is fully
established.
It is operated with less power and produces a
better staple of Cotton than any other machine;
and at the same time gins with gr at rapidity.
The introduet on of the carding principle in the
charring of Cotton fro n the seed will create a new
era in the history of this most important staple.
In preparing this important improvement many
mechanical difficulties have presented themselves
from timo to time, which have been who ly over
come. and these machines are offered to the pub
lic in tho full confidence that they will be received
with unparalled favor.
S. R. PARKHURST.
This machine will bo on exhibition and in op

planters will take the trouble to bring with them
a few pounds of Seed Cotton, they can have it
ginned, and compare it with that made from their
own Gins. if oct 14

{SPECTACLES
IF YOU will ano must wear SPECTACLES, get
them exactly suited to the eye, or they will do
more harm than good. THE OPTOMETER is an
instrument invented by Prof Stampfer, of the
Polytechnical School of Vienn , for the purpose of
measuring with scientific exactness the degroo of
convexity the eye had lost by age, and it applies
accurato numbers of glasses to counteract tho de
fect. Nono then, need hereafter complain that
their spectacles pain their eyes, who call on us to
be fitted with Spectacbs. Como and seeforyeur

obtain this instrument, as well to inform ourselves
with reference to tho application of Glasses to
remedy the defects of vision, we take pleasuro in
informing our patrons and the public, that we have
become solo agents of Messrs. Ball A Co., for the
sale of their recently invented Cups, which render
spectacles entirely usel ss, even to the most Aged
pers .ns, where eyes have lost their convexity from
ago We append, ia favor of this invention, the
following letter from Prot. Finney, of Oberlin Col

Tho fact in regard to the improvement in my
sight by the use of your Cups are these:
I was wearing GLASSES ol 18 inches focus—l
have had them ehango twice; and am now wri
ting in a bad light with glasses of 48 inches focus,
which? is* the lowest magnifying power used by
Messrs. Pike. I can now read common print with
ease with the lowest magnifying glasses. I havo
used them agreeably to your directions about four
weeks. I see not why I may not expect, in a short
time, to havo my sight quite restored by continu
ing the usa of the cups I cannot but regard this
discovery ns of great value. Yonrs, trulv,
(Signed) C. G. Finney.
P. S. lamin my sixtieth year, and have worn
glasses about ten years.
Feb’y. 7, 1853. — Prof. Finney writes — l have,
or tho last six or eight months, used them (tho
Cups) but seldom. The improved stoto of my
sight rendering me forgetful and neglectful of their
steady use. I have received much benefit and no
perceptible injury whatever from their use.
With my blinds open I read comfortably, and
write easily without glasses.
Other letters can be seen in pamphlet, published
