I have been absent a great portion of this time,

knowledged by all who have used thorn, both in
durability and quality of Cotton.
I shall now devote my individual attention in

up in tho neatest possible manner: in short, I shall
make tho ordinal Oglesby Gin, which has been so
celebrated for durability and fine Cotton, having
taken the premium in this State as well as that of

then it was said by foreign dealers that my Cotton
was of a superrior quality. In conclusion, my late

CHERRY PECTORAL,
For the rapid Cure of

CONSUMPTION.
OP all the numerous medicines extant, (and some of
them valuable) for the cure of pulmonary com
plaints, nothing has ever been found which could com
pare in its effects with this Preparation. Others cure
sometimes, but at a!l times and in all diseases of the
lungs and throat where medicine can give relief, this
will do it. It is pleasant to take, and perfectly safe in
accordance with the directions. We do not advertise
for the information of those who have tried it but
those who have not. Families that have known its
value will not be without it, and by its timely use,
they are secure from the dangerous consequences of
Coughs and Colds which neglected, ripen into fatal
aonsuiption.
The Diploma of the Massachusetts Institute was
awarded to this preparation by the Board of Judges in
September, 1847 ; also, the Medals of the three great
Institutes of Art. in this country ; also, the Diploma
of the Ohio Institutes at Cincinnati, has been given
to the Chbrrt Pectoral, by their Government in
consideration of i's extraordinary excellence and use
fulness in curing affections of the Lungs and Throat.
Read the following opinion, founded on the long ex
perience of the eminent Physician of the Port and
city of St. Johns, May 8,1851.
Dr J. 0. Ayer—Five years’ trial of your Cherry Pec
toral in my practice, haH proven what I foresaw from its
composition, must be true, that it eradicates and cures
i the colds and coughs to which we, in this section, are
I peculiarly liable.
I think its equal has not yet been discovered, nor do
I know how a better remedy can be made for the dis
tempers of the Throat and Lungs.
J. J. BURTON, M. D., F. R. S.
See what it has done on a wasted constitution, not
only in the following cases, but a thousand more :
Shdbcrt, Jan. 24,1851.
Dr. Ayer: In the month of July last, I was attacked
by a violent diarrhoea in the mines of California. I re
turned to San Francisco in hope of receiving benefit
from a change of climate and diet. My diarrhoea ceas
ed, but was followed by a severe cough—and much
soreness. I fiually started for home, but received no
benefit from the voyago. My cough continued to grow
worse, and when I arrived in New York, I was at once
marked by my acquaintances as a victim of consump
tion. I must coniess that I saw no sufficient reason
to doubt what my friends all believed. At this time
I commenced taking your truly invaluable m dicine
with little expectation of deriving any benefit from
its use. You would not receive these lines did I not
regard it my duty to state to the afflicted, through
you, that my health, in the space of eight mffnths, is
fully restored. I attribute it to the use of your Cher
ry Pectoral. Yours, truly, WILLIAM W. SMITH.
Washington. Pa., April 12,1848.
Dear Sir: Feeli’g that I have been spared from a
premature grave, through your instrumentality by the
providence of God, I will take the liberty to express to
you my gratitude.
A Cough and the alarming symptoms of Consump
tion had reduced me too low to leave me anything like
hope, when my physician brought me a bottle of your
Pectoral.” It seemed to afford immediate relief, and
now in a few weeks time has restored me to sound
health. If it will do for others what it has done for
me, you are certainly one of the benefactors of man
kind.
Sincerely wishing yon every blessiDg, I am, very re
spectfully, yours, JOHN J. CLARKE,

, Celebrated German Bitters,
FRBPARB* BY
DR. C. M. JACKSON,
No. 120 Arch street, Philadelphia.
■ Their power oyer the above diseases is not excelled,
if equalled, by any other preparation in the United
States, as the cures attest, in many cases after skilful
physicians had failed.
These Bitters are worthy the attention of invalids.
, Possessing great virtues in the rectification of diseases
of the Liver and lesser glands, exercising the most
searching powers in weakness and affections of the
digestiveorgans, they are, withal, safe, certain and
pleasant.
i BEAD AND BE CONVINCED.
The “Philadelphia Saturday Gazette,” says of DR.
HOOFLAND’S GERMAN BITTERS.
“ It is seldom that we recommend what are termed
Patent Medicines, to the confidence and patronage of
our readers; and therefore when we recommend Dr.
Hoofland's German Bitters, we wish it to be distinctly
! understood that we are not speaking of the nostrums
of the day, that are noised about for a brief period
and then forgotton after they have done their guilty
race of mischief, but of a medicine long established,
universally prized, and which has met the hearty ap
proval of the faculty itself.
“Scott's Weekly” said, Aug. 25
“Dr. Hoofland’s German Bitters, manufactured by
Dr. Jackson, are now recommended by some of the
most prominent members of the Faculty as an article
' of much efficacy in cases of female weakness. Per
sons of debilitated constitutions will find these Bitters
advantageous to their health, as we know from expe
i rience the salutary effect they have upon weak sys
i terns.”
MORE EVIDENCE.
, J. G. Moore, Esq., of the Daily News, said, October
1 31st:—
“ Db.Hoofland’s Gskman Bittbrs. —We are try
* ing this renowned medicine for a stubborn disease of
i the bowels, and can with truth testify to its efficacy.—
i We have taken the contents of twe bottles, and we
have derived more benefit from the experiment than
we derived previously from years of allopathic treat
ment at the hands of our first physicians.”
The Hon. C. D. Hineline, Mayor of the city of Cam
den, N. J.,says:
1 “ tioofland' s German Bitters, —Wo have seen many
flattering notices of this medicine, and the source from
which they came induced us to make inquiry respecting
its merits. From inquiry we were persuaded to use it,
, and must say wo found it specific in its action upon
diseases of the Liver and digestive organs, and the pow
erful influence it exerts upon nervous prostration is
really surprising. It calms and strengthens the nerves,
bringing them into a state of repose, making sleep re
freshing.
“If this medicine was more generally used, we are
satisfied there would be less sickness, as from the
stomach, liver, and nervous system the great majority
of real and i raaginary diseases emanate. Have them in
a healthy condition, and you can bid defiance to epi
demics generally. This extraordinary medicine we
would advise our friends who are at all indisposed, to
give a trial—it will recommend itself. It should, in
tact, be in every family. No other medicine can pro
duce such evidences of merit.”

HOLLOWAY’S PILLS.
CURE OF A DISORDERED LITER AND BAD DIGESTION.
Copy of a letter from Mr. R. W. Kirkus. Chomist, 7,
Prescott street. Liverpool, dated 6th June, 1851.
To Professor Holloway:
Sir, —Your Pills and Ointment have stood the high
est on our sale list of Proprietary Medicines for some
years. A customer to whom I can refer for any en
quiries, desires me to let you know the particulars of
her case. She had been troubled for years with a dis
ordered liver, and bad digestion. On the last occasion,
however, the virulence of the attack was so alarming,
and the inflammation set in so severely, that doubts
wm-e entertained of her not being able to bear up un
der it; fortunately, she was induced to try your Pills,
and she informs me that after the first, and each suc
ceeding dose, she had great relief. She continued to
take them, and although she used only three boxes, she
is now in the enjoyment of perfect health. I could
have sent you many more cases, but the above, from
the severity of the attack, and the speedy cure, I
think speaks much in favor of your astonishing Pills.

Sparta, June 30,1849.
Dear Friend Stewart: —l have been home now just
two mouths. When I last saw you. I had but little
hopes of ever getting any hotter. But I have now the
pleasure of thanking you for recommending me to take
Dr. Rogers’ Syrup of Liverwort, Tar and Canchalagua.
I got a dozen bottles of it and took home with me,
determined to make a fair trial of it, as I had done
with everything else. I have only taken four bottles
of it, and I must say it has done me more good than
any other medicine I have ever taken. On my first
taking it, it increased tho expectoration, and I raised
a great deal *f bloody matter from my Lungs. But
that has now ceased, and so has my cough nearly. I
cough but little now, and expect soon to be entirely
free from it. I consider it an invaluable medicine, and
shall recommend it to ail who are afflicted with a
Coagh or Diseased Lungs.

I let a yeung lady who had the CONSUMPTION,
and had bled a good deal from the Lungs, and doctored
several months with our Physician, but grew werse,
have one bottle of it. and it cured her. It acted almost
miraculously in her case.
