OF all the numerous medicines extant, (and some of

will do it. It is pleasant to take, and perfectly safe in

for the information of those who have tried it but

they are secure from the dangerous consequences of

Read he following opinion, founded on the long ex

city of St. Johns, May 8, 1851.
Dr J. C. Ayer—Five years’ trial of your Cherry Pec
toral in my practice, has proven what I foresaw from its
composition, must be true, that it eradicates and cures
the colds and coughs to which we, in this section, are
peculiarly liable.
I think its equal has not yet been discovered, nor do
I know how a better remedy can be made for the dis
tempers of the Throat and Lungs.
J. J. BURTON, M. D., F. R. S.
See what it has done on a wasted constitution, not
only in the following cases, but a thousand more :
Sudbury, Jan. 24,1851.
Dr. Ayer: In the month of July last, I was attacked
by a violent diarrhoea in the mines of California. I re
turned to San Francisco in hope of receiving benefit
from a change of climate and diet. My diarrhoea coas
ed, but was followed by a severe cough—and much
soreness. I finally started for home, but received no
benefit from the voyago. My cough continued to grow
worse, and when I arrived in New York, I was at once
marked by my acquaintances as a victim of consump
tion. I must conless that I saw no sufficient reason
to doubt what my friends all believed. At this time
I commenced taking your truly invaluable m dicine
with little expectation of deriving any benefit from
its use. You would not receive these lines d : d I uot
regard it my duty to state to the afflicted, through
you, that my health, in the space of eight months, is
fully restored. I attribute it to the use of your Cher
ry Pectoral. Yours, truly, WILLIAM W. SMITH.
Washington, Pa., April 12, 1848.
Dear Sir: Feeli g that I have been spared from a
premature grave, through vour instrumentality by the
providence of God, I will take the liberty to express to
you my gratitude.
A Cough and the alarming symptoms of Consump
, tiou had reduced me too low to leave'me auything like
1 hope, when my physician brought me a bottle of your
“ Pectoral.” It seemed to afford immediate relief, and
now in a few weeks time has restored me to sound
health. If it will do for others what it has done for
me, you are certainly one of the benefactors of man
kind.
Sincerely wishing you every blessing, T am, very re

Celebrated German Bitters,
PUBPARBB BY
DR. C. M. JACKSON,
No. 120 Arch street, Philadelphia.
Their power over the above diseases is not oxcellod,
if equalled, by any other preparation in the United
States, as the cures attest, in many cases after skilful
physicians had failed.
These hitters are worthy the attention of invalids.
Possessing great virtues in tho rectification of diseases
of the Liver and lesser glands, exorcising the most
searching powers in weakness and affections of ths
d'gestiveorgans, they are, withal, safe, certain and
pleasant.
READ AND BE CONVINCED.
The “ Philadelphia Saturday Gazette,” says of DR.
HOOFLANDS GERMAN BITTERS.
“ It is seldom that we recommend what are termed
Patent Medicines, to the confidence and patronage of
our readers; and therefore when we recommend Dr.
Iloofiand's German Bitters, we wish it to be distinctly
understood that we are not speaking of the nostrums
of the day, that are noised about for a brief period
and then forgotton after they have done their guilty
race of mischief, but of a medicine long established,
universally prized, aud which has met the hearty ap
proval of the faculty itself.
“ Scott's Weekly” said, Aug. 25
“Dr. Iloofiand's Gorman Bitters, manufactured by
Dr. Jackson, are now recommended by some of the
most prominent members of the Faculty as an article
of much efficacy in cases of female weakness. Per
sons of debilitated constitutions will find these Bitters
advantageous to their health, as we know from expe
rience the salutary effect they have upon weak sys-
MORE EVIDENCE.
J. G. Moore, Esq., of the Daily News, said, October
31st:—
“Du. Hoofland’s German Bitthrs.—We are try
ing this renowned medicine for a stubborn disease of
the bowels, and can with truth testify to itseflicacy.—
We have taken rue contents of two bottles, and we
. have derived more benefit from tho experiment than
we derived previously from years of allopathic treat
ment at the hands of our first physicians.”
The Hou.C.D. Ilineline, Mayor of the city of Cam
den. N. J., says:
“ Hoofland's German Bitters, —We have seen many
Battering notices of this medicine, and the source from
which they came induced us to make inquiry respecting
its merits. From inquiry we were persuaded to use it,
and must say we found it specific in its action upon
diseases of the Liver and digestive organs, and the pow
erful influence it exerts upon nervous prostration is
really surprising. It calms aud st rengthens the nerves,
bringing them into a state of repose, making sleep re
freshing.
“If this medicine was more generally used, we are
satisfied there would be less sickness, as from the
stomach, liver, and nervous system the great majority
of real aud imaginary diseases emanate. Have them in
a healthy condition, and you can bid defiance to epi
demics generally. This extraordinary medicine we
would advise our friends who are at all indisposed, to
give a trial—it will recommend itself. It should, in
iact, be in every family. No other medicine can pro
duce such evidences of merit.”

Prescott street, Liverpool, dated Gth June, 1851.
To Professor Holloway :
Sir, —Your Pills and Ointment have stood the high
est on our sale list of Proprietary Medicines for some
years. A customer to whom I can refer for any en
quiries, desires me to let you know the particulars of
her case. She had been troubled for years w ith a dis
ordered liver, and bad digestion. On the last occasion,
however, the virulence of the attack was so alarming,
and the inflammation set in so severely, that doubts
were entertained of her not being able to bear up un
der it; fortunately, she was induced to try your Pills,
aud she informs me that after the first, and each suc
ceeding dose, she had great relief. She continued to
take them, and although she used only three boxes, she
is now iu the enjoyment of perfect health. I could
have sent you many more cases, but the above, from
the severity of the attack, and the speedy cure, 1
think speaks much in favor of your astonishing Pills.

Sparta, June 30,1849.
Dear Friend Stewart; —l have been home now just
two months. When I last saw you. I had but little
hopes of ever getting any better. But I have now the
pleasure of thanking you for recommending me to take
Dr. Rogers’Syrup of Liverwort, Tar and Canchaiagua.
I got a dozen bottles of it- and took home with me,
determined to make a fair trial of it, as I had done
with everything else. I have only taken four bottles
of it, and I must say it hare done me more good than
any other medicine I have ever taken. On my first
taking it, it increased the expectoration, and liaised
a great deal «f bloody matter from my Lungs. But
that has now ceased, and so has my cough nearly. I
cough but little now, and expect soon to be entirely
free from it. I consider it an invaluable medicine, and
shall recommend it to all who are afflicted with a
Cough or Diseased Lungs.
*******
I let a young lady who had the CONSUMPTION,
and had bled a good deal from the Lungs, and doctored
several months with our Physician, bui grew worse,
have one bottle of it, and it cured her. It acted almost
miraculously in her case.
