HOLLOWAY’S PILLS.
CURE OF A DISORDERED LIVER AND BAD DIGESTION.
Copy of a letter from Mr. R. W. Kirkus. Chemist, 7,
Prescott street. Liverpool, dated 6th June, 1851.
To Professor Holloway:
Sir, —Your Pills and Ointment have stood the high
est on our sale list of Proprietary Medicines for some
years. A customer to whom I can refer for any en
quiries, desires me 'to let you know the particulars of
her case. She had been troubled for years with a dis
ordered liver, and bad digestion. On the last’occasion,
however, the virulence of the attack was so alarming,
and the inflammation set in so severely, that doubts
were entertained of her not being able to bear up un
der it; fortunately, she was induced to try your Pills,
and she informs me that after the first, and each suc
ceeding dose, she had great relief. She continued to
take them, and although she used only three hoses, she
is now in the enjoyment of perfect health. I could
have sent you many more cases, but the above, from
the severity of the attack, and the speedy cure, I
think speaks much in favor of your astonishing Pills.

Dear Friend Stewart: —l have been home now just
two months. When I last saw you, I had but little
hopes ot‘ over getting any better. But I have now the
pleasure of thanking you for recommending mo to take
Dr. Rogers’Syrup of Liverwort, Tar and Canchalagua.
I got a dozen bottles of it and took home with me,
determined to make a fair trial of it. as I had done
with everything else. I have only taken four bottles
of it. and T must say it has done mo more good than
any other medicine I have ever taken. On my first
taking it, it increased the expectoration, and I raised
a great deal es bloody matter from ray Lungs. But
that has now ceased, and so has my cough nearly. I
cough but little now, and expect soon to bo entirely
free from it. I consider it an invaluable medicine, and
shall recommend it to all who are afflicted with a
Cough or Diseased Lungs. PRg
1 let a young lady who had the CONSUMPTION,
and had bled a good deal from the Lungs, and doctored
several months with our Physician, but grew werse,
have one bottle of it, and it cured her. It acted almost
miraculously in her case.
Your sincere friend, F. M. Cory.

cherrY pectoral,
For the rapid Cure of
COUGHS, COLDS, HOARSENESS,
BRONCHITIS,WHOOPING-COUGH,
CROUP, ASTHMA, AND
CONSUMPTION.
OF all the numerous medicines extant, (and some of
them valuable) for the cure of pulmonary com
plaints, nothing has ever been found which could com
pare iii its effects with this Preparation. Others care
sometimes, but at all times and in all diseases of the
lungs and throat where medicine can give relief, this
will do it. It is pleasant to take, and perfectly safe in
accordance with the directions. We do not advertise
for the information of those who have tried it but
those who have not. Families that have known its
value will not be without it, and by its timely use,
they are sooure from the dangerous consequences of
Coughs and Colds which neglected, ripen into fatal
consumption.
The Diploma of the Massachusetts Institute was
awarded to this preparation by the Board of Judges in
September, 1547 ; also, the Medals of the three great
Institutes of Art. in this country; also, the Diploma
of the Ohio Institutes at Cincinnati, has been given
to the Cherry Pectoral, by their Government in
consideration of its extraordinary excellence and use
fulness in curing affections of the Lungs and Throat.
Read the following opinion, founded on the long ex
perience of the eminent Physician of the Port and
city of St. Johns. May 8,1851.
Dr. J. C. Ayer—Five years’ trial of your Cherry Pec
toral in my practice, has proven what I foresaw' from its
composition, must be true, that it eradicates and cures
the colds and coughs to whioh we, in this section, are
peculiarly liable.
I think its equal has not yet been discovered, nor do
I know how a better remedy can be made for the dis
tempers of the Throat and Lungs.
J. J. BURTON, M. D., F. R. 8.
See what it has done on a wasted constitution, not
only in the following cases, but a thousand more:
Sudbury, Jan. 24,1851.
Dr. Ayer: In the month of July last, I was attacked
by a violent diarrhoea in the mines of California. I re
turned to San Francisco in hope of receiving benefit
from a change of climate and diet. My diarrhcea ceas
ed, but was followed by a severe cough—and much
soreness. I finally started for home, but received no
benefit from the voyago. My cough continued to grow
worse, and when I arrived in New York, I was at onM
marked by my acquaintances as a victim of consump
tion. I must conlessi that I saw no sufficient reason
to doubt what my friends all believed. At this time
I commenced taking your truly invaluable m dicine
with little expectation of deriving any benefit from
its use. You would not receive these lines did I not
regard it my duty to state to the afflicted, through
you, that my health, in the space of eight months, is
fully restored. I attribute it to the use of your Cher
ry Pectoral. Yours, truly, WILLIAM W. SMITH.
Washington, Pa., April 12, 1848.
Dear Sir: Feeli >g that I have been spared from a
premature grave, through your Instrumentality by the
providence of God, I will take the liberty to express to
you my gratitude.
A Cough and the alarming symptoms of Consump
tion had reduced me too low to leave me anything like
hope, when my physician brought me a bottle of your
“ Pectoral.” It seemed to afford immediate relief, and
now in a few weeks time has restored me to sound
health. If it will do for others what it has done for
me, you are certainly one of the benefactors of man
kind.
Sincerely wishing you every blessing, I am, very re

“ It is seldom that we recommend what are termed

J. G. Moore, Esq., of the Daily News, said, October

“Dr. Hoofland’s Gkrmas Bittsrs.—We are try
ing this renowned medicine for a stubborn disease of
the bowels, and can with truth testify to its efficacy.—
We have taken the contents of twe bottles, and we
have derived more benefit from the experiment than
we derived previously from years of allopathic treat
ment at the hands of our first physicians.”
The Ron. C. D. Ilineline, Mayor irt tho city of Gam
den, N. J.,says:
“ Iloofland's German Bitters, —We have seen many
flattering notices of this medicine, and the source from
which they came induced us to make inquiry respecting
its merits. From inquiry we were persuaded to use it,
and must say we found it specific in its action upon
diseases of the Liver and digestive organs, and the pow
erful influence it exerts upon nervous prostration is
really surprising. It calms and strengthens the nerves,
bringing them into a state of repose, making sleep re
freshing.
“If this medicine was more generally used, we are
satisfied there would be less sickness, as from the
stomach, liver, and nervous system the great majority
of real aud imaginary diseases emanate. Have them in
a healthy condition, afid you can bid defiance to epi

would advise our friends who are at alf indisposed, to
give a trial—it will recommend itself. It should, in
fact.be in every family. No other medicine can pro

HOBENSACK’S WORM SYRUP —An article
founded upon Scientific Principles, compound
ed with purely Vegetable substances, being per
fectly safe when taken, and has never been known
to fail in curing the most obstinate case. Worms
can never exist when this remedy is onco used,
from the fact that it not only destroys them but
removoa all the slime and muous which may re
main.
THE TAPE WORM.
This worm is the most difficult one to destroy of
all that inhabit the human body. It grows to an
almost indefinite length, and becoming so coiled
and fastoned in the intestines and stomach as to
produco fits, St. Vitus’ Dance, Ac., which is tho
cause of many going to the grave, not believing
that these complaints have their origin from the
Tape Worm; consequently they do not use the
proper medicines for their disease. To those who
are afiiicted with this awful foe to health, I recom
mend tho use of my W orm Syrup, and Liver Pills;
tho Syrup to bo taken in doses of two table spoon
fuls three times a day, then take from five to eight
of my Liver Pills, to dislodge and pass the worm.
By strictly following these directions, tho most ob
stinate cases of Tape Worm ean be speedily cured.
ROUND OR STOMACH WORM.
This worm is usually found in tho small intes
tines, and is the worm most common to children,
yet it is not entirely confined to them, as adults
have frequently been known to suffer with them.
The Symptoms most prominent while affected with
this worm, aro hardness and fullness of tho belly,
slimy stools, looseness of the bowels, picking at the
noso, a blueish streak under the eyes, Ao. If you,
or any of your children have any of,tho above
symptoms, HOBENSACK’S WORM SYRUP can
safely bo depended upon—by using it you have a
certain, safe, and spoody euro; and if after using
it according to the directions, the pationt is not
restored to health, and tho worms thoroughly era
dicated from the system, you can rest assured there
is no remedy beyond the grave, as lor fail, there is
no such word as fail with thoso whouso my Worm
Syrup.
ASCARIDES OR SMALL THREAD WORMS.
These worms, to which the human system is lia
ble, aro tho most troublesomo of all others. They
are generally to be lound in tho rectum, and if al
lowed to remain, from tho irritation they produce,
lay tho foundation for serious disorders, such as
inflammation of the bowels, and other derango
monts of the stomach. Tho best and safest medi
cine that can be used is lIOBENSACK’S WORM
SYRUP. Such is tho astonishing power of my
medicines over Ascaradies, that I defy any ono to
produce a case where my Worm Syrup and Liver
Pills arc recommended to bo used they will not cure,
All that is necessary is to use the Syrup in accord
ance with directions on each bottle; and in caso a
gentle purgativo is required in order to allay tne
irritation they produco, the Liver Pills by their
sympathizing action and healthv operation upon
the bowels, is tho most pleasant medicine that can
bo taken.

The following commendation is from an agent re
siding at Tienton, Tennessee :
Trenton, Gibson Co., Tennessee, Nov. 7, ’4B.
Messrs Soovm &. Mead— Gentlemen: The He
brew Plaster is becoming popular in this section. There
is a lady in this county who says she would not be
without this Plaster for five hundred dollars a year.
She was afflicted for some time with an enlargement of
the spleen, which gave her a great deal of pain. The
swelling and pain had extended up nearly to the arm
pit, and occasionally she could scarcely breathe. She
was confined for a considerable time, during which
she was attended by some of our best physicians,
but they gave her no relief. She procured a box
of the Hebrew Plaster, and it relieved her almost im
mediately, and now she keeps a supply of it on hand
constantly. These facts you are at liberty to use as
you think proper—they are substantially true.
Respectfully, yours &c. JESSE J. WELLS.
