I have been absent a great portion of this time,
on a visit to the North, experimenting and getting
up a new Gin, as well as improving, the original
Saw Gin, together with suitable machinery for this
business, to its highest perfection, as will be ac
knowledged by all who have used them, both in
durability and quality of Cotton.
I shall now devoto my individual attention in

make tho orginal Oglesby Gin, which has boon so
celebrated for durability and fine Cotton, having
taken the premium in this State as well as that of

then it was said by foreign dealers that my Cotton

g IR Your Pills and Ointment have stood the high
est ou our sale list of Proprietary Medicines for some
years. A customer to whom I can refer for any en
quiries, desires me to let you know the particulars .of
her case. She had been troubled for years with a dis
ordered liver, and bad digestion. Od the last occasion,
however, the virulence of the attack was so alarming,
and the inflammation set in so severely, that doubts
w, re entertained of her not being able to bear up un
der it; fortunately, she was induced to try your Pills,
and she informs me that after the first, and each suc
ceeding dose, she had great relief. She continued to
take them, and although she used only three boxes, she
is now in the enjoyment of perfect health. I could
have sent you many more cases, but the above, from
the severity of the attack, and the speedy cure, I
think speaks much in favor of your astonishing Pills.

Sparta,June 30,1849.
Dear Friend Stewart: —l have been home now just
two months. When I last saw you, I had but little
hopes of ever getting any better. But I have now the
pleasure of thanking you for recommending me to take
Dr. Rogers’ Syrup of Liverwort, Tar and Canchalagua.
I got a dozen bottles of it and took home with me,
determined to make a fair trial of it, as I had done
with everythin? else. I have ouly taken four bottles
of it, and I must say it has done me more good than
any other medicine I have ever taken. On my first
taking it, it increased the expectoration, and I raised
a great deal *f bloody matter from my Lungs. But
that has now ceased, and so has my cough nearly. I
cough but little now, and expect soon to be entirely
free from it. I considorit an invaluable hiedioine.aiid
shall recommend it to all who are afflicted with a
Cough or Diseased LuDgs.
I let a young lady who had the CONSUMPTION,
and had bled a good deal from the Lungs, and doctored
several months with our Physician, but grew worse,
have one bottle of it, and it cured her. It acted almost
miraculously in her case.
Your sincere friend, F. M. Cory.

CHERRY PECTORAL,
For the rapid Cure of
COUGHS, COLDS, HOARSENESS,
BRONCHITIS,WHOOPING-COUGH,
CROUP. ASTHMA, AND
CONSUMPTION.
OF all the numerous medicines extant, (and some of
them valuable) fo>- the cure of pulmonary com
plaints. nothing has ever been found which could com
pare in its effects with this Preparation. Others cure
sometimes, but at ail times and in all diseases of the
lungs and throat where medicine can give relief, thi* |
will do it. It is pleasant to take, and perfectly safe in
accordance with the directions. We do not advertise
for the information of those who have tried it but
those who have not. Families that have known its
value will not be without it. and by its timely use,
they are secure from the dangerous consequences of
Coughs and Colds which neglected, ripen into fatal
consumption.
The Diploma of the Massachusetts Institute was
awarded to this preparation by the Board of Judges in
September, 1847 ; also, the Medals of the three, great
Institutes of Art. in this country ; also, the Diploma
of the Ohio Institutes at Cincinnati, has been given
to the Cherry Pectoral, by their Government in
consideration of i's extraordinary excellence and use
fulness in curing affections of the Lungs and Throat.
Read the following opinion, founded on the loug ex
perience of the eminent Physician of the Port and
City of St. Johns, May 8,1851.
Dr. J. C. Ayer—Five years’ trial of your Cherry Pec
toral in my practice, lias proven what I foresaw from its
composition, must be true, that it eradicates ancl cures
the colds and coughs to which we, in this section, are
peculiarly liable.
I think its equal has not yet been discovered, nor do
I know how a better remedy can be made for the dis
tempers of the Throat and Lungs.
J. J. BURTON, M. D., F. R. S.
See what it has done on a wasted constitution, not
only in the following cases, but a thousand more :
Sudbury, Jan. 24,1851.
Dr. Ayer: In the month of July last. I was attacked
by a violent diarrhoea in the mines of California. I re
turned to San Francisco in hope of receiving benefit
from a change of climate and diet. My diarrhoea ceas
ed, but was followed by a severe cough—and much
soreness. I dually started for home, but received no
benefit from the voyago. My cough cou'inued to grow
worse, and when I arrived in New York, I was at one*
marked by my acquaintances as a victim es consump
tion. I must coniess that I saw no sufficient reason
to doubt what my friends all believed. At this time
I commenced taking your truly invaluable m dicine
with little expectation of deriving any benefit from
its use. You would not receive these lines did I not
regard it my duty to state to the afflicted, through
you, that my health, in the space of eight months, is
fully restored. I attribute it to the use es your Cher
ry Pectoral. Yours, truly, WILLIAM W. SMITH.
Washington, Pa., April 12,1848.
Dear Sir: Feeling that I have been spared from a
premature g- ave, through your instrumentality by the
providence ol God, I will take the liberty to express to
you my gratitude.
A Cough and the alarming symptoms of Consump
tion had reduced me too low to leave me anything like
hope, when my physician brought me a bottle of your
“ Pectoral.” it seemed to afford immediate relief, and
now in a few weeks time has restored me to sound
health. If it will do for others what it ha 3 done for
me, you are certainly one of the benefactors of man
kind.
Sincerely wishing you every blessing, I am. very re
spectfully, yours, JOHN J. CLARKE,

Celebrated German Bitters,
PREPARES BY
DU. C. M. JACKSON,
No. 120 Arch street, Philadelphia.
Their power over the above diseases is not excelled,
if equalled, by any other preparation in the United
States, as the cures attest, in many cases after skilful
physicians had failed.
These Bitters are worthy the attention of invalids.
Possessing great virtues in the rectification of diseases
of the Liver and lesser glands, exercising the most
searching powers in weakness and affections of the
digestiveorgans, they are, withal, safe, certain and
pleasant.
READ AND BE CONVINCED.
The “ Philadelphia Saturday Gazette,” says of DR.
HOOFLAND S GERMAN BITTERS.
‘“lt is seldom that we recommend what are termed
Patent Medicines, to tho confidence and patronage of
our readers; and therefore when we recommend Dr.
Hoofland’s German Bitters, we wish it to be distinctly
understood that we are not speaking of the nostrums
of the day, that are noised about for a brief period
and then forgotton after they have done their guilty
race of mischief, but of a medicine long established,
universally prized, and which has met the hearty ap
proval of the faculty Itself.
“Scott's Weekly” said, Aug. 25
“Dr. Hoofland’s German Bitters, manufactured by
Dr. Jackson, are now recommended by some of the
most prominent members of the Faculty as an article
of much efficacy in cases of female weakness. Per
sonsof debilitated constitutions will find these Bitters
advantageous to their health, as we know from expe
rience the salutary effect they have upon weak sys
tems.”
MORE EVIDENCE.
J. G. Moore, Esq., of the Daily News, said, October
31st:—
“ Du. llootlasd’s Gbrmxn Bittkrs. —We are try
ing this renowned medicine for a stubborn disease of
the bowels, and can with truth testify to its efficacy.—
We have taken the contents of two' bottles, and we
have derived more benefit from the experiment than
we derived previously from years of allopathic treat
ment at the hands of our first physicians.”
The lion. C. D. Hineline, Mayor ol the city of Cam
den, N. J.,says:
u Hoofland's German Bttters, —Wo have seen many
flattering notices of this medicine, and tho source from
which they came induced us to make inquiry respecting
its merits. From inquiry wc were persuaded to use it,
and must say we found it specific in its action upon
diseases of the Liver and digestive organs, and the pow
erful influence it exerts upon nervous prostration is
really surprising. It calms and strengthens the nerves,
bringing them into a state of repose, making sleep re
freshing.
“If this medicine was more generally used, we are
satisfied there would be less sickness, as from the
stomach, liver, and nervous system the great majority
of real and imaginary diseases emanate. Have them in
a healthy condition, and you can bid defiance" to epi
demics generally. This extraordinary medicine we
would advise our friends who are at all indisposed, to
give a trial—it will recommend itsedf. It should, in
fact, be in every family. No other medicine can pro
duce such evidences of merit.”

SSOO CHALLENGE.
HOBENSALK’S WOHAI SYRUP.—An article
founded upon Scientific Principles, compound
ed with purely Vegetable substances, being per
fectly safe when taken, and has never been known
to fail in curing the most obstinate case. Worms
can never exist when this remedy is once used,
from the fact that it not only destroys them but
removes all the slime and mucus which may re
main.
THE TAPE WORM.
This -worm is tho most difficult one to destroy of
all that inhabit the human body. It grows to an
almost indefinite length, and becoming so coiled
and fastened in the intestines and stomach as to
produce fits, St. Vitus’ Dance, Ac., which is the
cause of many going to tho grave, not believing
that these complaints have their origin from the
Tape Worm ; consequently they do not uso tho
proper medicines for thoir disease. To those who
are afflicted with this awful foe to health, I roeom
rnend the use of my W orm Syrup, and 1,1 vor Pills;
tho Syrup to be taken in doses of two t. spoon
fuls three times a day, then take from to eight
of my Liver Pills, to dislodge and pass the worm.
By strictly following these directions, the most ob
stina e casesof Tape Worm can be speedily cured.
ROUND OR STOMACH WORM.
This worm is usually tound in the small intes
tines, and is the worm most common to children,
yet it is not entirely confined to them, as adults
have frequently been known to suffer with them.
The Symptoms most prominent while affected with
this worm, are hardness and fullness of the belly,
slimy stools, looseness of the bowels, picking at the
nose, a blueish streak under the eyes, Ac. If you,
or any of your childron have any of the above
symptoms, HOBENSaCK S WORM SYRUP can
safely be depended upon—by using it you have a
certain, safe, and speedy cure; and if after using
it according to the directions, the patient is not
restored to health, and tho worms thoroughly era
dicated from the system, you can rest assured there
is no remedy beyond the grave, as lor fail, there is
no such word a3 fail with those who use my Worm
Syrup.
ASCARIDES OR SMALL THREAD WORMS.
These worms, to which the human system is lia
ble, are tho most troublesome of all others. They
are generally to be found in the rectum, and if al
lowed to remain, from the irritation they produce,
lay the foundation for serious disorders, such as
inflammation of the bowels, and other derange
ments of the stomach. The best and safest medi
cine that can bo used is HOBENSACK’S WORM
SYRUP. Such is tho astonishing power of my
medicines over Ascaradies, that I defy any one to
produce a case where my Worm Syrup and Livor
Pills are recommended to be used they will not euro,
All that is necessary is to use the Syrup in accord
ance with directions on each bottle; and in case a
gentle purgativo is required in order to allay tne
irritation they produce, the Liver Pills by their
sympathizing action and healthy operation upon
the bowels, is the most pleasant medicine that can
bo taken.

Tho following commendation is from an agent re

Trenton, Gibson Co., Tennessee, Nov. 7, '4B.
Messrs Scotil A Mead—Gentlemen : The He
brew Plaster is becoming popular in this section. They 9
is a lady in this county who says she would not be
without this Plaster for five hundred dollars a year.
She was afflicted for some time with an enlargement of
the spleen, which gave her a groat deal of pain. The
swelling and pain had extended up nearly to the arm
pit, and occasionally she could scarcely breathe. She
was confined fer a considerable time, during which
she was attended by some of our best physicians,
but they gave her no relief. She procured a box
of the Hebrew Piaster, and it relieved her almost im
mediately, and now she keeps a supply of it on hand
constantly. These facts you are at liberty to use as
you think proper—they are substantially true.
Respectfully, yours Ac. JESSE J. WELLS.
