To Professor Holloway : Sir,— Your Pills and Ointment have stood the high est on our sale list of Proprietary Medicines for some years. A customer to whom 1 can refer for any en quiries, desires me to let you know the particulars of her case. She had been troubled for years with a dis ordered liver, and bad digestion. She continued to take them, and although she used only three boxes, she is now in the enjoyment of perfect health. I had but little hopes of ever getting any better. But I have now the pleasure of thanking you for recommending me to take Dr. Rogers’ Syrup of Liverwort, Tar and Canchalagua. I got a dozen bottles of it and took home with me, determined to make a fair trial of it. as I had done with everything else. I have only taken four bottles of it, and I must say it has done me more good than any other medicine I have ever taken. On my first taking it, it increased the expectoration, and I raised a great deal *>f bloody matter from my Lungs. But that has now ceased, and so has my cough nearly. I cough but little now, and expect soon to be entirely free from it. T consider it an invaluable medicine, and shall recommend it to all who are afflicted with a Cough or Diseased Lungs. I let a young lady who had the CONSUMPTION, and had bled a good deal from the Lungs, and doctored several months with our Physician, but grew werse, have one bottle of it, and it cured her. Read the following opinion, founded on the long ex perience of the eminent Physician of the Port and city of St. Johns, May 8,1851. Dr. J. C. Ayer—Five years’ trial of your Cherry Pec toral in my practice, has proven what I foresaw from its composition, must be true, that it,eradicates and cures the colds and coughs to which we, in this section, are peculiarly liable. I think its equal has not yot been discovered, nor do I know how a better remedy can be made for the dis tempers of the Throat and Lungs. J. J BURTON, M. D., F. R. S. See what it has done on a wasted constitution, not only in the following casos, but a thousand more : Sudbury, Jan. 24,1851. Dr. Ayer: In the month of July last, I was attacked by a violent diarrhoea in the mines of California. I re turned to San Francisco in hope of receiving benefit from a change of climate and diet. My diarrhoea ceas ed, but was followed by a severe cough—and much soreness. I finally started for home, but received no benefit from the voyago. My cough continued to grow worse, and when I arrived in New Y'ork, I was at one# marked by my acquaintances as a victim of consump tion. I must confess that I saw no sufficient reason to doubt what my friends all believed. At this time I commenced taking your truly invaluable m 'dicine with little expectation of deriving any benefit from its use. You would not receive these lines did I not regard it my duty to state to the afflicted, through you, that my health, in the space of eight months, is fully restored. I attribute it to the use of your Cher ry Pectoral. Yours, truly, WILLIAM W. SMITH. Washington, Pa.. April 12,1848. Dear Sir: Feeli g that 1 have been spared from a premature grave, through your instrumentality by the providence of God, I will take the liberty to express to you my gratitude. Ilineline, Mayor ol the city ol Cam den, N. From inquiry we were persuaded to use it, and must say we found it specific in its action upon diseases of the Liver and digestive organs, and the pow erful influence it exerts upon nervous prostratiou is really surprising. It calms and strengthens the nerves, bringing them into a state of repose, making sleep re freshing. “If this medicine was more generally used, we are satisfied there would be less sickness, as from the stomach, liver, and nervous system the great majority of real and imaginary diseases emanate. Have them in a healthy condition, and you can bid defiance to epi demics generally. This extraordinary medicine we would advise our friends who are at all indisposed, to give a trial—it will recommend itself. It should, in fact, be in every family. This worm is the most difficult one to destroy of all that inhabit the human body. It grows to an almost indefinite length, and becoming so coiled and fastened in the intestines and stomach as to produce fits, St. Vitus’ Dance, Ac., which is the cause of many going to the grave, not believing that these complaints have their origin from the Tape Worm; consequently they do not use the proper medicines for their disease. To those who are afflicted with this awful foe to health, I recom mend the use of my W orra Syrup, and Liver Pills; the Syrup to be taken in doses of two table spoon fuls three times a day, then take from five to eight of my Liver Pills, to dislodge and pass the worm. By strictly following these directions, the most ob stinate cases of Tape Worm can be speedily cured. ROUND OR STOMACH WORM. usually tound in the small intes tines, and is the worm most common to children, yet it is not entirely confined to them, as adults havo frequently been known to suffer with them. The Symptoms most prominent while affected with this worm, are hardness and fullness of the belly, slimy stools, looseness of the bowels, picking at the nose, a blueish streak under the eyes, Ac. If you, or any of your children havo any of tno above symptoms. HOBENSACK’S WORM SYRUP can safely be depended upon—by using it you have a certain, safe, and speedy cure; and if after using it according to the directions, the patient is not restored to health, and the worms thoroughly era dicated from the system, you can rest assured there is no remedy beyond the grave, as lor fail, there is no such word as fail with those who use my Worm Syrup. ASCARIDES OR SMALL THREAD WORMS. These worms, to which the human system is lia ble, are the most troublesome of all others. They are generally to be found in the rectum, and if al lowed to remain, from the irritation they prcduco, lay the foundation for serious disorders, such as inflammation of the bowels, and other derange ments of the stomach. The best and safest medi cine that can be used is HOBENSACK’S WORM SYRUP. Such is the astonishing power of my medicines over Ascaradies, that I defy any one to produce a case where my Worm Syrup and Liver Pills are recommended to be used they will not cure, All that is necessary is to use the Syrup in accord ance with directions on each bottle, and in case a gentle purgative is required in order to allay tne irritation they produce, the Liver Pills by their sympathizing action and healthy operation upon the bowels, is the most pleasant medicine that can be taken.
