Cn-aerai Jliafrtfarmrnta. WOLFE S SCHIEDAM SCHNAPPS. TO the editor of the ConstittUio)w(ist \ Repub !ir. Augusta. Ga., —Sir: It is due to the citi zen- of Augusta, and other portions of your State, wlio favor me with their orders for *hc SCHIEDAM ..MATIC SCHNAPPS. that the conclusiveev il cnee of its purity and medicinal prop wties, re cently published in this city, should i e la d before tbom- Accordingly I havo forwarded ior gratui tous distribution, some thousands of copies of a treatise, setting forth its peculiarities, in which the first medicalpractioners in America, testify over there own signature? so its purity, and its t-Gieacy .... a specific m a great variety of painful disorders. Xs specimen* oi the opinions of physicians, who have analyzed thearticl , and who proscribe it in ail cases where a diuretic stimulant is required, 1 have given below a few short quotations, from the medical eorresttondenco contained in the pamphlet. At a tin rj, when the uso of adulterated liquors— the source ot a perpetual thirst, which grows by what it feed on—is killing off its tens of thousands annually- the value of a perfectly inocuousspiritous stimulant, both as a curative and a beverage is inappreciable. Much cheaper than brandy, the Sob sc Jam Schnapps is proved by analysis, to be a arer article than the most costly brands of that 1 juor ; while the superior oil of Juniper, which ii.rms one ot its components, gives it a medicinal character unknown in any other class of Alcohalic ! preparations. It is the only liquor with which I ; u! n acquainted, that can be used with the lull as- i surance that it will not create an inordinate ap- j petite for streng drinks ; and as a means ol quali- ! 3) ing impure water, as well as protecting the sys tem against the unwholesome almopheric influences ' in low marshy lands and in new settlements, I ; know of nothing tqaal to it. It is also, a most j agreeable cordial, and those who use liquor as a I beverage, will find that it refreshes and tones the t stem, instead of creating the headache and nau 4a, which too frequently arise from the uso of or dinary spiritious stimulants. Like everything in trinsically good, it has been counterfeited ; but the exposure which 1 propose to viset upon all who vend a spurious article, under the name of Wolfe's Schiedam Aromatic Schnapps, will 1 havo little doubt give the coup de grace to the imposture. I am respectfully, yours, UDOLPHO WOLFE, 22, Beaver st, New York. The following firm’s, havo the article ou sale, and who will furnish pamphlets gratuitous: Haviland, Risley «fc Co. ; D. B. THE OPTOMETER is an instrument invented by Prof. Stampfer, of the Polyteehnical School of Vienn l , for the purposoof measuring with scientific exactness the degree of convexity the eye had lost by age, and it applies accurato numbers of glasses to counteract the de fect. None, then, need hereafter complain that their spectacles pain their eyes, who call on us to be fittod with Spectacles. Come and see for your selves. Now, though we have taken much pains to obtain this instrument, as well to inform ourselves with reference to the application of Glasses to remedy the defects of vision, wo take pleasure in informing our patrons and the public, that we have becomo solo agents of Messrs. Ball A Co., for the sale of their recently invented Cups, which render spectacles entiroly useless, oven to the most Aged persons, where eyes have lost their convoxity from age. We append, ia favor of this invention, the following letter from Prof. Finney, of Oberlin Col lege. The fact in regard to. the improvement in my sight by the use of your Cups are these : I was wearing GLASSES of 18 inches focus—l have had them changed twice; and am now wri ting in a bad light with glasses of 48 inches focus', which is the lowest magnifying power used by Messrs. Pike. I can now read common print with case with the lowest magnifying glasses. I have used them agreeably to your directions about four weeks. I see not why I may not expect, in a short timo, to have my sight quite restored by continu ing the use of the cups. I cannot but "regard this discovery as of great value. Yours, truly, (Signed) _ C. G. Finney. P. S. lamin my sixtieth yoar, and have worn glasses about ten years. Feb’y. 7, 1853.—Prof. Finney writes—l have, for the last six or eight months, used them (the Cup 3) but seldom. The improved state of my sight rendoring mo forgetful and neglectful of their steady use. I have received much benefit and no perceptible injury whatever from their use. With my blinds open I read comfortably, and write easily without glasses. Other letters can be seen in pamphlet, published by Messrs. Ball & Co., in our possession, oct 16 OSBORNE A W IIITLOCK.
