To my old Patrons and Friends.
As there has been some complaint ofirny Gins,
made during the last two years : an explanation
you in relation to this matter is duo Mr. Cheet.
I havo beon absent a great portion of this time,
on a visit to the North, experimenting and getting
up a new Gin, as well as improving, the original
Saw Gin, togothcr with suitable machinery for this
business, to its highest perfection, as will be ac
knowledged by all who have used them, both in
durability und quality es Cotton.
I shall now devote my individual attention in
the shop, and see that every part es each Gin is put
up in the neatest possible manner : in short, I shall
makothe orginal Oglesby Gin, which has been so
celebrated for durability and fine Cotton, having
taken tho premium in this State as well as that of
South Carolina in every instance except one, and
then it was said by foreign dealers that my Cotton
was of a superrior quality. In conclusion, my late
improvements added to my former Gin*, cannot fail
to give entire satisfaation. I will alter any old
Gins, (not too much worn,) to do better work than
it over did before.

Sparta, June 30,1849.
Dear Friend Stewart: —I have been home now just
two months. When I last saw you. I had but little
hopes of ever getting any better. But I have now the
pleasure of thanking you for recommending me to take
Dr. Rogers'Syrup of Liverwort, Tar and Canchalagua.
I got > dozen bottles of it and took home with me,
determined to make a fair trial of it, as I had done
with everything else. I have only taken four bottles
of it, and I must say it has done me more good than
any other medicine I have ever taken. On my first
taking it, it incieased the expectoration, and I raised
a great deal *f bloody matter from my Lungs. But
that has now ceased, and so has my cough nearly. I
cough but little now, and expect soon to be entirely
free from it. I consider it an invaluable medicine, and
shall recommend it to all who are alllicted with a
Cough or Diseased Lungs.
I let a young lady who had the CONSUMPTION,
and had bled a good deal from the Lungs, and doctored
several months with our Physician, but grew werse,
have one bottle of it, a-id it cured her. It acted almost
miraculously in her case.
Your sincere friend, ' F. M. Cory.

of the digestive functions, so common, it is of ines

CHERRY PECTORAL,
For the rapid Cure of

crosp, tsTsnrv, and
CONSUMPTION.
OP all the numerous medicines extant, (and some of
them valuable) for the cure of pulmonary com
plaints. nothing has ever been found which could com
pare in its effects with this Preparation. Others cure
sometimes, but at ail times and in all diseases of the
lungs and throat where medicine can give relief, this
will do it. It is pleasant to take, and perfectly safe in
accordance with the directions. We do not advertise
for the information of those who have tried it but
those who have not. Families that have known its
value will not be without it, and by its timely use,
they are secure from the dangerous consequences of
Couchs and Colds which neglected, ripen into fatal
consumption.
The Diploma of the Massachusetts Institute was
awarded to this preparation by the Board of Judges in
September, 1847 ; also, the Medals of the three great
Institutes of Art in this country; also, the Diploma
of the Ohio Institutes at Cincinnati, has been given
to the Cherry Pectoral, by their Government in
consideration of i’s extraordinary excellence and use
fulness in curing affections of the Lungs and Throat.
Read the following opinion, founded on the long ex
perience of the eminent Physician of the Port and
city of St. Johns, May 8,1851.
Dr. J. C. Ayer—Five years' trial of your Cherry Pec
toral in my practice, has proven what I foresaw from its
composition. mmt be true, that it eradicates and cures
the colds and coughs to which we, in this section, are
peculiarly liable.
I think its equal has not yet been discovered, nor do
I know how a better remedy can be made for the dis
tempers of the Throat and Lungs.
J. J. BURTON, M. D., F. R.S.
See what it has done on a wasted constitution, not
only in the following cases, Lut a thousand more : ’
Scdbcry, Jan. 24,1851.
Dr. Ayer: In the month of July last, f was attacked
by a violent diarrhoea in the mines of California. I re
turned to San Francisco in hope of receiving benefit
from a change of climate and diet. My diarrhoea ceas
ed, but was followed by a severe cough—and much
soreness. I finally started for home, but received no
benefit from the voyago. My cough con! inued to grow
worse, and when I arrived in New York, I was at once
marked by my acquaintances as a victim of consump
tion. I must conless that I saw no sufficient reason
to doubt what my friends ail believed. At this time
I commenced taking your truly invaluable m dicine
with little expectation of deriving any benefit from
its use. You would not receive these lines did I not
regard it ray duty to state to the afflicted, through
you, that my health, in the space of eight months, is
fully restored. I attribute it to the use of your Cher
ry Pectoral. Yours, truly, WILLIAM W. SxMITH.
Washington, Pa., April 12,1848.
Dear Sir: Feeli g that I have been spared from a
premature grave, through your instrumentality by the
providence of God, I will take the liberty to express to
you my gratitude.
A Cough and the alarming symptoms of Consump
tion had reduced me too low to leave me anything like
hope, when my physician brought me a bottle of yonr
“ Pectoral.” It seemed to afford immediate relief, and
now in a few weeks time has restored me to sound
health. If it will do for others what it has done for
me. you are certainly one of the benefactors of man
kind.
Sincerely wishing you every blessing, I am, very re
spectfully, yours, JOHN J. CLARKE,

proof can be adduced unless it be from its effects upon

Celebrated German Bitters,
PREPARE® BY
DR. C. M. JACKSON,
No. 120 Arch street, Philadelphia.
Their power over the above diseases is not excelled,
if equalled, by any other preparation in the United
States, as the cures attest, in many cases after skilful
physicians had failed.
These Bitters are worthy the attention of invalids.
Possessing great virtues in the rectification of diseases
of the Liver and lesser glands, exercising the most
searching powers in weakness and affections of the
digestiveorgans, they are, withal, safe, certain and
pleasant.

The Philadelphia Saturday Gazette,” says of DR.
HOOFLAND'S GERMAN BITTERS.
“It is seldom that we recommrnd what are termed
Patent Medicines, to the confidence and patronage of
oar readers; and therefore when we recommend Dr.
Iloofland's German Bitters, we wish it to be distinctly
understood that we are not speaking of the nostrums
of the day, that aro noised about for a brief period
and then forgotton after they have done their guilty
race of mischief, but of a medicine long established,
universally prized, and which has met the hearty ap
proval of the faculty itself.
“Scott’s Weekly” said, Aug. 25
“Dr. Iloofland's Gorman Bitters, manufactured by
Dr. Jackson, are now recommended by some of the
most prominent members of the Faculty as an article
of much efficacy in cases of female weakness. Per
sons of debilitated constitutions will find these Bitters
advantageous to their health, as we know from expe
rience the salutary effect they have upon weak svs-
MORE EVIDENCE.
J. G. Moore, Esq., of the Daily News, said, October
31st
“Dr. Hoofland’s German Bitters. —We are try
ing this renowned medicine for a stubborn disease of
the bowels, and can with truth testify to its efficacy.—
We have taken the contents of twa bottles, and we
have derived more benefit from the experiment than
we derived previously from years of allopathic treat
ment at the hands of our first physicians.”
The Hon.C.I). Hineline, Mayor ol too city o i Cam
den, N. J.,says:
“ llooflami's German Bitters, —We have seen many
flattering notices of this medicine, and the source from
which they came induced us to make inquiry respecting
its merits. From inquiry we were persuaded to use it,
and must say we found it specific in its action upon
diseases of the Liver and digestive organs, and the pow
erful influence it exerts upon nervous prostration is
really surprising. It calms and strengthens the nerves,
bringing them into a state of repose, making sleep re
freshing.
“If this medicine was more generally used, we are
satisfied there would be less sickness, as from the
stomach, liver, and nervous system the great majority
of real and imaginary diseases emanate. Have them in
a healthy condition, and you can bid defiance to epi
demics generally. This extraordinary medicine we
would advise our friends who are at all indisposed, to
give a trial—it will recommond itself. It should, in
fact, be in every family. No other medicine can pro
duce sucli evidences of merit.’’ (

KOBENSACK’S LIVER PILLS.
NO part of the system is mere liable to disease
than the Liver, it being supplied with numer
ous blood vessels and nerves, and if diseased, the
blood of course llowing through all parts of the
body produces Liver Complaints, Jaundice, Bilious
Affections, Dyspepsia, &c.
LIVER COMPLAINT
Is attended with chills, succeeded by fever, severe
pains in the region of tko Livor, vomiting, bitter
taste, yellow furred tongue, pulse full and bound
ing, the pain in the side increased by pressure,
should the left lobe be affected, the pain is general
ly in the left shoulder, with a short dry cough, the
skin becoming ol a sallow appearance, and the
stools clay colored. This disease can be cured by
the use of Hobensaek’s Liver Pills, as they act di
rectly upon the seat of the disease, and then ope
rating upon the bowels they expel ail the corrupt
and vitiated matter from the system.
DYSPEPSIA.
The symptoms of Dyspepsia, and its various dis
eases are dizziness in the head, hear.burn, oppres
sion after eating meals, sourness arising from the
stomach, Ac., and sometimes general languor of
the whole body, from this it will bo seen that the
disease owes its origin to a disorganized state of
the Liver and Stomach. Hobcnsack’s Liver Pills
is the very medicine to effect a permanent and last
ing cure, as they act by changing the certain mor
bid actions of the system into a healthy action,
and rendering the blood pure and healthy.

The following commendation is from an agent re
siding at Tienton, Tennessee :
Trenton, Gibson Co.. Tennessee, Nov. 7, ’4B.
Messrs Sooyil A. Mead—Gentlemen: The He
brew Plaster is becoming popular in this section. There
is a lady in this county who says she would not be
without this Plaster for five hundred dollars a year.
She was afflicted for some time with an enlargement of
the spleen, which gave her a great deal of pain. The
swelling and pain had extended up nearly to the arm
pit, and occasionally she could scarcely breathe. She
was confined fora considerable time, during which
she was attended by some of our best physicians,
but they gave her no relief. She procured a box
of the Hebrew Plaster, and itrelieved her almost im
mediately, and now she keeps a supply of it on hand
constantly. These facts you are at liberty to use as
you think proper—they are substantially true.
Respectfully, yours Ac. JESSE J. WELLS.
Beware of counterfeits and base imitations. Deal-

buying of any but our regular agents ; otherwise they
