SSOO CHALLENGE.
HOBENSACK’S worm SYRUP.—An article
founded upon Scientific Principles, compound
ed with purely Vegetable substances, boing per
fectly safe when taken, and has never been known
to fail in curing the most obstinate case. Worms
can never exist when this remedy is once used,
from the fact that it not only destroys them but
removes all the slime and mucus which may re
main.
THE TAPE WORM.
This worm is the most difficult one to dostroy of
all that inhabit the human body. It grows to an
almost indefinite length, and becoming so coiled
and fastened in the intestines and stomach as to
produce fits, St. Vitus’ Dance, Ac., which is the
cause of many going to the grave, r„ot believing
that these complaints have thoir origin from the
Tape Worm: consequently they do not use tho
proper medicines for thoir disease. To thoso who
are afflicted with this awful foe to health, I recom
mend the use of my Worm Syrup, and Liver Pills;
the Syrup to be taken in doses of two table spoon
fuls threo times a day, then take from five to eight
of my Liver Pills, to dislodge and passHho worm.
By strictly following these directions, the most ob
stina.e cases of Tape W orm can be speedily cured.
ROUND OR STOMACH WORM.
This worm is usually found in the small intes
tines, and is the worm most common to children,
yet it is not entirely confined to them, as adults
have frequently been known to suffer with them.
Tfte Symptoms most prominent while affected with
this worm, are hardness and fullness of the belly,
slimy stools, looseness of the bowels, picking at the
nose, a blueish streak under tbe eyos, Ac. If you,
or any of your children have any of the above
symptoms. HOBENSACK’S WORM SYRUP can
safely be depeuded upon —by using it veu have a
certain, safe, and speedy cure; and if after using
it according to the directions, tho patient i- not
restored to health, and the worms thoroughly era
dicated from the system, you can rest assured there
is no remedy beyond the grave, as ior fail, there is
no such word as fail with those who use my Worm
Syrup.
AsCARIDES OR SMALL THREAD WORMS.,
These worms, to which the human system is lia
ble, are tho most troublesome of all others. They
are generally *o be found in the rectum, and if al
lowed to remain, from tho irritation they produce,
lay the foundation for serious disorders, such as
inflammation of the bowels, and other derange
ments of the stomach. The best and safest medi
cine that can be used is IJOBENSACK’S WORM
SYRUP. Such is the astonishing power of my
medicines over Ascaradies, that I defy any one to
produce a case where my Worm Syrup and Liver
Pills are recommended to be used they will not cure,
All that is necessary is to use the Syrup in accord
ance with directions on each bottle, and in case a
gentle purgative is required in order to allay tne
irritation they produce, the Liver Pills by their
sympathizing action and healthy operation upon
the bowels, is the most pleasant medicine that can
bo taken.

HOLLOWAY’S PILLS.
rjiHESE PILLS being composed entirely of medicinal
JL herbs, are of a most harmless nature, while the ex
traordinary virtues they possess have rendered them
universally popular in nearly every part of the world.
The immense success they have met with throughout
the States is most extraordinary, owing, it is presumed,
to their wonderful efficacy in the cure of Bilious com
plaints and disorders of the Liver and Stomach. Per
sons who persevere in using them in accordance with
the directions, seldom fail in being restored to health.
Weakness and Debility—Restoration to llkalth
off a Gentleman, aged 45, when at Death's door.
Copy of a Letter from the Rev. Charles Smith , dated
Norton, St. Philips,-near Bath, Somersetshire , 1 1th
August, 1553:
To Professor Holloway.
yir ( a Mr. Josei h Puxton, formerly a resident of
this place, had been, in a declining state of health for
upwards of three years, gradually wasting away to a
shadow, by nightly perspirations and want of appetite,
which caused great uneasiness to his friends, as he had
consulted various medical men in Bath, without effect,
lie at last used your Pills, and under Providence, was
restored to health by their means. He lately emigra
ted to New York, and has just written to say, that ho
was never better in health, and desirod mo to acquaint
you with the circumstance. I ought also to mention,
that my wife had derived great benefit from the uso of
your Pills. I remain. Sir, yours, respectfully,
CHARLES SMITH, Dissenting Minister.
A Permanent Core of a Diseased Liver, or many
years’ duration.
Copy of a Letter from Mr. Gamis . Chemist , Yeovil, to
Professor Holloo ay :
Doar Sir —In this district your Pills command a more
extensive sale than any other proprietary medicine be
fore the public. As a proof of their efficacy in Liver
and Bilious Complaints, I may meution the following
case. A lady of this town, with whom lam personally
acquainted, for years was a severe sufferer from disease
of the Liver and Digestive Organs; her modical atten
dant assured her that he could do nothing more to re
lieve her sufferings, and it was not likely she could sur
vive many mouths. This announcement naturally
caused great alarm among her friends and relations,
and they induced her to make a trial of your Pills,
which so improved her general health that she w.is in
duced to continue them until she received a perfect cure.
This is twelve months ago. and she has not experienced
any symptoms of relapse, and often declares that your
Pills have been the means of saving her life.
I remain, Dear Sir, yours, truly.

Celebrated German Bitters,
PRE PARKY BY
DR. C. M. JACKSON,
No. 120 Arch street, Philadelphia.
Their power over the above diseases is not excelled,
if oqualled, by any other preparation in the United
States, as the cure's attest, in many cases after skilful
physicians had failed.
These Bitters are worthy the attention of invalids.
Possessing great virtues in the rectification of diseases
of the Liver and lesser glands, exercising the most
searching powers in weakness and affections of the
digestiveorgans, they are, withal, safe, certain and
pleasant.
READ AND BE CONVINCED.
The “ Philadelphia Saturday Gazette,” say* of DR.
IIOOFLAND’S GERMAN BITTERS.
“ It is seldom that we recommend what are termed
Patent Medicines, to the confidence and patronage of
our readers; and therefore when we recommend Dr.
Hoofiand’s German Bitters, we wish it !o be distinctly
understood that we are not speaking of the nostrums
of the day, that are noised about for a brief period
and then forgotton after they have done their guilty
race of mischief, but of a medicine long established,
universally prized, and which has met the hearty ap
proval of the faculty Itself.
“Scott's Wbekly” said, Aug. 25
“Dr. Iloofland's German Bitters, manufactured by
Dr. Jackson, are now recommended by some of the
most prominent members*of the Faculty as an article
of much efficacy in cases of female weakness. Per
sons of debilitated constitutions will find these Bitters
advantageous to their health, as we know from expe
rience the salutary effect they have upon weak sys
tems.”
MORE EVIDENCE.
J. G. Moore, Esq., of the Daily News, said, October
31st
“ 1)r. Hoofland’s Gbrman Bittsrs.—We are try
ing this renowned medicine for a stubborn disease of
the bowels, and can with truth testify to its efficacy.—
We have taken the contents of tw® bottles, and we
have derived more benefit from the experiment than
we derived previously from years of allopathic treat
ment at the hands of our first physicians.”
The IIon.C.D. Hinelinc, Mayor the city of Cam
den. N. J.,says:
"Ho of land's German Bitters, —We have seen many
flattering notices of this medicine, and the source from
which they came induced us to make inquiry respecting
its merits. From inquiry we were persuaded to use it,
and must say we found it specific in its action upon
diseases of the Liver and digestive organs, and the pow
erful influence it exerts upon nervou* prostration is
really surprising. It calms and strengthens the aerv6s,
bringing them into a state of repose, making sleep re
freshing.
“If this medicine was more generally used, we are
satisfied there would be less sickness, as from the
stomach, liver, and nervous system the great majority
of real and imaginary diseases emanate. Ilavethemin
a healthy condition, and you can bid defiance, to epi
demics generally. This extraordinary medicine we
would advise our friends who are at all indisposed, to
give atrial —it will recommend itself. It should, in
fact.be in every family. No other medicine can pro
duce such evidences of merit.”

Dr. J. C. Ayer—Five years’ trial of your Cherry Pec
toral in my practice, has proven what I foresaw from its
composition, must lie true, that it eradicates and cures
the colds and coughs to which we, in this section, are
peculiarly liable.
I think its equal has not yet been discovered, nor do
I know how a better remedy can be made for the dis
tempers of the Throat and Lungs.

See what it has done on a wasted constitution, not
only in the following cases, but a thousand more :
Scdbcry. Jan. 24,1851.
Dr. Ayer: In the month of July ia-t, I was attacked
by a violent diarrhoea in the mines of California. I re
turned to ban Francisco in hope of receiving benefit
from a change of climate and diet. My diarrhoea ceas
ed, but was followed by a severe cough—and much
soreness. I finally started for home, but received no
benefit from the voyago. My cough continued to grow
worse, and when I arrived in New York, I was at once
marked by my acquaintances as a victim of consump
tion. I must confess that I saw no sufficient reason
to doubt what my friends all believed. At this time
I commenced taking your truly invaluable m dieine
with little expectation of deriving any benefit from
its use. You would not receive these lines did I not
regard it my duty to state to the afflicted, through
you, that my health, in the space of eight months, is
fully restored. I attribute it to the use of your Cher
ry Pectoral. Your*, truly, WILLIAM W! SMITH.
Washington, Pa., April 12,1848.
Dear Sir: Feeli g that I have been spared from a
premature grave, through your instrumentality by the
providence of God, I will take the liberty to express to
you my gratitude.
A Cough and the alarming symptoms of Consump
tion had reduced me too low to leave me anything like
hope, when my physician brought me a bottle of your
“ Pectoral.” It seemed to afford immediate relief, and
now in a few weeks time has restored me to sound
health. If it will do for others what it has done for
