To tny old Patrons and Friends.
As thore has been some complaint of*my Gins,

I have been absont a groat portion of this time,
on a visit to the North, experimenting and getting
up a new Gin, as well as improving, the original
Saw Gin, together with suitable machinory for this
business, to its highest perfection, as will be ac
knowledged by all who have used them, both in
durability and quality of Cotton.
I shall now devote my individual attention in
tho shop, and see that every part of each Gin is put
up in the neatest possible manner : in short, I shall
make tho orginat Oglesby Gin, which has been so
oelebratod for durability and fine Cotton, having
taken the premium in this State as well as that of
South Carolina in ovory instance except one, and
then it was said by foreign dealers that my Cotton
was of a superrior quality. In conclusion, my late
improvements added to my former Gins, cannot fail
to givo entire satisfaction. I will alter any old

SSOO CHALLENGE.
HOUENSACK’S WO KM SYRUP.— An article
founded upon Scientific Principles, compound
ed with purely Vegetable substances, being per
fectly safe when taken, and has never been known
to fail in airing the most obstinate case. Worms
can never exist when this Remedy is once used,
from the fact that it not onl^destroys them but
removes all the slime and mucus which may re
main.
THE TAPE WORM.
This worm is the most difficult one to destroy of
all that inhabit the human body. It grows to an
almost indefinite length, and becoming so coiled
and fastened in the intestines and stomach as to
produce fits, St. Vitus’ Dance, <fcc., which is tho
cause of many going to the grave, not believing
that these complaints have their origin from the
Tape Worm; consequently they do not use the
proper medicines for their disease. To those who
are afflicted with this awful foe to health, I recom
mend the use of my W orm Syrup, and Liver Pills;
the Syrup to be taken in doses of two table spoon
fuls three times a day, then take from five to eight
of my Liver Pills, to dislodge and pass tho worm.
By strictly following these directions, tho most ob
stinate cases of Tape Worm can be speodily cured.
ROUND OR STOMACH WORM.
This worm is usually found in the small intes
tines, and is the worm most common to children,
yet it is not entirely confined to them, as adults
have frequently been known to suffer with them.
The Symptoms most prominent while affected with
this worm, are hardness and fullness of the belly,
slimy stools, looseness of the bowels, picking at the
nose, a blueish streak under the eyes, <fec. If you,
or any of your children have any of the above
symptoms, HOBENSACK’S WORM SYRUP can
safely be depended upon—by using it you have a
certain, safe, and speedy cure; and if after using
it according to the directions, the patient is not
restored to health, and the worms thoroughly era
dicated from the system, you can rest assured there
is no remedy beyond the grave, as for fail, there is
no such word as fail with those who use my Worm
Syrup.
AoCARIDES OR SMALL THREAD WORMS.
These worms, to which the human system is lia
ble, are the most troublesome of all others. They
are generally to bo found in tho rectum, and if al
lowed to romain, from the irritation they produce,
lay the foundation for serious disorders, such as
inflammation of the bowels, and other derange
ments of the stomach. Tho best and safest medi
cine that can be usedi3 HOBENSACK’S WORM
SYRUP. Such is tho astonishing power of my
medicines over Ascaradics, that I defy any one to
produce a case where my Worm Syrup and Liver
Pills are recommended to be used they will not euro,
All that is necessary is to use the Syrup in accord
ance with directions on each bottle; and in case a
gentlo purgative is required in order to allay tho
irritation they produce, the Liver Pills by their
sympathizing action and healthy operation upon
the bowels, is the most pleasant medicine that can
be taken.

HOLLOWAY’S PILLS.
THESE PILLS being composed entirely of medicinal
herbs, are of a most harmless nature, while the ex
traordinary virtues they possess have rendered them
universally popular in nearly every part of the world.
The immense success they have met with throughout
the States is most extraordinary, owing, it is presumed,
to their wonderful efficacy in the cure of Bilious com
plaints and disorders of the Liver and Stomach. Per
sons who persevere in using them in accordance with
the directions, seldom fail in being restored to health.
Weakness and Debility—Restoration to Health
of a Gentleman, aued 45. when at Death’s door.
Copy of a Letter from the Rev. Charles Smith, dated
Norton, St. Philips, near Bath, Somersetshire, 17 th
August, 1853:
To Professor Holloway.
Sir, —A Mr. Joseph Puxton, formerly a resident of
this place, had been in a declining state of health for
upwards of three years, gradually wasting away to a
shadow, by nightly perspirations and want of appetite,
which cause! great uneasiness to his friends, as he had
consulted various medical men in Bath, without effect.
He at last used your Pills, and under Providence, was
restored to health by their means. He lately emigra
ted to New York, and has just written to say, that he
was never better in health, and desired me to acquaint
you with the circumstance. I ought also to mention,
that my wife had derived great benefit from the use of
your Pills. I remain, Sir, yours, respectfully,
CHARLES SMITH, Dissenting Minister.
A Permanent Cure of a Diseased Liver, of many
years’duration.
Copy of a Letter from Mr. Gamis , Chemist, Yeov-il. to
Professor Hollo'u ay :
Dear Sir —In this district your Pills command a more
extensive sale than any other proprietary medicine be
fore the public. As a proof of their effisacy in Liver
and Bilious Complaints, I may mention the following
case. A lady of this town, with whom lam personally
acquainted, for years was a severe sufferer from disease
of the Liver and Digestive Organs; her medical atten
dant assured her that he could do nothing more to re
lieve her sufferings, and it was not likely she could sur
vive many months. This announcement naturally
caused great alarm among her friends and relations,
and they induced her to make a trial of your Pills,
which so improved her general health that she was in
duced to continue them until she received a perfect cure.
This is twelve months ago, and she has not experienced
any symptoms of relapse, and often declares that your
Piils have been the means of saving her lifo.
I remain. Dear Sir. yours, truly,
July 23,1853. (Signed) J. GAMIS.

DR. HOOFLAND’S
Celebrated German Bitters,
PREPARES* BY
DR. C. M. JACKSON,
No. 120 Arch stieet, Philadelphia.
Their power over the abova diseases is not excelled,
if equalled, by any other preparation in the United
States, as the cures attest, in many cases after skilful
physicians had failed.
These Bitters are worthy the attention of invalids.
Possessing great virtues in the rectification of diseases
of the Liver and lesser glands, exercising the most
searching powers in weakness and affections of the
digestivoorgans, they are, withal, safe, certain and
pleasant.
READ AND BE CONVINCED.
The “ Philadelphia Saturday Gazette,” says of DR.
HOOFLAND’S GERMAN BITTERS.
“ It is seldom that we recommend what are termed
Patent Medicines, to the confidence aud patronage of
our readers; and therefore when we recommend Dr.
Hoofland’s German Bitters, we wish it to be distinctly
understood that we are not speaking of the nostrums
of the day, that are noised about for a brief period
and then forgotton after they hare done their guilty
race of mischief, hut of a medicine long established,
universally prized, and which has met the hearty ap
proval of the faculty itself.
“Scott's W’kekly” said, Aug. 25
“Dr. Hoofland’s German Bitters, manufactured by
Dr. Jackson, are now recommended by some of the
most prominent members of the Faculty as an article
of much efficacy in cases of female weakness. Per
sons of debilitated constitutions will find these Bitters
advantageous to their health, as we know from expe
rience the salutary effect they have upon weak sys
tems.”
MORE EVIDENCE.
J. G. Moore, Esq., of the Daily News, said, October
31st
“ Dr. lloofland’s German Bitters.—We are try
ing this renowned medicine for a stubborn disease of
the bowels, and can with truth testify to itsefficacy.—
We have taken the contents of two bottles, and we
have derived more benefit from the experiment than
we derived previously from years of allopathic treat
ment at the hands of our first physicians.”
The Hon. C. D. Hineline, Mayor ert the city of Cam
den, N. J.,says:
'•'Hoofland's German Bitters, —We have seen many
flattering notices of this medicine, and the source from
which they came induced ns to make inquiry respecting
• its merits. From inquiry we were persuaded to use it,
and must say we found it specific in its action upon
diseases of the Liver and digestive organs, and the pow
erful influence it exerts upon nervous prostration is
really surprising. It calms and strengthens the nerves,
bringing them into a state of repose, making sleep re
freshing.
“If this medicine was more generally used, we are
satisfied there would be less sickness, as from the
stomach, liver, and nervous system the great majority
of real andimaginary diseases emanate. Have them in
a healthy condition, and you can bid defiance to epi
demics generally. This extraordinary medicine we
would advise our friends who are at all indisposed, to
give a trial—it will recommend itself. It should, in
fact, be in every family. No other medicine can pro
duce such evidences of merit.”

CHERRY PECTORAL,
For the rapid Cure of

CROUP, ASTHMA, AND
CONSUMPTION.
OF all the numerous medicines extant, (and some of
them valuable) for the cure of pulmonary com
plaints, nothing has ever been found which could com
pare in its effects with this Preparation. Others cure
sometimes, bftt at all times and in all diseases of the
lungs and throat where medicine can give relief, this
will do it. It is pleasant to take, aud perfectly safe in
accordance with the directions. We do not advertise
for the information of those who have tried it but
those who have not. Families that have known its
value will not be without it, and by its timely use,
they are secure from the dangerous consequences of
Coughs and Colds which neglected, ripen into fatal
consumption.
The Diploma of the Massachusetts Institute was
awarded to this preparation by the Board of Judges in
September, 1847 ; also, the Medals of the three great
Institutes of Art. in this country ; also, the Diploma
of the Ohio Institutes at Cincinnati, lias been given
to the Cherry Pectoral, by their Government in
consideration of its extraordinary excellence and use
fulness in curing affections of the Lungs and Throat.
Read the following opinion, founded on the long ex
perience of the eminent Physician of the Port and
city of St. Johns, May 8, 1851.
Dr. J. C. Ayer—Five years’ trial of your Cherry Pec
toral in my practice, has proven what I foresaw from its
composition, must be true, that it eradicates and cures
the colds and coughs to which we, in this section, are
peculiarly liable.
I think its equal has not yet been discovered, nor do
I know how a better remedy can bemiade for the dis
tempers of the Throat and Lungs.
J. J. BURTON, M. D., F. R. S.
See what it has done on a wasted constitution, not
only in the following cases, but a thousand more :
Sudbury, Jan. 24, 1851.
Dr. Ayer: In the month of July last, I was attacked
by a violent diarrhoea in the mines of California. I re
turned to San Francisco in hope of receiving benefit
from a change of climate and diet. My diarrhoea ceas
ed, but was followed by a severe cough—and much
soreness. I finally started for home, but received no
benefit from the voyago. My cough continued to grow
worse, and when I arrived in New York, I was at once
marked by my acquaintances as a victim of consump
tion. I must contess that I saw no sufficient reason
to doubt what my friends all believed. At this time
I commenced taking your truly invaluable m ‘dicine
with little expectation of deriving any benefit from
its use. You would not receive these lines did I not
regard it my duty to state to the afflicted, through
you, that my health, in the space of eight months, is
fully restored. I attribute it to the use of your Cher
ry Pectoral. Yours, truly, WILLIAM W. SMITH.
Washington, Pa., April 12,1848.
Dear Sir: Feeli g that I have been spared from a
premature grave, through your instrumentality by the
providence of God, I will take the liberty to express to
you my gratitude.
A Cough and the alarming symptoms of Consump
tion had reduced me too low to leave me anything like
hope, when my physician brought me a bottle of your
“ Pectoral.” It seemed to afford immediate relief, and
now in a few weeks time has restored me to sound
health. If it will do for others what it has done for
me, you are certainly one of the benefactors of man
kind.
Sincerely wishing you every blessing, I am, very re
spectfully, yours, JOHN J. CLARKE,

With such assurance from such men. no stronger
proof can be adduced unless it be from its effects upon
trial.
