CHARLESTON, July 2S.— Cotton. —A good business
may be said to have engaged the attention of dealers
during the previous week, when we consider the very
limited amount of Cotton on sale, and in this period
prices advanced j-c. on the better and ic. on the lower
grades, which is solely to be attributed to this cause.
When we closed our inquiries, prices for the Middling
to Qood Middling qualities stood at 9J 2)10 cents. The
week under review op. ned with a geod inquiry, but
parties were unable to come to terms, and the day pass
ed olf without, we believe, a single transaction. Buy
ers, however, finding that sellers were well fortified in
their po ition. owing to the limited amount of Cotton
on sale, came forward, on Saturday, and purchased to
the extent of near 1000 bales, at prices fully up to the
quotations given in our report of the 21st inst. Mon
day was a quiet day, as the sales did not reach quite
300 bales ; but the market sustained the position it oe
pied on t e preceding day. The demand was renewed
on Tuesday, wi h iucreased activity, and during the
dav upwards of 1400 b ties changed hands at a decidedly
higher range of figures in the jprice of the article.—
The article wasalso in some request on Wednesday and
during the forenoon of yesterday, but purchasers were I
unable to operate to the extent of their ability, in con- I
sequence of the extra agaut pretensions of holders. Re- |
cent transactions show an unsettled market, with about
*c. advance on the middling grades, but the qualities
have so run into each other, that we find it impossible
to give quotations with that degree of accuracy we
should wi>h, and those we offer must, for the present,
be considered nomiual. The receipts of the week reach
4,122 bales, aud the sales in the same time may be es
timated at 3431 bales, as follows, viz:—4 bales at 7: 3at
Ji; 31 at 75.212 at 73; 36 at 7f; 57 at 8; 24 at 84; 162 at

9j; 133 at 10; 82 at luj; and 100 bales at lOfc. We have
no transactious to report in Long Cotton. Heavy rains
have prevailed this week in this locality.
Corn. —The receipts this week comprise 1100 bushels
Maryland, which were sold at a price rather in advance
of our quotations ; and abort 7500 bushels from New
\ork, wnich were sold by measurement and weight, at
prices ranging from 95c. to fl per busehel, sacks in
cluded.
Flour. —There has been a revival in the demand
this week, for the home trade, and sales have been
made principa lyat fßfor bbls. and $4 forbags.
x Salt. —The demad, which is very limited, is being
supplied principally at $1 20 fper sack;
Sugars. —There was a sale this week of about, 200
bhds Muscovados on terms not made public, and up
wards of 80hhds Louisianas, at prices ranging from 4§
@sfc. as in quality. The stock of all descriptions in
first hands is very light.
Coffee We note the sale of upwards of 590 bags of
low quality of Rio, at prices ranging from 9£@9£c.
Freights. —We quote to Liverpool Cotton, in square
and round bags, J@|d.; and to Havre, The

DENNIS’ ANTI-SPASMODIC TINCTUrE
FOR all sudden and dangerous attacks of Dis
ease, such as Fits or Convulsions; Apoplexy
Lock-Jaw; Cramp Colic; Cholera; Pneumonia;
Hydrophobia ; Bite of Snakes, and other danger
ous cases of Poisons, and all other diseases in
which immediate action is necessary.
This Tincture produces its effect by equalizing
the circulation of the Blood, and by relieving in
flammation. Its effect in rolieving inflammation,
either internal or external, makes it useful in a
great variety of diseases.
For Fever and Ague, or Chills, it is almost an
infallible remedy.
Diluted with syrup or honey, it is useful for
Colds and all affections of tho Lungs, arising from
colds, such as Cough, Croup, Asthma, Difficulty in
Breathing, Ac.
As an external remedy, in fresh Cuts, Wounds,
Bruises, Burns, Scalds, Bite of Snakes, Sting of
Bees, or Bite of poisonous Insects, it prevents in
flammation, and greatly relieves the soreness.
i sed as a wash in eruptive diseases, such as
Scald Head, Ringworm, or diseases which cause an
itching sensation upon the skin, it soon produces a
healthy action. When thus used, the Georgia Sar
saparilla should bo taken to purify the blood.
For Horses, and other animals, this article will
be found invaluable for Bruises, Cuts, Galls, Fistu
la, Ac. For Colic, and various other dangerous
attacks, it rarely fails to cure even the worst cases.
This is the most active medicine in use, yet it
may be given without danger of injury. Jt seldom
fails, in dangerous cases, to cause an immediate re
action in the system. After i; has caused a reac
tion, it may be followed bv such other modicincs
as the situation of the patient may indicate.

r | Hits delicious article combines so many meri-
JL torious qualities, that it has now become a
standard favorite with the citizens of New York,
Philadelphia and Baltimore. Dentists prescribe it
in their practice most successfully, and from every
source the most flattering laudations are awarded
it.
Inflamed and bleeding gums are immediately
benefitted by its use : its action upon them is mild,
soothing and effective. It cleanses the teeth so
thoroughly that they are made to rival pearl in
whit ness, and diffuses through the mouth such a
delightful freshness, that the breath is rendered ex
quisitely sweet. It disinfects all those impurities
which tend to produce decay, and, as a consequence,
when these are removed, tho teeth must always re

ROGER S LIVERWORT AND TAR.
FOB, the complete cure of Coughs, Colds, Influenza,
Asthma, Bronchitis, Spitting of Blood, and all oth
er Lung Complaints tending to Consumption.
Ihis preparation is getting into use all over our coun
try. The numerous letters we receive from our vari
ous agents, informing us of cures effected in their im
mediate neighborhoods, warrant us in saying it is one
of the best, if not the very best, Cough Medicine now
before the public. It almost invariably relieves, and
nolTunfrequently cures the very worse cases When all
other Cough preparations have failed, this has relieved
the patient, as Druggists, dealers in Medicines, and
Physicians can testify. Ask the Agent in your nearest
town, what has been his experience of the effects of
this medicine. If he has been selling it for any length
of time he will tell you s
IT IS THE BEST MEDICINE EXTANT.
Below we give a few extracts from letters we have
received lately, regarding the virtues of this medicine.
Dr. S. S. Oslin. of Knoxville, Ga., says: “ I have been
using your Liverwort and Tar very extensively in my
practice for three years past, and it is with pleasure I
state my belief in its superiority over all other articles
with which I am acquainted, for which it is recom
mended.”
Messrs Fitzgerald & Benners, writing from Waynes
ville, N. C., says: *• The Liverwort and Tar is becoming
daily more popular in this Country, and we think just
ly so. All who have tried it speak in commendable
terms of it, and say it is very beneficial in alleviating
the complaints for which it is recommended.”
Our Agent in Pickens District, S. C., Mr. S. R. McFall,
assures us ‘‘that he uses it with great benefit in his own
family, and recommends it to his neighbors.” He gives
an instance of a Nogro woman, in his vicinity, who had
been suffering with disease ol the Lungs for years, at
tended with severe Cough, who was relieved by the
Liverwort and Tar.
Such are the good reports we hear of this Medicine
from all parts of the south. For a report of the sur
prising cures it has performed in the Western and
Northern and Eastern states, we would invite the suf
ering patient to read the pamphlet which acoompanies
each bottle. To all, we say, have hope, have hope!
TRY THE MEDICINE !! — Be Warned in Season ! !
And neglect not that Cough which is daily weakening
your constitution, irritating your Throat and Lungs,
and inviting on that dread disease. Consumption, when
so soothing and h aling a Remedy can be obtained as
Dr. Rogers’ Syrup o* Liverwort and Tar.
Beware of Counterfeits and Base Imitations .'—The
genuine article is signed Andrew Rogers, on the en
graved wrapper around each bottle.

STAMPEDE MIXTURE
For the Fever and Ague and Chagres Fever
THE PROP RIETO Kof this Medicine will state,
without hesitation or fear of contradiction,
that the Stampede Mixture has cared more per
sons, where it has been introduced, than any other
medicine in use for the above d'seases. This med
icine has neither Arsenic or quinine in its compo
sition, all of the ingredients are of a perfectly
healthy character and highly stimulating and in
vigorating in their tendency. Persons while using
this medicine will not be affected by evposore to
water or a damp atmosphere no more than when in
their usual health. Planters in sections of the
country where the Ague prevails, will do well to
adopt this medicine, as the patient is not obliged
to lay by while under treatment, and thoy may be
assurod of a speedy cure. The Proprietor could
introduce thousands of certificates from those of
the highest respectability, but prefers saying to the
