} Augusta, April 15,1854. {
JTAIIE subscriber would respectfully call tbeat
-1 X. tontion of tho Merchants throughout Georgia,
Tennessee, Alabama, and South Carolina, to the
, Savannah River, as a safe, expeditious and cheap
route for the transportation of their Merchandise
By comparing the freight tariffs of this line with
those of the South Carolina, and Centra', and
> Waynesboro’Railroads, it will show a result in fa
vor of this route of from 30 to 50 per cent., gener
ally, and in some instances a greater per centage.
fcy this route a merchant receives each shipment
of his Goods together; they are not retailed to
him as they generally are by Railroads connecting
with theseaboaid, with a list of charges attached
to eaeh package.
In audition to the present force of this Tine, an
il other new Boat, of light draught of water, will be
b added durin" the coming summer. These bos3
- will leave Savannah after the discharge of the
1 Now \ r ork and Philadelphia Steamships, twice or
. three times a week, delivering those Goods at this
1 point in FIVE DAYS.
Fro a the present low tariff of this line a deduc
I tion of 12J per cent, will be allowed on all bills
1 from this date. Give the river more business, and
r a cheaper freight yet awaits you.
All goods from the sea board should be directed
i to M. A. Cohen, Savannah,
s and produce from the interior to
Jno. A. Moore, Augusta.
To the manufacturing portion of Georgia, as
s well as to the Cotton Merchants, and dealers gene
rally, on the line of Railroads through Georgia and
i Tennessee, who ship to Savannnh and Northern
markets, this route offers very favorable induce
ments.
To facilitate shipments, as well as to prevent er
rors, bills of lading should be forwarded to M. A.
Cohen, at Savannah, for all goods from seaboard,
i JNO. A. MOORE.
In case of low river, all goods consigned to this
I line, will be forwarded by Central, and connecting

CARTER’S SPANISH MIXTURE.
The great Sprii g Medicine and Purifier of the Blood
is now used by hundreds of grateful patients, who tes

greatest of all medicines. Carter's Spanish Mixture.
Neuralgia, Rheumatism, Scrofula} Eruptions on the
Skin, Liver Disease, Fevers, Ulcers, Old Sores, Aifections
of the Kidneys, Diseases of the Throat, Female Com
plaints, Pains and Aching of the Rones and Joints, are
speedily put to flight by using this great and inestima
ble remedy.
For all diseases of the Blood, nothing has yet been
found to compare with it. It cleanses the system of
all impurities, acts gently and efficiently on the Liver
and Kidneys, strengthens the Digestion, gives tone to
the Stomach, makes the Skin clear and healthy, and
restores the Constitution, enfeebled by disease or bro
ben down by the excesses of youth, to its pristine vigor
and strength.
For the Ladies, it is incomparably better than all the
cosmostics ever used. A few doses of Carter’s Spanish
Mixture will remove all sallowness of complexion,
bring the roses mantling to the cheek, give elasticity to
the step, and improve the general health in a remarka

A large number es certificates of remarkable cures
performed on persons residing in the city of Richmond,

Their power over the above diseases is not excelled
if equalled, by any other preparation in the Uiiited
States, as tlie cures attest, in many cases after skilful
physicians had failed.
These Bitters are worthy the attention of invalids.

of the Liver and lesser glands, exercising the most

HEAD AND BE CONVINCED.
More testimony from the South in favor of Ilooflaud’s

cure of Liver Complaint, Dyspepsia, Jaundice, Nervous
Debility, Disease of the Kidneys, &c.
H. W. Chaney, Millersburg, Ky., October 10, 1852,
said : “ Having sold your Bitters some time, I find it
has given satisfaction iu every instance that has come
under my notice.”
Nelson & Edwards, Salvisa. Ky., June 2d, 1852, said :
“ We rejoice to inform you that this justly celebrated
medicine has fully maintained the exalted reputation
which has been given it, and having tested its virtues
we unhesitatingly say it emineut'y deserves it.”
J. T. A J. W. Berry, Uniontowu, Ky., July 21, 1852,

the use of Dr. HooUand’s German Bitters, aud believe
it to be a valuable medicine.”
J. Grant, Irvine, Ky., June 20,1852, said : “ We have

Dr. P. Fatio Sc Bro., Knoxville. Tenn., April 9,1851,.
said : *• Your Bitters are now selling very fast, and eve

ASK for HAMPTON'S VEGETABLE TINCTURE.
The many cures made by this pleasant and safe
remedy may induce counterfeiting.
A medicine must have merit, and great merit too, to
stand the test of public opinion. No art of puffing can
galvanize a worthless article, so as to keep it up as a
good medicine, if it be not really so.
A good medicine will live, become popular, and ex
tend its sales year after year, in spite of opposition.
The people readily find out its virtues, and the fame of
them passes from mouth to mouth with more rapidity
than newspapers can spread it. A living witness testi
fying to the cure a medicine has made for him, is of
tar more service than any newspaper advertising.

AFFLICTED RRAD~!
Philadelphia medical house—Established 20
years ago by Dr. Kinkelin, corner of Third aud
Union Streets, between Spruce and Pine, Philadelphia.
Invalids are apprised that Dr. Kinkeliu confines his
practice to a particular branch of medicine, which en
gages his undivided attention. He cautions the unfor
tunate against the abuse of mercury ; thousands are
annuallj' mercurialized out of life. Recent affections
are promptly extinguished.
Twenty years of experience in the treatment of a
class of diseases hitherto neglected and imperfectly un
derstood, has enabl d Dr. Kinkelin. (author of a work
on Self Preservation.) to prove that nine tenths of the
causes of nervous debility, local and constitutional
weakness, mental and physical suffering, are traceable
to certain habits, forming the most secret yet deadly
and fatal springs of domestic misery aud premature
mortality.
Take Particular Notice. —There is an evil habit some
times indulged in by boy a, in solitude, often growing
up with them to manhood, and which, if not reformed
iu due time, not only begets serious oostacles to matri
monial happiness, but gives rise to a series of protract
ted, insidious, and devastating affections. Few of those
who give way to this pernicious practice are aware of
the consequences, until they find the nervous system
shattered, feel strauge aud unaccountable feelings, and
vague fears in the mind.
The unfortunate thus affected becomes feeble, is una
ble to labor with accustomed vigor, or to apply his
mind to study; his step is tardy and weak, he is dull,
irresolute, and engages in his sport with less energy
than usual.
If he emancipate himself before the practice has
done its worst, and enter matrimony, his marriage is
unfruitful, and his seu.se tells him that this is caused by
his early follies. These are considerations which should
awaken the attention of those similarly situated,
Marriage requires the fulfilment of several condi
tions, in order that it may be really the cause of mutu
al happiness. Could the veil which covers the origin
of domestic wretchedness be raised, aud its true source
in every instance disclosed—iu how many could it be
traced to physical disqualifications and their attendant
disappointments! Apply then while it is yet time, in
order to have your unstrung and relaxed organization
rebraced, revivified and strengthened.
Remember, he who places himself under Dr. Kinke
• lin’s treatment may religiously confide in his honor as
a gentleman, and rely upon the assurance, that the se
crets of Dr. K.’s patients wiU»never be disclosed.
Young man—let no false modesty deter you from
mzkingyour case known to one who, from education
and respectability, can certainly befriend you.
Two many think they will conceal the secret in their
own hearts, and cure themselves. Alas! how often is
this a fatal delusion, and how many a promising young
man, who might have been an ornament to society,
has faded from the earth.
Strictures of the urethra are rapidly removed by the
application of a new therapeutical ageht. used only by
Dr. K Weakness aud constitutional debility promptly
cured, and full vigor restored.
Country Invalids can have (by stating their case ex
plicitly, together with all their symptoms, per letter,
enclosing a remittance) Dr. K.’s medicine, appropriated
accordingly.

ROGER’S LIVERWORT AND TAR.
FOR the complete cure of Coughs, Colds, Influenza,
Asthma, Bronchitis, Spitting of Blood, and all oth
er Lung Complaints tending to Consumption.
This preparation is getting into use all over our coun
try. The numerous letters we receive from our vari
ous agents, informing us of cures effected in their im
mediate neighborhoods, warrant us in saying it is one
of the best, if not the very best, Cough Medicine now
before the public. It almost invariably relieves, and
not unfrequently cures the very worse cases When all
other Cough preparations have tailed, this has relieved
the patient, as Druggists, dealers in Medicines, and
Physicians can testily. Ask the Agent in your nearest
town, what has been his experience of the effects of
this medicine. If he has been selling it for any length
of time he will tell yon
IT IS THE BEST MEDICINE EXTANT.
Below we give a few extracts from letters we have
received lately, regarding the virtues of this medicine.
Dr. S. S. Oslin. of Knoxville, Ga., says : “ I have been
using your Liverwort and Tar very extensively in my
practice for three years past, and it is with pleasure I
state my belief in its superiority over all other articles
with which I am acquainted, for which it is recom
mended.”
Messrs Fitzgerald & Benners, writing fiomWaynes
ville, N. C., says : “ The Liverwort and Tar is becoming
daily more popular in this Country, and we think just
ly so. All who have tried it speak in commendable
terms of it, and say it is very beneficial in alleviating
the complaints for which it is recommended.’’
Our Agent in Pickeus District, S. C., Mr. S. It. Me Fall,
assures us “that he usesit with great benefit in hisowu
family, and recommends it to his neighbors.” He gives
an instance of a Nogro woman, iu his vicinity, who had
been suffering w ith di-ease of the Lungs for years, at
tended with severe Cough, who was relieved by the
Liverwort and Tar.
Such are the good reports we hear cf this Medicine
from all parts of the South. Vor_a report of the sur
prising cures it has performed in the Western aud
Northern and Eastern States, we would invite the suf
eriug patient to read the pamphlet which acoompanies
each bottle. To all, we say, have hone, have hope!

IYER’S
Sll PILES.
FOR ALL THE PURPOSES OF A
FAMILY PHYSIC.
There has long existed a public demand for ar
effective purgative pill which could be relied on ai
sure and perfectly safe in its operation. This liar
been prepared to meet that demand, and an extwv
sive trial of its virtues has conclusively shown witt
what success it accomplishes the purpose designed
It is easy to make a phvsical pill , but not easy t<
make the best of all pills—one which should havi
none of the objections, but all the advantages, tU
every other. This has been attempted here, auc
with what success we would respectfully submit tc
the public decision. It has been unfortunate foi
the patient hitherto that almost every purgative
medicine is acrimonious and irritating to the bow
els. This is not. Many of them produce so muol
griping pain and revulsion in the system as to more
than counterbalance the good to be derived front
them. These pills produce no irritation or pai*
unless it arise from a previously existing obstruc
tion or derangement in the bowels. Being purelj
vegetable, no harm can arise from their use in am
quantity ; but it is better that any medicine shook
be taken judiciously. Minute directions for thek
use in the several diseases to which they are ap
plicable are given on the box. Among the com
plaints which have been speedily cured by them, wt
may mention Liver Complaint, in its various forms
of Jaundice, Indigestion, Languor and Loss of Ap
, petite, Listlessness, Irritability, Bilious Headache
Bilious Fever, Fever and Ague, Pain in the Sid<
and Loins ; for, in truth, all these are but the con
sequence of diseased action in the liver. As a*
aperient, they afford prompt and sure relief in Cos
tiveness, Piles, Colic, Dysentery, Humors, Scrof
: ula and Scurvy, Colds with soreness of the body.
| Ulcers and impurity of the blood; in short, any
and every case where a purgative isjequired.
They have also produced some singularly suc
cessful cures in Rheumatism, Gout, Dropsy, Gravel
Erysipelas, Palpitation of the Heart, Pains in the
Back, Stomach, and Side. They should be freely
taken in the spring of the year, to purify the'blood
and prepare the system for the change of seasons.
An occasional dose stimulates the stomach and
bowels into healthy action, and restores the nppe
i tite and vigor. They purify the blood, and, by then
stimulant action on the circulatory system, rono
'' vate the strength of body, and restore the
; wasted or diseased energies of the whole organism.
Hence an occasional dose is advantageous, even
’ though no serious derangement exists; but un
' necessary dosing should never be carried too far,
, ai every purgative medicine reduces the strength.
when taken to excess. The thousand cases in which
, a physic is required cannot be enumerated here, bul
they suggest themselves to the reason of every
body; and it is confidently believed this pill wif
answer a better purpose than any thing which ha.'
hitherto been available to mankind. When theii
virtues are once known, the public will no lcngei
doubt what remedy to employ when in need of >
cathartic medicine. Being sugar-wrapped they ar<
? pleasant to take, and being purely vegetable, n<
harm can arise from their use in any quantity.
' For minute directions see wrapper on the Box.

numbness, mental depression, weakness of the will, in
disposition to move, faintness after exercise, broken
sleep and terrifying dreams, inability to remain iu one
place or position, weakness of the procreative organs,
sexual incompetency, melancholy, monomania, tiuor
albns, sinking at the stomach, female irregularities, a
chronic tendency to miscarriage, emaciation, and alt
complaints growing out of a free indulgence of the pas
sions, and all barreness that does not proceed from or
ganic causes, beyond the reach of medicine.
Wheuever the organs to be acted upon are free from,
malformation or strictural diseases, it is averred, that
MORSE'S INVIGORATING ELIXIR
will re-place weakness with strength, incapacity with
efficiency, irregularity with uniform and natural ac
tivity, and this not only without hazard or re-action,
but with a happy effect on the general organization.—
Bear in mind that all maladies, wherever They begin,
finish with the nervous system, and that the paraliza
tion of the nerve of motion and sensation is physical
death. Bear in mind, also, that for every kind of ner
vous disease the Elixir Cordial is the only reliable pre
paration known.
CURE OF NERVOUS DISEASES
No language can convey an adequate idea of the im
mediate, and almost miraculous change which it occa
sions in the diseased, debilitated and shattered nervous
system, whether broken down by excess, weak by na
ture, or impaired by sickness —the unstrung or relaxed
organization is at once braced, re-vivified and built up.
fhemental and physical symptoms of nervous disease
vanish together under its influence. Nor is the effect
temporary, on the contrary the relief is permanent—
for the Cordial properties of the medicine reach the
constitution itself, and restores it to its normal condi
tion. LOSS OF MEMORY,
