BEWARE OF IMITATIONS.
ASK for HAMPTON’S VEGETABLE TINCTURE.
The many cures made by this pleasant and safe
remedy may induce counterfeiting.
A medicine must have merit, and great merit too, to
stand the test of public opinion. No art of puffing can
galvanize a worthless article, so as to keep it up as a
good medicine, if it be not really so.
A good medicine will live, become popular, and ex
tend its sales year after year, in spite of opposition.
The people readily find out its virtues, and the fame of
them passes from mouth to mouth with more rapidity
J.han newspapers can spread it. A living witness testi
fying to the cure a medicine has made foi him, is of
far more service than any newspaper advertising.
In proof, of what we say above, we refer you to
HAMPTON’S VEGETABLE TINCTURE, and its effects.

AFFLICTED RRAD!
PHILADELPHIA MEDICAL HOUSE—Established 20
years ago by Dr. Kinkelin, corner of Third and
Union btreets, between Spruce and Pine. Philadelphia.
Invalids are apprised that Dr. Kinkelin confines his
practice to a particular branch of medicine, 'which en
gages his undivided attention. He cautions the unfor
tunate against the abuse of mercury ; thousands are
annually mercurialized out of life. Recent affections
are promptly extinguished.
Twenty years of experience in the treatment of a
class of diseases hitherto neglected and imperfectly un
derstood, has enabl d Dr. Kinkelin. (author of a work
on Self Preservation.) to prove that nine tenths of the
causes of nervous debility, local and constitutional
weakness, mental and physical suffering, are traceable
to certain habits, forming <he most secret yet deadly
and fatal springs of domestic misery and premature
mortality.
Take Particular Notice. —There is an evil habit some
times indulged in by boys, in solitude, often growing
up with them to manhood, and which, if not reformed
in due time, not only begets serious oostacies to matri
monial happiness, but gives rise to a series of protract
fced, insidious, and devastating affections. Few of those
who give way to this pernicious practice are aware of
the consequences, until they find the nervous system
shattered, feel strange and unaccountable feelings, aud
vague fears in the mind.
The unfortunate thus affected becomes feeble, is una
ble to labor with accustomed vigor, or to apply his
mind to study ; his step is tardy and weak, he is dull,
irresolute, and engages in his sport with less energy
than usual.
If he emancipate himself before the practice has
done its worst, and enter matrimony, hie marriage is
unfruitful, and his sense tells him that this is cau-ed by
his early follies. These are considerations which should
awaken the attention of those similarly situated,
Marriage requires the fulfilment of several condi
tions, in order that it may be really the cause of mutu
al happiness. Could the veil which covers the origin
of domestic wretchedness 1)8 rai.-cd, and its true source
in every instance disclosed—in how many could it be
traced to physical disqualifications and their attendant
disappointments! Apply then while it is yet time, in
order to have your unstrung and relaxed organization
rebraced, revivified and strengthened.
Remember, he who places himself under Dr. Kiuke
lin’s treatment may religiously confide in his honor as
a gentleman, and rely upon the assurance, that the se
crets of Dr. K.'s patients will never be disclosed.
Young man—let no false modesty deter you from
mzking your case known to one who, from education
and respectability, cau certainly befriend you.
Two many think they will conceal the secret in their
own hearts, and cure themselves. Alas! how often is
this a fatal delusion, and how many a promising young
man, who might have been an ornament to society,
has faded from the earth.
Strictures of the urethra are rapidly removed by the
application of a new therapeutical ageht, used only by
Dr. K Weakness and constitutional debility promptly

READ THE FOLLOWING CERTIFCATE.
Tallapoosa Cockty, Ala., Jan. 2,1852.
Dear Sir: — ; l send you this to certify to you that
your Extract of Yellow Bock and Sarsaparilla has per
formed one of the most wonderful cures on me that
has ever been effected on man.
I have been afflicted *for forty years with eruptions
on my legs and feet; in 1840 they got so bad that I had
to go on crutches, and in 184 b 1 had one leg amputated
above the knee. In about nine months after my other
(leg broke out in large eating and running sores from
my knee to my foot, and discharged a great deal of of
fensive matter. Sly groin also broke but in large biles.
I which discharged much offensive matter, and at the
same time my left ’’and broke out in large running
sores nearly to my elbow.
The misery that I have suffered for the last two years
I cannot describe to you. I was in such agony that I
never rested day or night.
In October last my son brought me one of your bot
tle wrappers ; I read it. and found record of some won
derful cures performed by your “ Extract of Yellow*
i ock and Sarsaparilla.” 1 sent and got two bottles of
it, aud commenced taking it. Iu two weeks, to my
great astonishment, my sores all became easy, and I
could sleep all night, a thing I had not done for two
years. When I had taken six bottles, my sores had
enarly all healed. My sores got well as if by enchant
ment. I have now used, in all, eight bottles of your
Extract of Yellow Dock and Sarsaparilla,” and I now
onsider myself well.
I entreat all of the afflicted to try this Medicine, for
believe it will cure any known disease in the world
Lay asideall prejudice and just try it, and proc aim its
real worth to suffering mankind, and entreat them to
take it, for it will cure them.
My case is well known in a large portion of South
Carolina, Georgia and Alabama, and it any should doubt
the above cure, 1 invite them to call on me, and 1 will
show them the scars. I can be found in Tallapoosa
County, Alabama, one mile from Stoe's Ferry.
RENAJATI HUGHES.
The Yellow Dock and Sarsaparilla is peculiarly adap
ted for females of dehcate health, resulting frem ir
regularities of menstrual discharges, and other diseases
peculiar to their sex. The proprietor has in his posses
sion a great number of ceatificates of cures performed
of the above description. We assure the afflicted, that
a bottle or two of Dr. Guysott's Extract of Yellow
Dock and Sarsaparilla will at once regulate those diffi
culties and renew the natural energies.

ll PILLS.
TOR ALL THE PTJRFOSES OF A
FAMILY PHYSIC.
These has long existed a public demand for ai
effective purgative pill which could be relied on at
sure rind perfectly safe in its operation. This has
been prepared to meet tha and an exten
sive trial of its virtues has conclusively shown witl
what success it accomplishes the purpose designed
it is casv to make a physical pill, but not easy t<
make the best of all pills— one which should havi
none of the objections, but all the advantages, oi
every other. This has been attempted here, anc
with what success We would respectfully submit t(
the public decision. It has been unfortunate foi
the patient hitherto that almost every purgative
medicine is acrimonious and irritating to the bow
els. This is not. Many of them produce so mucl
griping pain and revulsion in the system as to mor<
than counterbalance the good to be derived froir
them. These pills produce no irritation or pain
unless it arise from a previously existing obstruc
tion or derangement in the bowels. Being purely
vegetable, no harm can arise from their use in anj
quantity ; but it is better that any medicine shoulc
be taken judiciously. Minute directions for theu
use in the several diseases to which they are ap
plicable are given on the box. Among tne com
plaints which have been speedily cured by them, w<
may mention Liver Complaint, in its various forms
of Jaundice, Indigestion, Languor and Loss of Ap
petite, Listlessness, Irritability, Bilious Headache
Bilious Fever, Fever and Ague, Pain in the Sidt
and Loins ; for, in truth, all these are but the con
sequence of diseased action in tlie liver. As an
aperient, they afford prompt and sure relief in Cos
tiveness, Piles, Colic, Dysentery, Humors, Scrof
ula and Scurvy, Colds with soreness of the body.
Ulcers and impurity of the blood; in short, any
and every case where a purgative is required.
They have also produced some singularly suc
aessful cures in Rheumatism, Gout, Dropsy, Gravel
Erysipelas, Palpitation of the Heart, Pains in the
Back, Stomach, and Side. They should be freely
taken in the spring of the year, to purify the blood
and prepare the system for the change of seasons.
An occasional dose stimulates the stomach and
bowels into healthy action, and restores the appe
tite and vigor. They purify the blood, and, by theii
stimulant "action on the circulatory system, reno
vate the strength of ilie body, and restore the
wasted or diseased energies of the whole organism.
Hence an occasional dose is advantageous, even
though no serious derangement exists; but un
necessary dosing should never be carried too far,
as every purgative medicine reduces the strength,
when taken to excess. The thousand cases in which
a physic is required cannot be enumerated here, bul
they suggest themselves to the reason of evciv
body; and it is confidently believed this pill wiE
answer a better purpose than any thing which lias
hitherto been available to mankind. _ W hen theu
virtues are once known, the public will no longei
doubt wbat remedy to employ when in need of s
cathartic medicine. Being sugar-wrapped they art
pleasant to take, and being purely vegetable* m
harm can arise from their use in any quantity.

SSOO CHALLENGE.
HOBENSACK’S WOhM SYRUP.— An article
founded upon Scientific Principles, compound
ed with purely Vegetable substances, being per
fcctly safe when taken, and has never been known
to fail in curing the most obstinate case. Worms
can never exist when this remedy is once used*
from the fact that it not only destroys them but
removes all the slime and mucus which may re
main.
THE TAPE WORM.
This worm is the, most difficult one to destroy of
all that inhabit the human body. It grows to an
almost indefinite length, and becoming so coiled
and fastened in the intestines and stomach as to
produce fits, St. Vitus’ Dance, Ac., which is the
cause of many going to the grave, not believing
that these complaints have their origin from the
Tape Worm; consequently they do not use the.
proper medicines for their disease. To those who
aro afflicted with this awful foe to health, I rccom
mend the use of my W orm Syrup, and Liver .Pills,
the Syrup to be taken in doses of two table spoon
fuls three times a day, then take from five to eight
of my Liver Pills, to dislodge and pass the worm.
By strictly following these directions, the most ob
stinate cases of Tape Worm can be speedily cured.
ROUND OR-fcTOMACM WORM.
This worm is usually , found in the small intes
tines, and is the worm most common to children,
yet it is not entirely confined to them, as adults
have frequently been known to suffer with them.
The Symptoms most prominent while affected with
this worm, are hardness and fullness of the belly,
slimy stools, looseness of the bowels, picking at the
nose, a bluoish streak under the eyes, Ac. If you
or any of your children have any of the above
symptoms. HOBENSACK'S WORM SYRUP can
safely be depended upon—by using it you have a
certain, safo, and speedy cure; and if "after Wing
t according to the directions, the patient is no!
restored to health, and the worms thoroughly era
dicatod from the system, you can rest assured there
is no remedy beyond the grave, as lor f.il, there is
no such word as fail with those who use mv Worm
Syrup.
A6CARIDES OR SMALL THREAD WORMS
Those worms, to which the human svstem is lia
ble, are tho most troublosme of all others. They
aro gonerally to be foundin tho rectum, and if al
lowed to remain, from the irritation they produce,
lay the foundation lor serious disorders, such as
inflammation of the bowels, and other derange
ments of tho stomach. The best and safest medi
ae that can be used is HOBENSACK’S WORM
SIRUP. Such is tho astonishing power of my
medicines over Ascaradies, that I defy any one to
produce a caso where ray Worm Syrup and Liver
Pills are recommended to be used they will notcuro,
Aii that is necessary is to use the Syrup in accord
ance with directions on each bottle, and in case a
gentle purgative is required in order to allay tne
irritation they produce, tho Liver Pills by their
sympathizing action and healthy operation upon
the bowels, is the most pleasant medicine that can
bo taken.

Bear in mind that all maladies, wherever they fi
finish with the nervous system, and that the p r
tion of the nerve of motion and sensation is • h
death. Bear in mind, also, that for every kind o
vous disease the Elixir-Cordial is the only reliable p -
paration known.
CURE OF NERVOUS DISEASES.
No language can convey an adequate idea of the im
mediate, and almost miraculous change which it occa
sions in the diseased, debilitated and shattered nervous
system, whether broken down by excess, weak by na
ture, or impaired by sickness—the unstrung or relaxed
organization is at braced, re-vivified and built up.
The mental and physical symptoms of nervous disease
vanish together under its influence. Nor is the effect
temporary, on the contrary the reiief is permanent—
for the Cordial properties of the medicine reach tlio
constitution itself, and restores it to its normal condi ■
tion. .LOSS OF MEMORY, tr

A GREAT MEDICINE FOR FEMALES.
The unparalleled effects of this great restorative, in
all complaints incident to females, mark a new era in
the anDals of medicine. Thom ands of stimulants have
been invented —thousands of invigorauts concocted—
all purporti g to be specified in the various diseases and
derangements, to which the delicate formation of wo
man render ber liable.
EVERY WOMAN OF SENSE
who suffers from weakness, derangement, nervousness,
tremors, pains in the back, or any other disorder, whe
ther peculiar to her sex, or common in both sexes, to
give the Invigorating Cordial a trial.
MARRIED PERSONS
or others, will find this Cordial, after they have used a
bottle or two, a thorough regenerator of the system.
In all directions are to be found the happy parents ot
healthy o ffspring, who would not have hem so but for
this extraordinary preparation. And it is ec ually po
tent for the many diseases tor which it is recommended.
Thousands of young men have been restored by using
it. and not in a single instance bas it failed to benefit
them.
PERSONS OF PALE COMPLEXION,
of consumptive habits, are restored by the use of a
bottle or two to bloom and vigor, changing the skin
from a pele, yellow, sickly color, to a beautiful florid
complexion.
TO THE MISGUIDED.
Those are some of the sad and melancholy effects
produced by early habits of youth, viz : weakness of
the back and limbs, paius in the head, dimness of the
sight, loss of muscular power, palpitation of the heart,
dyspepsia, nervous irritability. derangement of tho di
gestive functions, general debility, symptoms of con
sumption, &e.
Mentady, the fearful effects on the mind are much
to be dreaded. Loss of memory, confusion of ideas,
depression of spirit.-, evil forebodings, aversion to so
ciety, self distrust, love of solitude, timidity, &c., ear
some of the evils produced. All thus afllietkd,
BEFORE CONTEMPLATING MARRIAGE,
should reflect that a sound mind and body are the most
necessary requisites to promote connubial happiness,
indeed, without these, the journey through life be
comes a weary pilgrimage—tho prospect hourly dark
ens the view ; the nrind becomes shadowed with despair
and filled with melancholy reflection that the happi
ness of anaother becomes blighted with your own.
