CARTER’S SPANISH MIXTURE.
The great Sprit g Medicine and Purifier of the Blood
is now used by hundreds of grateful patients, who tes

greatest'of all medicines. Carter’s Spanish Mixture.
Neuralgia, Rheumatism,. Scrofula, Eruptions on the
Skin. Liver Disease, Fevers, Ulcers. Old Sores. Affections
of the Kidneys, Diseases of the Throat, Female Com
plaints, Pains and Aching of the Bones and Joints, are
speedily put to flight by using this great and inestima

For all diseases of the Blood, nothing has yet been
found to compare with it. It cleanses the system of
all impurities, acts gently aud-efficiently on the Liver
and Kidneys, strengthens the Digestion, gives tone to
the Stomach, makes the Skin clear and healthy, and
restores the Constitution, enfeebled by disease or bro
ben down by the excesses of youth, to its pristine vigor
and strength.
For the Ladies, it is incomparably better than all the
cosmostics ever used. A few doses of Carter’s Spanish
Mixture will remove all sallowness of complexion,
bring the roses mantling to the cheek, give elasticity to
the step, and improve the general health in a remarka
ble degree, beyond all the medicines ever heard of.
A large number of certificates of remarkable cures
performed on persons residing in the city of Richmond,

Nelson & Edwards, Salvisa, Ky., June 2d, 1852, said :
“ We rejoice to inform you that this justly celebrated

which has been given it, and having tested its virtues
we unhesitatingly say it eminently deserves it.”
J. T. A J. W. Berry, Uniontowu, Ky., July 21, 1852,
said: l ‘\Ve have heard of many cures performed by
the use of Dr. llootland’s German Bitters, and believe
it to be a valuable medicine.”
J. Grant,. Irvine, Ky., June 20, 1852, said : “ We have

sicians and others purchase them by the half dozen aud
dozen.!’
Dr. P. Fatio & Bro., Knoxville, Tenn., April 9,1851,
said : “ Your Bitters are now selling very fast, and eve

These Bitters are entirely vegetable; they invigorate

ARE YOU SICK?
BEWARE OF IMITATIONS.
ASK for HAMPTON'S VEGETABLE TINCTURE.
The many cures made by this pleasant and safe
remedy may induce counterfeiting.
A medicine must have merit, and great merit too, to
stand the test of public opinion. No art of puffing can
galvanize a worthless article, so as to keep it up°as a
good medicine, if it be not really so.
A good medicine will live, become popular, and ex
tend its sales year after year, in spite of opposition.
The people readily find out its virtues, and the fame of
them passes from mouth to mouth with more rapidity
than newspapers can spread it. A living witness testi
fying to the cure a medicine has made for him, is of
tar more service than any newspaper advertising.
in proof of what we say above, we refer you to

AFFLICTED RRAD!
PHILADELPHIA MEDICAL HOUSE—Established2o
years ago by Dr. Kinkelin, corner of Third aud
Union Streets, between Spruce and Pine, Philadelphia.
Invalids are apprised that Dr. Kinkelin confines his
practice to a particular branch of medicine, which en
gages his undivided attention. He cautions the unfor
tunate against the abuse of mercury ; thousands are
aunuallj- mercurialized out of life. Recent affections
are promptly extinguished.
Twenty years of experience in the treatment of a
class of diseases hitherto neglected and imperfectly un
derstood, liasenabl.d Dr. Kinkelin, (author of a work
on Self Preservation.) to prove that nine tenths of the
causes of nervous debility, local and constitutional
weakness, mental and physical suffering, are traceable
to certain habits, forming the most secret yet deadly
and fatal springs of domestic misery and premature
mortality.
Take Particular Notice. —There is an evil habit some
times indulged in by boys, in solitude, often growing
up with them to manhood, and which, if not reformed
iu due time, not only begets serious oostacles to matri
monial happiness, but gives rise to a series of protract
ted, insidious, and devastating affections. Few of those
who give way to this pernicious practice are aware of
the consequences, until they find the nervous sj-stem
shattered, feel strauge and unaccountable feelings, aud
vague fears in the mind.
The unfortunate thus affected becomes feeble, is una
ble to labor with accustomed vigor, or to apply his
mind to study ; his step is tardy and weak, he is dull,
irresolute, and engages in his sport with less energy
than usual. *
If he emancipate himself before the practice has
done its worst, and enter matrimony, his marriage is
unfruitful, and his sense tells him that this is caused by
his early follies. These are considerations which should
awaken the attention of those similarly situated,
Marriage requires the fulfilment of several condi
tions, iu order that it may be really the cause of mutu
al happiness. Could the veil which covers the origin
of domestic wretchedness be raised, and its true source
in every instance disclosed —in how man3' could it be
traced to physical disqualifications and their attendant
disappointments! Apply then while it is yet tim%, in
order to ha\ e your unstrung aud relaxed organization
rebraced, revivified and strengthened.
Remember, he who places himself under Dr. Kinke
liu's treatment may religiously confide in his honor as
a gentleman, and rely upon the assurance, that the se
crets of Dr. K.'s patients will never be disclosed.
Young man —let no false modesty deter 3-011 from
mzkingyour case known to one who, from education
and respectabilit> r , can certainly befriend you.
Two many think they will conceal the secret in their
own hearts, aud cure themselves. Alas! how often is
this a fatal delusion, and how many a promising young
man, who might have been an ornament to society,
has faded from the earth.
Strictures of the urethra are rapidly removed by the
application of a new therapeutical ageht, used only l>y
Dr. K Weakness and constitutional debility promptly
cured, and full vigor restored.

plicitly, together with all their symptoms, per letter,
enclosing a remittance) Dr. K.’s medicine, appropriated
accordingly.

this medicine.
READ THE FOLLOWING CERTIFCATE.
Tallapoosa County, Ala., Jan. 2,1852.
Dear Sir: —l send >-ou this to certify to you that
your Extract of Yellow Dock and Sarsaparilla has per
formed one of the most vvonderful cures on me that
has ever been effected on man.
I have been afflicted for forty years with eruptions
on my legs and feet; in 1848 they got so bad that I had
to go on crutches, and in 1549 I had one leg amputated
above the knee. In about nine months after my other
leg broke out in large eating and running sores from
my knee to my foot, and discharged a great deal of of
fensive matter. My groin also broke out in large biles,
which discharged much offensive matter, and at the
same time my left hand broke out in large running
sores nearly to my elbow.
The misery that I have suffered for the last two years
I cannot describe to you. I was in such agony that I
never rested day or night.
In Octolier last my son brought me one of your bot
tle wrappers; I read it, and found record of some won
derful cures performed by your “Extract of Yellow
lock and Sarsaparilla.” I sent and got two bottles of
it, and commenced taking it. In two weeks, to my
great astonishment, my sores all became easy, and I
could sleep all night, a thing I had hot done for two
years. When I had taken six bottles, my sores had
euarly all healed. My sores got well as if by enchant
mout. I have now used, in all, eight bottles of your
Extract of Yellow Dock and Sarsaparilla,” and 1 now
onsider myself well. -
I entreat all of the afflicted to try this Medicine, for
believe it will cure any known disease in the world
Lay aside all prejudice and just try it, and proclaim its
real worth to suffering mankind, and entreat them to
take it, for it will cure them.
My case is well known in a large portion of South
Carolina, Georgia and Alabama, and if any should doubt
the above cure, I invite them to call on me, and I will
show them the scars. I can be found in Tallapoosa
County, Alabama, one mile from Stoe's Ferry.
RENAJATI HUGHES.
The Y'ellow Dock and Sarsaparilla is peculiarly adap
ted for females of delicate health, resulting frem ir
regularities of menstrual discharges, and other diseases
peculiar to their sex. The proprietor has in his posses
sion a great number of certificates of cures performed
of the above description. We assure the afllicted, that
a bottle or two of Dr. Guysott’s Extract of Yellow
Dock and Sarsaparilla will at oace regulate those diffi
culties and renew the natural energies.

US PILLS.
FOR ALL THE PURPOSES OF A
FAMILY PHYSIC.
Tilkuk lias long existed a public demand for ax
effective purgative pill which could be relied on ai
mho and perfectly safe in its operation. This has
been prepared to meet that demand, and an exten
si vo trial of its virtues has conclusively shown witl
what success it accomplishes the purpose designed
It is easy to make a physical pill, hut not easy t.<
make the best of all pills one which should hav<
none of the objections, but all the advantages, ot
every other. This has been attempted here, ant
with what success we would respectfully submit tc
the public decision. It has been unfortunate foi
the patient hitherto that almost every purgative
medicine is acrimonious and irritating to the bow
els. This is' not. Many of them produce so muct
griping pain and revulsion in the system as to mori
than counterbalance the good to be derived iron
them.' These pills produce no irritation or pain
unless it arise from a previously existing obstruc
tion or derangement in the bowels. Being purelj
vegetable; no harm can arise from their use in snj
quantity ; but it is better that ans medicine shoulc'
be taken judiciously. Minute directions for thcii
use in the several diseases to which they are ap
plicable are given on the box. Among the com
plaints which have been speedily cured by them, wt
may, mention Liver Complaint, in its various form*
of Jaundice, Indigestion, Languor and Loss of Ap*>
petite, Listlessness, Irritability, Bilious Headache
Bilious Fever, Fever and Ague, Pain in the Sid<
and Loins; for, in truth, all these are but the con
sequence of diseased action in the liver. As ar
aperient, they afford prompt and sure relief in Cos
tiveness, Piles, Colic, Dysentery, Humors, Scrof
ula and Scurvy, Colds with soreness of the body.
Ulcers and impurity of the blood ; in short, axij
and every case where a purgative is required.
They Lave also produced some singularly sue
Dessful cures in Rheumatism, Gout, Dropsy, Gravel
Erysipelas, Palpitation of the Heart, Pains in lh<
Back, Stomach, and Side. They should be freelj
taken in the spring of the year, to purify the blood
and prepare the system for the change of seasons
An occasional dose stimulates the stomach and
bowels into healthy action, and restores the appe
tite and vigor. They purify the blood, and, by thcii
stimulant action on the circulatory system, rear,
vate the strength of ije body, and restore the
wasted or diseased energies of the whole organism.
Hence an occasional dose is advantageous, even
though no serious derangement exists; but un
necessary dosing should never lie carried too far,
as every purgative medicine reduces the strength,
when taken to excess. The thousand cases in which
a physic is required cannot be enumerated br-rCy-tml
they* suggest themselves to the reason of every
body; and it is confidently believed this pill wi!
answer a better purpose than any thing which hay
hitherto been available to mankind. When then
virtues are once known, the public will no longei
doubt what remedy to employ when in need off
cathartic medicine. Being sugar-wrapped they an
pleasant to take, and being purely Vegetable, n<
harm can arise from their use in any quantity.

SSOO CHALLENGE.
HOBENSACK’S WORM SYRUP.—An article
founded upon Scientific Principles, compound
ed with purely Vegetable substances, being per
fectly safe when taken, and has never been known
to fail in curing the most obstinate case. Worms
can never exist when this remedy is once used,
from tho fact that it not only destroys them but
removes all the slime and mucus which may re
main.
THE TAPE WORM.
■This worm is the most difficult one to destroy ol
all that inhabit the human body. It grows to an
almost indefinite length, and becoming so coiled
and fastened in tho intestines and stomach as to
produce fits, St. Vitus’ Dance, &c., which is the
cause of many going to the grave, not believing
that these complaints have their origin from the
Tape Worm; consequently they do not use the
proper medicines for their disease. To those who
are afflicted with this awful foe to health, I recom
mend the use of my Worm Syrup, and Liver,Piils,
the Syrup to be takon in doses of two table spoon
fuls throe times a day, then take from five to eight
of my Liver Pills, to dislodge and pass the worm.
By strictly following these directions, the most ob
stinate cases of Tape Worm can be speedily cured.
ROUND OR STOMACH WORM.
This worm is usually found in the small intes
tines, and is the worm most common to children,
yet it is not entirely confined to them, as adults
have frequently been known to suffer with them.
The Symptoms most prominent while affected with
this worm, are hardness and fullness of the belly,
slimy stools, looseness of tho bowels, picking at the
nose, a blueish streak under the eyes, Ac. If you
or any of vour children have any of tho above
symptoms, iIOBENSACK’S WORM SYRUP can
safely be depended upon—by using it you have a
certain, safe, and speedy cure; and if aftor using
t according to the directions, tho patient is not
restored to health, and the worms thoroughly era
dicated from tho system, you can rest assured there
is no remedy beyond the grave, as for fail, there is
no such word as fail with those who use my Worm
Syrup.
ASCARIDES OR SMALL THREAD WORMS
These worms, to which the human system is lia
ble, are the most troublesmc of all others. They
are generally. t 0 be foundin the rectum, and if al
lowed to remain, from the irritation they produce,
lay tho foundation for serious disorders, such as
inflammation of the bowels, and other derange*
ments of the stomach. The best and safest medi
cino that can bo used is 110BENSACK S WORM
S'iRUP. Such is the astonishing power of my
medicines over Ascaradies, that I defy any one to
produce a case where my Worm Syrup and Liver
Pills are recommended to be used they will not cure,
All that is necessary is to use the Syrup in accord
ance with directions on each bottle; and in case a
gentle, purgative is required in order to allay tne
irritation they produce, the Liver Pills by their
sympathizing action and healthy operation upon
the bowels, is the most pleasant medicine that can
bo taken.

DR. MORSE’S INVIGORATING CORDIAL
A PHENOMENON IN MEDICINE
Health Restored and Life Lengthened
BY —
Dr. Morse’s Invigorating Elixir oi Cordial,
AT FIRST the properties attributed to Professor'
Morse's Invigorating Elixir or Cordial were deem
ed fabulous. The public often deceived could not be
lieve the simple and sublime truths announced by the
discoverer. But facts, undeniable facts, attested by
witnesses of the highest class and character, are now
triumphing over all doubts Incredulity is overthrown
by a mass of testimony which is perfectly irresistible
The Elixir remedies, in all cases, thedeplorable evils
arising from a misuse or abuse of the varieus orgaus
which make up the wonderful machine called man. It
restores to full vigor every delicate functioh connected
with that mysterious compound agency of matter and
mind, necessary to the re-produetion of liumat life.-
To persons of feeble muscular frame, or deficient in v»
tal power, it is recommended as the ou’y means of
communicating that energy which is necessary o tb«
proper employment of all the natural appetites, swell
ad the higher mental attributes. Its beneficial
are not confined to either sex or to any age. The fee
hie girl, the ailing wife, the listless, enervated yrutb.
the overwork man of business, the victim of nervous
depression, the individual suffering from general debili
ty, or from the weakness of a single organ, will trud j tD ,
mediate and permanent relief from the use of this iu -
comparable renovator. To those who have prediaprsi >
tion to paralysis, it will prove a complete and UFfail ng
safeguard against that terrible malady. ’There ai#
many, perhaps, who have so trilled with their constitu
tious, that they think themselves beyond the reach of
medicine. -Let not even these despair. The Flix-’r
deals with disease as it exists, without reference e
causes, and will not only remove the disorder itsel.
RE BUILD THE BROKEN CONSTITUTION ‘
The derangement of the system, leading to nervous
diseases, and the forms ot nervous disease itself, are so
numerous that it would require a column to enumerate
the maladies for which this preparation is a specific. >
few, however, inay be enumerated, viz : —neuralgia, e
dolereaux, headache, incipient paralysis, hysteria, pa
pitation of the heart, spinal affections, muscular debib
ty. tremors, flatulency, a pricking seusation in the flesh
numbness, mental depression, weakness ot the will, in
disposition to move, faintness alter exercise, broken i
sleep and terrifying dreams, inability to remain in oue
place or position, weakness of the procreative organs,
sexual iueompetency, melancholy, monomania, tiuor
albus,.sinking at the stomach, female irregularities, a ,
chronic tendency to miscarriage, emaciation, and all!
complaints growing out of a free indulgence of the pas
sions, and all barreuess that does not proceed from or- j
ganic causes, beyond the reach of medicine.
Whenever the organs to he acted upon are free from
malformation or strictural diseases, it is averred that
MORSE'S INVIGORATING ELIXIR
will re-place Weaknesswrith strength, incapacity with
efficiency, irregularity with uniform and natural ac
tivity, and this not only w ithout ha/.ard or re-actiou
but with a happy effect on the general organization.— -j
Bear in mind that all maladies, wherever they begin,
finish with the nervous system*, and that the paraliza
tion of the nerve of motion and sensation is physical
death. Bear in mind, also, that for every kind of ner-!
vous disease the Elixir Cordial is the only reliable pre
paration known.
CURE OF NERVOUS DISEASES.

mediate, and almost miraculous change w hich it occa
sions in the diseased, debilitated and shattered nervous
system, w hether broken down by excess, weak by na
ture. or impaired by sickness —the unstrung or relaxed
organization is at o'nce braced, re-vivified and built up.
The mental and physical symptoms of nervous disease
vanish together under its influence. Nor is the effect
temporary, on the contrary the relief is permanent— !
for the Cordial properties of the medicine reach the
constitution itself, and restores it to its normal condi- j
tion. .LOSS OF MEMORY,
