The great Spri g Medicine and Purifier of tbe Blood
is now used by hundreds of grateful patients, who tes

greatest of all medicines. Carter’s Spanish Mixture.
Neuralgia, Rheumatism, Scrofula, Eruptions on the

of the Kidneys Diseases of the Throat, Female Com
plaints, Pains and Aching of the Bones and Joints, are
speedily put to flight by using this great and inestima

MIC 1 O .
For all diseases of the Blood, nothing has yet been
found to compare with it. It cleanses the system of
all impurities, act.- gently and efficiently on the Liver
and Kidneys, strengthens the Digestion, gives tone to
the Stomach, makes the Skin clear and healthy, and
restores the Constitution, enfeebled by disease or bro
ben down by the excesses of youth, to its pristine vigor
and strength.
For the Ladies, it is incomparably better than all the
cosmostics ever used. A few doses of Carte*’s Spanish
Mixture will emove all sallowness of complexion,
bring the roses mantling to the cheek, give to
the step, and impr« ve the general health in a remarka
ble degree, beyond all the medicines ever heard of.
A large number of certificates of remarkable cures
performed on persons residing in the city of Richmond,
Va.. by the use of Carter s Spanish Mixture, is the best
evidence that there is uo humbug about it. The press,
hotel keepers, magistrates, physicians, and public men,

ASK for HAMPTON’S VECSETABLE TINCTURE.
Tbe many cures made by this pleasant and safe
remedy may induce counterfeiting.
A medicine must have merit, and great merit too, to
stand the test of public opinion. No art of puffing can"
galvanize a worthless article, so as to keep it up as a
good medicine, if it be not really so.
A good mediciae will live, become popular, and ex
tend its sales year after year, in spite of opposition.
The peoplaq'eadily find out its virtues, and the fame of
them passes from mouth to mouth with more rapidity
han newspapers can spread it. A living witnesv testi

far more service than any newspaper advertising.

AFFLICTED RRAD!
PHILADELPHIA MEDICAL i 1 OUSE—Established 20
years ago by Dr. Kinkelin. corner of Third and
Union rtreets. between Spruce and Pine, Philadelphia.
Invalids are apprised that Dr. Kinkelin confines his
practice to a particular branch of medicine, which en
gages his undivided attention. He cautions the unfor
tunate against the abuse of mercury ; thousands are
annually mercurialized out of life. Recent affections
are promptly extinguished.
Twenty years of experience in the treatment of a
class of diseases hitherto neglected and imperfectly un
derstood. has enabl d Dr. Kinkelin. (author of a work
on Self Preservation.) to prove that nine tenths of the
causes of nervous debility, local and constitutional
weakness, mental and physical suffering, are traceable
to certain habits, forming *he most secret yet deadly
and fatal springs of domestic misery and premature
mortality.
Take Particular Notice. —There is an evil habit some
times indulged in by boys, in solitude, often growing
up with them to manhood, and which, if not reformed
in due time, not only begets serious oostacles to matri
monial happiness, but gives rise to a series ol protraet
ted, insidious and devastating affections. Few of those
who give way to this pernicious practice are aware of
the consequences, until they find the nervous system
shattered, eel strange and unaccountable feelings, and
vague fears in the mind.
The unfortunate thus affected becomes feeble, is una
ble to labor with accustomed vigor, or to apply his
mind to study ; his step is tardy and weak, he is dull,
irresolute, and engages in his sport with less energy
than usual.
If he emancipate himself before tbe practice has
done its w orst, and enter matrimony, his marriage is
unfruitful, aud bis seuse tells him that this is cau-ed by
his early follies. These are considerations which should
awaken tbe attention of those similarly situated,
Marriage requires the fulfilment of several condi
tions, in order that it may be really tbe cause of mutu
al happiness. Could the veil which covers the origin
of domestic wretchedness be raised, and its true source
ia every instance disclosed—in how many could it be
traced to physical disqualifications and their attendant
disappointments! Apply then while it is yet time, in
order to have your unstrung and relaxed organization
rebraced, revivified and strengthened.
Remember, he who places himself under Dr. Kinke
lin's treatment may religiously confide in IBs honor as
a gentleman, and rely upon the assurance, that the se
cret.- of Dr. K.'s patients will never be disclosed.
Young man—let no. false modesty deter you from
mzkingyour case known to one who, from education
and respectability, can certainly befriend you.
Two many think they will conceal the secret iu their
own hearts, and cure themselves. Alas! how often is
this a fatal delusion, and how many a promising young
man, who might have been an ornament to society,
has laded from the earth.
Strictures of the urethra are rapidly removed by the
application of a new therapeutical ageht, used only by
Dr. K Weakness and constitutional debility promptly
cured, and full vigor restored.
Country Invalids can have (by stating their case ex
plicitly, together with ail their symptoms, per letter,
enclosing a remittance) Dr. K.’s medicine, appropriated
accordingly.
Forwarded to any part of ftre United States, an d pae

ROGER’S LIVERWORT AND Tar!
the complefe cure of Coughs, Colds, Influenza,
. Asthma, Bronchitis, Spitting of Blood, and all oth
er Lung Complaints tending to Consumption.
This preparation is getting into use all over our coun
try. The numerous letters we receive from our vari
ous agents, informing us of cures effected in the r im
mediate neighborhoods, warrant us in saying it is one
of the best, if not the very best, Cough Medicine now
before the public. It almost invariably relieves, and
not unfrequontly cures tbe very worse cases When all
other Cough preparations have failed, this has relieved
the patient, as Druggists, dealers in Medicines, aficj
Physicians can testify. Ask the Agent iu your nearest
town, what has ceen his experience of the effects of
this medicine. If lie has been selling it for any length
of time lie will tell you
IT IS THE BEST MEDICINE EXTANT.
Below we give a few extracts from letters we have
received lately, regarding the virtues of this medicine.
Dr. S. S. (Min. ot Knoxville, Ga., says: “ I have been
I using your Liverwort and Tar very extensively iu my
i practice for thiee years past, aiid it is with pleasure I
I state my belief iu its superiority over all other articles i
1 with which lam acquainted, for which it is recom- j
[ mended.”
Messrs Fitzgerald & Benners, writing from Waynes- :
ville, N.C., says : “ The Liverwort and Tar is becoming
daily more popular in this Country, and we think just
ly so. All who have tried it speak in commendable
terms ot it, aud say it is very beneficial in alleviating
the complaints for which it is recommended.” t
Our Agent in Pickens District, S. C., Mr. S. R. McFall, i
assures Uc “ that he uses it with great benefit in his own
family, and recommends it to his neighbors.” He gives •
an instance of a Nogro woman, in his vicinity, who had 1
been suffering with disease ol the Lungs for years, at- *
tended with severe Cough, who was relieved by the
Liverwort and Tar.
£*uch are the good reports we hear of this Medicine 1

AYER’S PILLS,
Anew and singularly successful remedy for tht
cure of all Bilious diseases Costiveness, Indi
gestion, Jaundice, Dropsy, Rheumatism, Fevers,
Gout, Humors, Nervousness, Irritability, Inflamma
tions, Headache, Fains in the Breast, Side, Back,
and Limbs, Female complaints, &c., &c. Indeed,
very few are the diseases in which a Purgative Medi
cine is not more or less required, and much sick
ness and suiTering might be prevented, if a harm
less but effectual Cathartic were more freely used.
No person can feel well while a costive habit of
body prevails ; besides it soon generates serious and
often fatal diseases, whichanignt have been avoided
by the timely and judicious use of a good purgative
This is alike true of Colds, Feverish symptoms, and
Bilious derangements. They all tend to become ot
produce the deep seated and formidable distemper#
which load the hearses all over the land. Hence a
reliable family physic is of the first importance to
the public health, and this Pill has been perfected
with consummate skill to meet that demand. An
extensive trial of its virtues by Physicians, Proses
sors. and Patients, has shown results surpassing
anything hitherto known of anv medicine. Cures
have been effected beyond belief, were they not sub
stantiated by persons of such exalted position and
character as to forbid the suspicion of untruth.
Among the eminent gentlemen to whom we art
allowed to refer for these facts, are
Prof, Valentine Mott, the distinguished Sur
geon of New York City.
Doct. A. A. Hayes, Practical Chemist of the
Port of Boston, and Geologist for the State of Mas
sachusetts.
Ira L. Moore, M. D., an eminent Surgeon and
Physician, of the City of Lowell, who has long used
them in his extensive practice.
H. C. Southwick, F.sq., one of the first mer
chants in New York City.
C. A. Davis, M. D., Sup’t and Surgeon of the
United States Marine Hospital, at Chelsea, Mass.
Did space permit, we could give many hundred
?uch names, from all parts where the Pills hav(
oeen used, but evidence even more convincing than
the certificates of these eminent public men it
shown in their effects upon trial.
These Pills, the result of long investigation anc
study, are offered to the public as the best and
most complete Which the present state of medica 1
science can afford. They are compounded not of
the drugs themselves, but of the medicinal virtues
only of Vegetable remedies, extracted by chemical
process, in a state of purity and combined togethci
in such a manner as to insure the best results. This
system of composition for medicines has been found
m the Cherry Pectoral and Pills both, to produce a
more efficient remedy than had hitherto been ob
tained by any process. The reason is perfectly ob
vious. While by the old mode of composition, ey
;ry medicine is burdened with more or less of acri
monious and injurious qualities; by this, each indi
vidual virtue only that is desired for the curative
jffect is present. All the inert and obnoxious qual
.ties of each substance employed are left behind, the
jurative virtues only being retained. Hence it is
self-evident the effect should prove as. they have
moved more purely remedial, and the Pills a surer,
more powerful antidote to disease than any othei
medicine known to the world. _
As it is frequently expedient that my medicine
should be taken under the counsel Os an attending
Physician, and as he could not properly judge of a
•emedy without knowing its composition, I have
supplied the accurate .Formula by which both my
Pectoral and Pills are made to the whole body of
ctitioners in the United States and British Amer-
Provinces. If however there should be any
who has not received them, they will be
omptly forwarded by mail to his address.
Os all the Patent Medicines that are offered, how
few would be taken if their composition was known'
Their life consists in their mystery. I have no
mysteries.
'The composition of my preparations is laid open
to all men, and all who are competent to judge on
the subject, freely acknowledge their convictions
of their intrinsic merits. The Cherry Pectoral was
by scientific men to be a wonderful
medicine before its effects were known. Many em
inent Physicians have declared the same thing of
my Pills, and even more confidently, and are will
ing to certify that their anticipations were more
than realized by their effects upon trial.
They operate by their powerful influence on the
internal viscera to purify the blood and stimulate it
into healthy action remove the obstruction sof
the stomach, bowels, liver, and other organs of the
body, restoring their irregular action to health, and
by correcting wherever they exist such derange
ments as are the first origin of disease.
Being sugar wrapped they are pleasant to take
and being purely vegetable, no harm can arise from
their use in anv quantity.
For minute directions, see the wrapper on th<
Box.

HOBENSACK'S LIVER PILLS.
NO part of the system is more liable to disease

the maladies for which this preparation is a specific. >
lew, however, may be enumerated, viz:—neuralgia, »
dolereaux, headache, incipient paralysis, hysteria, pal
pitation of the heart, spinal affections, muscular debih
ty. tremors, flatulency, a pricking sensation in the flesh
numbness, mental depression, weakness of the will, in
disposition to move, faintness after exercise, broken
sleep and terrifying dreams, inability to remain in one
place or position, weakness of the procreative organs,
sexual incompetency, melancholy, monomania, tluor
albus, sinking at the stomach, female irregularities, a
chronic tendency to miscarriage, emaciation, and all
complaints growing out of a free indulgence of the pas
sions, and all barreness that does not proceed from or
ganic causes, beyond the reach of medicine.
Whenever the organs to be acted upon are free from
malformation or structural diseases, it is averred that
MORSE’S INVIGORATING ELIXIR
will re-place w.akness with strength, incapacity with
efficiency, irregularity with uniform and natural ac
tivity, and this not only w ithout hazard or re-action,
but with a happy effect on the general organization.—
Bear in mind-that all maladies, wherever they beg+n,
finish with the nervous system, and that the penaliza
tion of the nerve of motion and sensation is physical
death. Bear in mind, also, that for every kind of ner
vous disease the Elixir Cordial is the only reliable pre
paration known.
CURE OF NERVOUS DISEASE’S.
No language can convey an adequate idea of the im
mediate. and almost miraculous change which it occa
sions in the diseased, debilitated and shattered nervous
system, whether broken down by excess, weak by na
ture, or impaired by sickness—The unstrung or relaxed
organization is at once braced, rts-vivified and built up.
The mental and physical symptoms of nervous disease
vanish together under its influence. Nor is the effect
temporary, on the contrary the relief is permanent—
,l'or the Cordial properties of the medicine reach the
constitution itself, and restores it to its normal condi
tion. .LOSS OF MEMORY,

; BEFORE CONTEMPLATING MARRIAGE,
- should reflect that a sound mind and body are the most
- necessary requisites to promote connubial happiness,
indeed, without these, the journey through life be
comes a weary pilgrimage—the prospect hourly dark
ens the view ; the mind becomes shadowed with despair
and filled with melancholy reflection that the happi
> ness of annotbei becomes blighted, with your own.
