Miles G. Dobbins, of Griffin, Treasurer ;
The Road has not yet been turned over to
the State, but it is expected that such will be
the case.
Major General Thomas, under directions from
the War Department proposes to turn it over
to a board of true and loyal directors whom
he can conscienciously approve of and accept.
Upon further condition, that bond shall be
given and an account shall be taken of tbe

have been accepted by tbe Governor, and the
Board is proceeding to comply therewith, and
when consnmated, tbe Road will again be un

Only two of tbe above appointees are per-

known to our people to be a polished gentle
man, au energetic and discreet business man
and one well versed in tbe a’’’airs of railroads.
Col. Bangb is a gentleman every way wor
tby tbe responsible position to which he has
been appointed. He has for several years
been a citizen of Atlanta, and has won great
y upon the esteem of our citizens by his dig
nified character and gentlemanly demeanor.
Os tbe other appointments we cannot speak
as knowing them. But the testimony of
fr ends who are acquainted with them pro
nounces the appointments wise and judici
ous.
We wish tbe gentlemen well in their new
positions and hope they may be able to make
their charge tbe soifrce of revenue to the
State that it has been heiet >fcre.
