PARTIES. As long as this is a representative government, so long will there be political parties here seeking to control the administration of its public affairs- The signs of I'm times point to a disruption ot what has been known as the Republican party at the North. Thf policy of President Johnson, in regard to the restoration of the States, which had severed their connection with the l.nited States, is bitterly opposed by the radical portion of the Republican party, and it is very evident that such men us Chase, Sumner. Wilson and Phillips will no longer support the administration in power at Washington. They will organize a new party upon the policy of rejecting the members elected to Ccngn ss from the lately seceding States, until these States will consent to confer the right of suffrage cn negroes The more moderate portion of the Republican party, beaded by the Adminis- t ation at Washington, will unite with the Demo cratic party m the establishment of a great Union Conservative Party, pledged to the support of Piesident Johnson's reconstruction policy The people of the South, just now, are heartily sick of politics, and think more of recuperating their I dilapidated fortunes than they do ot engaging in A career of prosperity is before it partizan strife.
