Hen derson as a candidate for congress, which went to the press of the district last week, was received with enthusiasm by his friends in QOcilla and throughout Irwin coun ty. His friends here are already organizing a J. A. J. Henderson club, which will actively assist him in his campaign throughout the district, The people of Irwin county feel that if the people of the district knew Mr, Henderson as th-y know him here, there would be no doubt of his election, and one of the objects of the club will be to acquaint the voters of other counties with the sbility possessed by Irwin county’s far mer and business man. Dorminey, proprietor of the Aldine Hotel is having the house repapered throughout, and the excellent appearance of the apartments already finished is in deed a matter worthy of praise, The improvements which are con stantly being effected in the Aldine is an evidence of the thought and attention that the management gives the matter of making their guests comfortable. The lobby has been papered with a pretty cool looking material and the walls of all the guest rooms are receiving a new covering. ANES O TR 2 S(NATIONAL) 2 G, BAN S Ders 55D Canine Has No ’ o ’ Legal Standing Atlanta, April 18.—It makes no difference if it is a hound, or a setter, or any other breed for that matter under Georgia law, it isn’t property. That’s the way the state court of appeals sizes up the canine con tingent in a decision declaring that while horses, cows, hogs and other domestic animals have a fixed value, a cannie no matter what its pedigree and intrinsic value, has no legal standing in dollars and cents. The decision was rendered in the case of the Alabama Great South ern Railroad versus W. W. Crre ton of Rising Fawn, Dade county. NO. 29 Felder Harley Drowns in Florida A message was received in the city yesterday announcing the death of Felder Harley, of Valdosta, who was drowred on Wednesday at Titusville, Fla. The young man was twenty-four years of age, and was a brother of Mrs. Clayton Jay of this city. Before moving to Valdosta about six years ago, he lixed in this city with his parents, Mr. ahd Mrs. J. H. Harley, and is pleasantly re membered by a host of friends who will be grieved to learn of his un timely death. Mrs. Jay left today for Valdosta to attend the funeral.
