AND DAUGHTERS ENTERTAIN
The beautiful colonial home of
Mr. and Mrs. J. D, McLauchlin
was the scene of a most elaborate
party last Thursday afternoon,
when Mrs. McLaucklin and the
Misses McLauchlin entertained for
several attractive visitors, Miss
Margaret Ramsey, of Camden,
Ark.. the guest of Miss May Wil
cox, being a special guest of the
occasion. The living room, draw
ing room and hbrary were thrown
together and presented a most at
tractive picture, the rooms being
tastily decorated with summer
flowers. At a beautifully appoint
ed table in the dining room, punch
was poured by Miss Rosa Mae
Adams, and in the front parlor,
sweet music was dispensed by
Misses Dixie Jay and Verna Mc-
Lauvchlio. .
About fifty guests were present
and after several delightful rounds
of “‘rook” a delicious salad course
followed by an ice course was
served, the guests departing at
dusk for their respectivehomes.
Mrs. R. M. Ware has returned
fromm Valdosta where she spent the
past week or more with her
mother, Mrs, Garbutt who has
been seriously ill, but is reported
slightly improved at this time.
Mrs, Ware’s many frier ds will re
gret to know that she also has
been indisposed since returning
home.

Central Methodist church.
The house was pretty in its
decorations of potted plants and
quantities of black eyed susans.
Lemonade was served as the
guests arrived, After the usual
business matters ot the meeting
were attended to, the gracious
hostess assisted by Mesdames
Guyton Fisher and R. E. Lee
served a palatable eight course
dinner consisting of fruit salads,
chicken salads, pickles, olives,
sundwiches, fried chicken and bis
cuits, ice cream and cake, divinity
fudge, ginger ale and cigars,
Mrs. Cardwell needed no other
evidence than t hese delicious
edibles to prove her a culinary
artist. This was the largest attend
ed meeting of the stewards for
sometime, Those present were:

Ga., and Mrs. Florence Taylor, of
Florence, Ala., are guests of Col.

Mrs, F. Kyle Chandler has re
turned from a visit with relatives
in Atlanta and Manchester.
Mrs, George H., Martin left
Friday for Quitman, Georgia, to
visit her parents, while her aunt
Mrs. Elizabeth Hayes of Texas is
there, and to be at the graduation
of her youngest sister, Miss Fior
rie Eva Wilkes, She will visit
relatives in Thomasville, Moultrie,
and Doerum before returning
home,

Thurmond’s party this morning atv
her lovely home on south Lee
street.

room were open to the guests and
were prettily decorated for the
occasio~, The morning was de
lightfully spent in an informal way
and before departing the guests
were served a delicious two-course
luncheon,
