Agricultural Society.
The farmers of the Ashton Dis
triet met Wednesday, Aug. 27th,
and endorsed resolutions and by
laws adopted at the organization
of the. Ben Hill County Agricul
taral Socciety on Aug. 22, and
organized themselves intoa body
to co-operate with the county or
ganization.
The following officers were
elected: R. J. Bishop, chairman:
J. T. Walker, secretary; W. H.
Robitzsch, president, and E. E.
Robitzseh, treasurer.
A committee consisting of J.
W. Dixon, D. A. Cone, T. N.
Middlebrooks, C. C. Fountain
and F. W. Shultz were appointed
to draft resolutions endorsing the
policy adopted by the county or
ganization. :
On motion of J. W. Dixon the
following amendment to the
county organization was sugges
tested: Be it resolved that no
member of this organization shall
offer any special inducement to
cotton pickers, such as peanuts,
cane or drinks of any deseription.
It is the sense of the organization
that the onlv componsation to he
received by the pickers shall be
50c par hundred ponnds ’til the
first of December and 60c per bun
dred after that date. ;
