to B. A. Worthington, president
of the Chicago and Alton railroad,
J. B. Smith, of Quinlan, Texas,
asks foigiveness for having ¢ ‘beat
en” the road out of his fare for a
ride of 293 miles in 1893, He said
he believed God bad forgiven him
and he hoped the company would.

Impersonating An Officer. \
George Thomas, claiming Doug
las as his home, was arrested to
day by Deputy Ben Barton on
Central Avenue. Thomas repre
sented himself to be a detective
and claimed to be deputy sheriff
in Coffee county. The grand
jury will investigate the case
next Monday.

leyan, was married to D. B. Nichol
son, of Rochelle, a graduate of Mer

cer, performed the ceremony and

also a graduate of Mercer, acted as
best man. The wedding took place

in pink voile with slippers and gloves

Nicholson, brother of the groom, fol
