Latimore and Leigh’s complete

M. Cohan’s consistently success
ful musical play, ‘Forty-five
Minutes from Broadway,” be
lieved by many to be the most
worthy effort the industrious
youung actor-author has yet pro
duced, and in which Bert Leigh
will be seen in the role of ‘‘Kid
Burns,”” the slangy ex-prize
fighter, while Hazele Burgess
will appear as the maid Mary.
The caste and typical Cohanes

as during the year’s long run in
New York and Chicago.

Barrett Writes On
Unsettled Conditions
To the Members and Oflicers «f
the Farmers’ Union:
Unrest is back of every intellec
tual or pclitical crusade or tend
encv in this country today.
One need not be a republican, a
democrat, a socialist, a bull-moose
or a mewmber of ax:y other party
to realize that fact.
Lock about you and with very
few exceptions you will see few
people who are saticfied with ex
isting conditions. Oane party may
diagnose the trouble 1n its owr
particular way, and prescribe its
own particular remedy. Anothe:
party may take an exactly oppositt
course.
But the man in the city or the
country, if he reads and thinks
ind observes even a little, realizes
shat clowly, but irresistibty, there
is approaching a readjustment in
Awierica; and in this readjustment
vhe main battle cry will be a more
equal distribution of the burdens
and the rewards, of the penalties
and the premiuws.
The great majority of Americans
ire discontented with the status
lis it now is, and the new spirit
that is breathing over the face of
vhe waters of thought and senti
ment is the genuine and not the
fake, brotherhood of man—or at
ieast a condition nearer approxi
mating it than we have seen yet
i this pation,
In thav day of change, of evolu
tivn, that is coming, it is to the
interest of both town and country
o stand as one Inthe final analysis
we are all Americans.
It is true, that a few prey upon
wown and country gelike. It is
weainst the interest of this few to
encourage a thorough understand
ing between town and country,
We must remember, in cousider
ing this fact, that the city man of
today was the country man of yes
.erday; that the country man of
soday is likely to' be the city man
»f tomorrow; that both are of the
same blood, with the same ties and
vhe identical ultimate interest.
I am glad, as every thinking
American should te glad, that the
era of misunderstanding between
city and country is disappearing.
Progress in that direction means
that in the arduous and delicate
solution of the problems that be
set our common nation, town ani
country will be arrayed together
and battling intclligently for hum
an rights,. whether in the most
populous city or the most sparse
ly settled country.
