'Tuesday s City Election
Bob Fletcher Leads The
Ticket.
The 1912 city election passes
into history as one of the most
peaceful in the history of Fitz
garald, there was a spirited con
test on all day by the candidates
for the various offices and their
friends, vet not the least distur
bance took place atthe polls.
Everybody took things good na
turedly, and when the result was
declared the defeated candidates
and their supporters, as well as
the victors, felt that the city’s
interests were in good hands,
though the leading issue with
some had entirely been oblitera
ted for the time by the election
of the four aldermen. The vote

Offer Ten-Day Course.
Dear Farmers:—l am interes
ted deeply in better farming and
want to do everything possible to
assist you in bringing about the
desired end. Hencelam address
ing this letter to you through
your county paper. Iwant to be
of service to you not only through
the Boys’ Corn Clubs, but in any
other way possible.
I am writing to suggest that
you take advantage of the Far
mers’ Ten-Day Short Course
offered by the State College of
Agriculture, Athens, Ga., begin
ning January 2, 1913, and con
tinuing until January 14th.
I know a farmer in Sumter
county who took this ten-day
short course in 1910. Before that
time he was thought of as only a
common farmer. As a result of
that ten-day course he has revo
| lutionized the farming in his com
‘munity and other farmers took
the course in 1911 and 1912.
Your railroad fare there and
back and your expenses while in
Athens should not exceed $25 00.
and I know the benefit you will
receive from the course will be
repaid to you a hundred fold.
You see you can go at a time
when you are least busy.
Athens iS a beautiful city, a
place where you will be glad to
visit. You are entitled to a vaca
tion after a hard year’s work and
there is no better way nor place
to take it.
I shall be there and shall be
glad to be of any service to you
in making the trip for you the
most pleasant possible. If you
contemplate going please notify
me at once and I shall be glad to
have literature sent you.
I hope many of you farmers
will go; I know it will pay you.
