GOV, HARRLS 10 BE
GUEST OF HONGR
Gov. Nat E. Harris will arrive
on the A.,, B. & A. Tuesday
morning to participate in the Re-
Union. Some weeks ago an in
vitation had been extended the
Governor to visit Fitzgerald on
this occasion, but at that time
his duties in connection with the
Legislature made it doubtful
whether he could arrange to ba
here, as only five days are allow
ed him tosign the aects of the
Legislature after its adjoura
ment and the mass of bills usual
ly passed made it uncertain that
he could spare the time. On ac
count of the sudden adjournment
of the House, without passing
the many proposed measures,
the opportunity presented itsefl
to spend the two days with his
old comrades in arms. The Gov
ernor will be met at the depot by
a special committee and escorted

1o the south, tbe Ro-cians, 22cording 9 the sume souvee, made an
unsucees=tul sorife from Kovno, which the Germans are approaching.
In the Polish cector the Germans are slowly advan-~ineg on Bre ‘t-i
Litovsk, While they continue to take prisoners they claim no capnure?
of ariillery or booty, which military observers say indicates that the
grand duke’s armies continue their orderly retreut and that for a long
time to come will be able to prevent the Germans from det:uching any
pari of their army for large ventures elsewhere. The only evidencel
of activity outside of Poland and the Baltic province is on the Serbianl
iroutier, where a bombardment of Belgrade by the Austrians and a
count.r bombardment of Sewmlin and Pasoova by the Serbians has been
recuted. Acenrding to Nish, Avstrian attempts to cross the Danube
near tke Seibian and Rumanian borders have been repulsed, but mili
tary experts here believe this region will be the scene of the next
Austro-German offeusive. There is some speculation in military circles
as to whether Rumania, s well as Serbia, wiil be attacked because of
Rumania’s refusual to allow war munitions to pass through to T'arkey,
There is no late news from the Dardanelles, but information is
expected hourly of a new ‘movement of which t:e landings by the
allies last week were the preliminaries,
Artois, the forest of the Argonne and the Vosges mountains, con
