Berlln, November 4.—General Boyadjieff’s first Bulgarian
army is only six miles from Nish, former capital of Serbia. The
German War Office officially announced to-day that the Bulgars
have stormed Kalafat, six miles northeast of Nish.
Six hundred and fifty Serbian soldiers have been captured in
the fighting north of Kraljevo.
In the eastern theater of war, Field Marshal Von Hindenburg’s
army has turned upon the Russians in the sector of Dvinsk and
forced them out of Mikulisohki, which they had occupied on
Tuesday. . '
In the Western theater of war the Germans have taken 800
yards of French trenches north of Massiges, in Champagne. |,
DAY'S DEVELOPMENTS |
IN THE WORLD-WAR.
Greece has again taken her place as the central point of interest
1 the Balkans. The cabinet of Alexander Zaimis bas fullen, and ap
parently ex-Premier Eleutherios Venizelos is once more in the ascen
dancy. ; Skl
Dissolution of the Greek Parliament is talked of, . Kinz Constan
tine still holds the reins of bower and his attitude, always strongly
neutral, has not heen defined. So far as known he has not accepted the
resignation of the Zaimis ministry and it may be that the Premier will
be induced to retrain office, or that some man other than M. ‘Vvenizelosi
}will be asked to fgrm a new cabinet, ‘
T de}y "gtbe Greek government, however, is considered in
London as #+ hening the position of the Enténte powers in the

Down in the southeast, near' Strumitsa,’ uuqfi‘éfil ‘advices say they
have been engaged by the French in an artillery duel,” and in the
Babuna Pass the Serbians are repelling their furious assaults. Y
The Bulgarians, however, are only a few miles to the northeast
of Nish, the capture of which would give the central powers an ex
cellent point of advantage for the despatch of arms and munitions to
the Turks and fer operating southward against the oncoming Briush
and Frezch forces. - - ‘
The report that Russian forces have been landed at ‘Varna is de
hied in an unofficial message from Petrograd. But the British and
French continue sending troops to Saloniki to be despatched to the aid
iof -Serbia..
‘ RESUME OFFENSIVE
The Germans near Dvinsk again have resumed the offensive and
recaptured from the Russians the town of Mikulischki and the other
positions which the Germans had been forced to evacuate in the force
of superior numbers.
The Russians, dhowever, are still attacking along the Stripa river
and around the village of Sienikowize, 1n Galicia.
Vienna asserts that the fighting in both regions is going in favor
of the Teutons and that near Sieniekowice they have captured 3,000
Russians.
The French and Germans are at grips in Champagne, where at
tacks on certain trenches have been going on constantly for several
days, with a frequent shifting of fortune. Otherwise artillery en
gagements have predominated along the line in France and Belgium.

There is very little to do to make
the entire route to Waycross a first
