On Monday, there will bo a mile heat race, best three in five, for running horses, open to the world. In this race there are four entries which will make it a very interesting race. Gen. This race will be followed by a mile heat race for three years olds, in which the Bartow county Jack Malone filly will contest with her Tennessee sister. The day’s racing will close with a mule race, mile heats, in which there are a number of entries. The first race will be called at three o’clock precisely, and the others will fol low in close succession. For years past one of the chief centres of attraction at Fairs has been the sew ing machine department, and not without reason. At the present Fair the Wheeler &. Wilson Company have shown a large va riety of work beautifully done on every variety of material. We notion especially a gentleman's dressing gown of substantial brown cassimere, with deep silk facings quilted in diamonds; also, three infants’ dresses—marvels of patient labor, which we shall not attempt to describe; besides numerous articles in plain sewing, tuck ing, cording and ruffling. The samples of shoe and leather stitching, done with their n*w No. 6 machine, ore also very fine. This machine, we understind, has been adopted by all the principal manu facturers of shoes and clothing because of the superior manner in which it executes every description of heavy sewing, and its great speed and durability. The company also exhibit a fine line of sewing silk and thread. They will, in all probability, secure a fair proportion of the premiums offered. This matter of premium taking dates back & good many years, and the Wheeler & Wilson company during the twenty years in which their machines have been before the public, have been accorded prize edals and diplomas without number from almost every nation on the globe, and still they come. Last fall they re ceived the highest premiums at the State fairs of North Carolina, South Carolina* Alabama, and at Savannah, Columbus, Augusta, Opelika and Selma, Ala. This year they commenced by taking the first premiums at the Vienna Exposition—be ing the grand n.edal of progress, medal of merit and recommended for the grand diploma of honor. This was followed by throughout tbe Northern fairs, the first premiums at aix fairs in South Carolina and Georgia, and now the tele graph announces that the Maryland Insti tute Fair at Baltimore .awarded Wheeler A Wilson the gold medal for their new No. 6 sewing machine. Other sewing ma chines received nothing. Hun ah for the Wheeler & Wilson—Southern favorite. % Tbr EH wou also. y«ar any. Black Alpacas, —AND— NOTARY PUBLIC. | L. B.
