The printer* Saturday got Mr. O. G. Sparks down as Judge of the Superior Court for six years; when it should hare been Judge of tho Inferior Court, for the same length of time. Mr. Spark good judge of almost anything; yet we had no deairo to giro him credit for fill ing a position ho 1ms never held. In Mr. Hoard man's meteorological re port, which wns published on the 6tb, ho is made to record the rain fall daring October, 1872, aa 20.VOO inches, and that of tho same month of tho present year as 40.ICO inches. We did not, at first, think it necessary to correct the erro sscrawl to us that it ought to bo appa rent to every one; but as Mr. Boar has received some communications from abroad relative to such on extraordinary rain-fall, it is perhaps ss well to state that tho rooord for October, 1872, should have .been twenty-six hundredths of an inch, and during tho same month this year forty hundredths of an inch—which makes a material diiTorenoe as compared with the report as first published. The Mayor's Court. For the first time in a fortnight. Ills Honor tho Mayor, in propria panama, was on the bench to dispense munici pal ji tioo with his usual «lisprd>eh. He found fivo names on the docket. Tito first was John Jones, charged with cheating and swindling, but the charge was withdrawn and tho cose did not come to trial. Gun Wnyman, a very ragged negro, and an old offender and a frequent was booked as drunk and disorderly. Thera was no trouble in proving this charge and Gus will have to pay ten dob lart toward that public school-house, or work on tho streets thirty dayt. Tom Gritlin was on his way from Selma to Atlanta. Ho halted in Macon long enough to tost the quality of the whisky. Consequence as usual. Griffin spent the night in tho barracks. As ho luul but one leg, and looked to be not in good health, he was discharged and furnished with the George Washing Saturday night h and he had to i> toward that publ stole getting opportui gray-beaded old urant in town, batch of <k>ugh, a fine of five dollars chool house. i. white, was up for being iorly. Dupre* A Benedict?* minstrels made their second appearance this season at Ratoon Hall bust night, and played to one of the beet audiences that has been in tho house so far this year. The troupe subtaiued its reputation for being the best now upon the road. Kvcry port of the performance, from the opening chorus to the final burlesque, was elegantly done, and tho audience showed its appreciation in * most unmistakable manner. This troupe has more good vocalists than any similar company that has ever visited Macon. Tho concert, with which its performance begins, includes some puves that amid have no better rendi tion. *• The Flower of Kildare,” by Mr. Frank Dutnont, was admirably sung and delighted tt. audience greatly. "Touch the Harp Gently," by Air. Thos. B. Dix on, elicited the heartiest applause. So did tho comic souga of Low Benedict ami George H. Edwards. Of course there were toasts, among which were “ The Central City,” “Oar Harde man,” “ Mayor Huff,” “ The Press of Georgia,” “Greer, Lake A Co.» the live grocers,” and more such, all of which were more or lets responded to, and then Maj. Sturm added a little music, which was the only thing needed to complete the fun. Token oil in all, it was one of the pleasantest little affairs we ever wit nessed, and was heartily enjoyed by all present. About the c*ooe of it, AIajo7 Storm was board to say, “Ob, I’m so glad I came to the State Fair at Ala- oon.” We think he has cause to be. However, he is not the only one who is glad on that account, as he was one of tho mo»t affable and useful gentlemen in Floral Hall. In addition to tho vice he rendered Messrs. Greer, Lake k Co., he was always ready to lend hfdping hand to any one who needed a sistanoe and the ladies had many occa sions to thank him for his oourteoui de meanor and kind offices- The oompliment be received yesterday, was no more than be deserved. _ READING NOTICES.
