From the above liigh-soanding title, it

But, reader, how do you think this act
provides for catching those “smart ras
cals"—those fallows that went landed to
gether to rob, and who did rob, the Statu?
Instead of allowing the usual compensa
tion of ooo-half in case of recovery to in
formers who might Mini; proper to “fight”
those “forty thieves" or more, or some
specific sum being named, so that one
might know what ho would get in com of
recovery, the first section of the aet only
provides that an informer shall bo allowed
“such compensation for himself and his
cornual, and no mere, as the court may
think equitable and just, and to be paid
out of the rocovtoy, and not otherwise,
under order of the court.”
This is groat encouragement indeed
for a man to risk being waylaid and shot
nr havo his barn burnt out. eta, for
“ robbers " are not too good to do such
things towards thoso who would bring
them to j nation.
But the cream (for these men with
“ stolon property,” or property unlaw
fully or fraudulently obtained from tlic
State) in the above reeitad act. is con
tained in tho following ninth uoction. Here
it ia in full, vis ■
