The Pike Case.
It is understood that a movement is on
foot among the friends of l. B. FJko to
obtain bail for him. Judge Hill has inti

gave them to understand that it must be

wc see bo reason why not—there is no
doubt that it would be beneficial to the
pcopla.' It would teach them how to
practice economy, - and most of them
would find them selvae in better pecuni
ary condition at the end of each month
t!am when they ran monthly accounts at
: 1.0 stores. The merchants also would be
better off, because they would not be bur
dened with bad accounts or troubled with
running after "slow pay” customers.
Then nobody would owe any body; trade
would be on a sound footing; merchants
would be easy at banks, and not troubled
about the payment of their freights, and
thing! generally would approach as near
a condition of affluent prosperity as can
be hoped for in this world- There would
be no more *Tienice,” no more "hard
times f but things would move along
easily and sa oothly. There would bo no
cause for a want of confidence, and men
would find themselves with more cash in
their pockets than they were ever known
to have before. They would, in fact, be
surprised at their own wealth. Verily
the picture is a pleasant one to eontem-
