TSo delay of tho transactions has been unavoidable, and only recently tho ar rangement for tho consummation of tho terms has been completed. Whatever may have been suggested heretofore as to the programme, it can now lie asserted that tho Virginius will lie delivered to one of our naval vessels within tho noxt ten days, at a Cuban port in open ilay, and the surviving passon- ;;ers and crew will be transferred to a United States ship at Santiago do Cuba in an equally open manner. TJio vessels to perform these services will soon be, if they have not already lieon, designated by the Secretary of the Navy. Tliis is the condition of alTaira to-night, which lias served to inspire a hope of continued peace with Spain, in order that tho United State may continue to give their moral support to the Caitclar gov ernment in its efforts to establish a re public. Admiral Polo has lately received a com munication from Captain-General Jouvel- lar, in which there is no reference to the subject of his alleged resignation. Civil Rights Convention. The War Question In Madrid— All not Serene. . go property in Griffin con- ined alongside the ship, TWiothing I ****** the French officers who reached tho I Three Dwelling Houses, Nkw York. December 7.—The Herald special from l’nria, Divemlier Cth, says a cypher dispatch from Madrid affirms that tin* Cuban question is again grave. Min ister Sickles to-day tendered his resigna tion a i Minister, in consequence of a dis agreement about tho Spauish complica tions. This disagreement has existed for sometime. It is understood t hat ip the recent negotiations Secretary Fish acted directly with President Castelar ignoring Minuter Sickles and disapproving of his imperative tone. Tho Correapondonua says they have bad frequent disagreements before. There was almost a rupture with Mr. Fish on tho occasion of the corrcspoodence at tending tho remand of Uidwell from Ha vana and the Hor.ard case, when Air. Fish ignored Sickles anil dealt directly with tiie Spanish Minister. It is said in diplomatic circles that the good offices of the British Minister ae- n mplUhed a settlement, but now ; Mr. rie-h'proposes further concessions. Sickles resigns. The Cuban auUiorities demand that the Virginius be delivered at somo Span ish or Porto Kioft port, at tho discretion of Solerea, tho Colonial Minister—there to await arbitration Tho opposition to President Castolar is culminating in a Cabinet crisis. Tho wholo Spanish press indignantly protest against tho tono of President -Grant's message, os an impertinent, in terference in Cuban affairs, whieh is jvally none of his business. Tho cause of the Cabinet crisis is the charge that Castelar ponders to Amer ica. The dangers of the situation here spring from the astounding ignorance, haughtiness and pride of the people. Tho feeling is intensely warlike. Monster Cuban Heeling. Nsw York, December 7.—A meeting win held in this city this afternoon, com posed of prominent citizens, to arrange for a mon dor meeting at Cooper Insti- tut * next Friday night, to giro expres sion to public sentiment with regard to Cuban affairs. Tho Herald** Havana special says tho of deck of the Lock Earn war ury, snowing j no signs of tlicir having been in water. Finally some English men seized end manned oneof the French hoita and went to the reseno of tlioso struggling in the sea. - | Only one French boat’s crow assisted j in the rescue. The Captain of tho Lock Earn considers that tho great loss of life resulted from I tho fact that his vessel drifted such a j Ion'; distance from tho steamer after tlie collision. I*:fore it was possible to shorten sail, and from tho tardiness of tho steamer in showing signals of distress nnd from tho misconduct of her crew. Spanish Civil War. Has tlie followiug Powerful Eecommendations for Planters: It is a "eiiuiue English made Manure, the only one in the market, and manu factured by a company bavin" a capital of $1,230,000, which sells -10,000 tons annu ally, and has tlie most extensive works of the kind in Great Britain, which have been in operation 34- years. The Langdale, therefore, has a good pedigree and is no experiment. It contains a larger proportion of chemical elements suited for the promotion of vegetable life, and especially of cotton, than any other fertilizer offered in the South. It is the best aud safest Cotton Manure in the market. The analysis given with the Manure when sold will be guaranteed. There shall be no mistake about tlie genuineness of the artiele. nor tho good faith of the vendors. It is tho cheapest Manure offered, as it contains nothing hut what is of rtso in becoming plant-food, or by chemical action on the soil, producing tho same. The test of cheapness is not the price, but the actual worth of tlie article purchased, Low-priced Manure cannot contain efficient quantities of pure and valuable chemi cals, which can alone give worth to a fertilizer, and bring satisfactory r'esrrlts. The Langdale is as low in price as is consistent with the use of the best ingredients, and a fair commercial profit on its cost. The employment of powerful machinery in mixing and pulverizing the ingre dients prepare# every particle for service, and prevents trouble in using. The Lang dale is unequalled in this respect, and impresses every one who sees it as a perfectly manipulated Manure. In it3 composition nnd preparation it is the result of careful scientific research and experiment, confirmed by practical application for a quarter of a century. It will be maintained at its present high standard, and is thus what planters have long wanted - a thoroughly reliable and safe Manure. THE MODEL MANURE AND PLANTER’S FRIEND.
