posed to erect in this city, came up 1 k.-
foro the City Council last night, hut final

Train llclnyril.
The train on the Central railroad did
not arrive on time yesterday 'morning.
It was delayed until jbout two o'clock in
the afternoon by an accident to tho loco
motive. This explains tho non-arrival of
the Eastern mails yesterday morning.
They came in all right, however, in tho
afternoon.

We had a very agreeable call last night j
from Dr. Lory Marsh, an intelligent Kng- j
lish gentlemnn who is making a tour of
observation in the South. Dr. Marsh j
came over am a member of tho Kvangeli- !
eal Alliance, which mot in New York j
some time since. Ho has spent about
three mouths in this country, visitingtho
Fast, North and West, mixing freely with
their people and studying tlieir resources
and industries. He desired to carry home
with him an intelligent opinion, .one
which will probably have its influence in
future upon tho destinies of many Eng
lishmen, and he rightly conceived that he
could not do this if ho returned without
having visited tho South.
nc lias now been in tho South for - orae
weeks, and has talked with very many
people, and examined her resources and
products, and is rapidly forming some
very intelligent opinions in regard to
their development, no already knows
more about tho resources than some men
who have been broil here.
Tho South, a paper printed in Now
York, in its issue of November 12tli, lias
the following to say with regard to Dr.
