an excellent plan to provide one’s family

The play is a uea one, and has never be

Iam introducing a new medicine in your sec
tion. known as tho "Alum and Iron Mass.” I
would be glad if the citisens would givo it a trial;
and if, after doing so. you do not find it all I claim
for it, would Ihj glad if you would publish me to
tho world that it is a humbug; and 1 will pay for
tlio advertisement. I know how often tho public
has been imposed iqion, and as I consider hum
bugging nothing more than stealing, think that all
snch should 1k» made known.
My medicine is simply the product obtained by
evaporation of mineral water from my alum wells
in Washington county, Va., and instead of spend
ing hundreds of dollars attornling the springs, you
bar* them brought to you.

MODE OP DRAWING:
There will be upon the stage two glass wheels,
the contents of which can be seen by all the spec
tators. A committee of two citizens, in no way
connected with the management, and of undoubt
ed integrity, having first counted and examined,
will place m tho larger wheel 12,600 tickets, ex
actly alike, and having printed numbers from 1
to 12,600, corresponding to all the tickets sold. A
similar committee, having first counted and ex
amined, will place in tubes precisely alike the
prizes which nro placed in the smaller wheel.
Both wheels will then be turned until their con
tents are thoroughly mixed. A boy under fifteen
years, blindfolded, will then draw from the larger
wheel one of the 12,600 tickets, and holding it tip
iu full view of the spectators and auditors, its
number will be railed by the crier appointed for
this purpose, so that all present may Itear. The
number will then be passed to the committee of
citizens, who will say whether the number has
been rightly called. It will then be passed to a
registrar, who will file it, and record it upon a
book prepared for that purpose. A boy of similar
age will then draw from the smaller wheel one of
the tubes containing a prize, which will be opened
and held up to the view of the spectators and
auditors. Tne value of the real estate prize will
then be cried, and passed to the committee, who,
after inspection, will give it to another registrar
t*.* Jik* and n-Corel. Th<-priz-j thus drawn will l» -
long to the ticket i>earing the numlwr drawn im
mediately before it. Thus this process will con
tinue. drawing first from the large wheel contain
ing the tickets, ancl then from the small or prize
wheel, until all the tubes containing the prizes
are drawn. An accurate record of the above will
be kept on file, certified to by the committee of
disinterested citizens officiating.
Tlie prizes below $300 in value are approxima
tions, and will ta determined and paid as follows:
The numlvrs o; :il! tl;.* tick'’.*> >..id i* in_'. oii-id-
ered in a circle, numerically formed, and having
the highest number, 12.600, and the lowest, 1,
brought together, then whatever number in this
circle may ta by lot determined to ta entitled to*
the capital prize of $25,000 will ta taken as a cen
tre, on each side of which the next 300 numbers
in numerical order will be counted for the $10
prizes, thus making on the two sides of the capi
tal the six hundred nearest numbers, each of
which will be entitled to a real estate prise of $10.
All the tickets drawing larger prizes will ta ex
cluded. and the circle exteruled to include 600 on
tath sides of the capital, being 300 on each side,
it being the purpose of the management not to
duplicate prizes.
Moxey—All money received from sales of tick
ets will be deposited in bank immediately on re
ceipt of remittances.

the drawing, parties putting real estate on the
market under this scheme, are required to make

The Greatest Strike Yet.
I ? VER tf WHERE the sick are striking against
J metalic medicines and powerful vegetable
poisons. Everywhere they are strong in the be
lief that a Constitutional luvigorant—a prepara
tion uniting tlie properties of a tonic, a gentle pur
gative, a blood depurent, a sedative, and a gene
ral regulator is absolutely necessary in all diseases.
Uverywhere they are coming to the conclusion
that
Tamili Effcneseat Seltzer Apperiest
h precisely such a preparation. Within the past
year thousands of fa-, klies have adopted it as a
household remedy—discarding all the drugs they
had previously taken, and administered to their
children. In general debility, nervousness, liver
complaint, constipation, indigestion, rheumatism,
and fevers, it is indeed a marvelous medicine.
