Cone to New York.
Mr, It. A- Morris, of the firm of Mor
ris & Ware, left for New York on Thurs
day morning, to purchase the Spring and
Summer stock of dry goods for his house.
Mr. Morris is a good buyer, and the Ia-
di.-s, when ho returns, will have an op
portunity to buy something nice.
Justice Court.
An inlere-ting case, in which a well-
known Macon butcher is charged with
receiving stolen cattle, knowing them tc
lie atolen, was commenced before Justice
M. It Freeman at the Court-house yes
terday afternoon. The case was not
concluded, but will bo continued this
morning.
Cheapest Crockery.
We invito attention to the advertise
ments of Messrs. Truman, Wnlker A Co.
which appear this morning. These gen
tlemen expect to removo from tboir pres
ent location on Mnlberry street about
tho 1st of April, and desiring to remove
ns few goods as possible, will sell from
now until that time at unprecedentedly
low prices.
Cheap Pants.
Accommodating himself to the situa
tion, Mr. J. L. Shea, the tailor, has pre
pared himself to rnako a line of cheap
panta—cheaper than they have ever be
fore been made in Macon. He will tar
nish good goods and make and well fin
ish to order pant* at prices ranging from
novon to ton dollars. Seo his advertise
ment.
Ulan* Veiled.
A partial eclipse of tho moon came off
last night precisely as foretold by the
nlmanackers. Tho greatest obscuration
did not, to the eye, reach more than one-
third of the moon's diso, still the phe
nomenon was ontireiy successful and pre
cisely ns set forth in the bills. The per
formance commenced about 11 o’clock,
and continued more than two hours.
The Masquers lie.
rile ma-rjuerade of the Excelsior
j Dancing Club, given in Ayres’ Hali night
| before last, was a very pleasant social
; event. There were present about ahun-
dred masquers and a large number of
spectators, and the levity which com
menced with the grand march, at nine
o’clock, did not relax until far into the
small hours of the morning.
The costuming was good. Many wore
elegant, many gay, and the usual num
ber were grotesque. Where there were
«o many well sustained characters we
will not attempt a special mention of
any. Some, of coarse, were better than
others, bat all were unusually excellent,
and tho general tone of the entertain
ment was t enteel in a high degree. Ev
erybody was on his or her good behavior,
all being resolved to have as much fun as
possible, and to contribute as freely os
possible to the fan of the others.
Below we give a list of those who ap
peered in costume, together with the
character each represented. The list
not quite complete, owing to the fact
that some came in later than nine o'clock,
and the committees failed to make the
proper record of them :

In accordance with a time-honored

comrade, Mr. J. T. Rodgers, who was
married n few weeks ago. The company
was formed at tho armory, and, march

tlie company was marched into the house,
where they found a superb collation
awaiting them, the bounty of wbich was
only equaled by the excellent taste in
which it was arranged, and that was ex
ceeded only by the hearty appreciation of
it manifested by the soldiers. The usual
toasts were drunk, and a multitude of
compliments passed, after which the
comjiany returned to its armory and was
dismissed.

snch as sour stomach, sick headache,
habitant costiveness, palpitation of the

up of food after eating, low spirits, etc.,
we ask you to go to your druggist and
get a sample bottle of Green's August
