rendered a decision m the case of the
Government against M. L. 8vices, Treas
urer and Secretary of tbe Chicago and
Northwestern Railway, on a motion to
show emsa why an attachment for con
tempt should not issue against him for
not producing the books of the company
in court. This ease grew out of tho suit
of the government against Samuel J. Til-
den to recover alleged unpaid revenue
tax. This action has again gone over for
the term by agreement of counsel.

Stewart’* Body Not Found—Po
lice Baffled.
Nsw York, November II.—The re
ports published this morning that a clew
to the body of A. T. Stewart bad been
round, have not been confirmed to-day.
The troth of such reports is denied at
police headquarters. Stewart’s body and
the thieve* who stole it, are still hidden
from the poltoe. Judge Hilton has no
new infoimatiou.
At the polioe headquarters it was stated
that there are no new disooverles in the
Manhattan Bank robbery. The thieves
and the stolen bonds were still beyond the
reach of the polioe.

Dealing In Bora* Deeds.
Philadelphia, November 11.—A war
rant wa* issued this morning for the ar
rest of J. B. Reed, one of the alleged
conspirators in the TV hi taker will case.
The affidavit charges Reed with larceny
as bailee, and itates that some time ago
Reed borrowed from a gentleman in this
city the original letters patent and deeds
to nearly on* hundred thousand acres in
Brunswick and Craven connties. North
Carolina, upon the reprveentarion that he
had a purohaser for the landa. Reed des
troyed the deeds, which had never been
recorded, and substituted false ones, in
which the names of a former Mayor of
Philadelphia, John BiveaB, once a well
known local alderman, and other*, w.re
named as the principals and witnesses.
These deeds, carrying with them the land,
were first reoorded in North Carolina and
then soil to a party in Camden. The

Halifax, November 11.—H. M. troop
chip Orontes, from Cyprus, vis Malta
and Bermuda, arrived to-day with the
101st regiment. There was much sick
nets, but no deaths during the passage.
Over 200 sick were left at Malta, and on
arrival hero sixty were taken to the hos
pital. The 20ih regiment embarks on
tho Orontes Wednesday for Cyprus. ■
